. https://safc.com/players/1st-team . . . "Aiden McGeady joined Sunderland in July 2017 when he penned an initial three-year deal on Wearside. Born in Scotland and with an illustrious career to his name, McGeady qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his grandparents and is the nation's seventh-most capped player of all time, with 93 Irish international appearances thus far. McGeady began his professional career at Celtic, and played Champions League football with both the Bhoys and Spartak Moscow, spending four years in the Russian capital after leaving Glasgow. The winger would join Everton in 2014 and make his bow in the Premier League, and arrived in the North East via loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End. He spent a brief time on loan with Charlton Athletic in 2020, before returning to the Lads' first-team fold under Lee Johnson. McGeady racked up 16 assists during a five-month period in the 2020-21 season, earning places in both the PFA and EFL League One Teams of the Year."

"I will continue my policy of investing in the football club. I shan't be selling the club until we win something. Not at any price. When I say win something, if we get in a position of Champions League that equals winning something.''

"The way some fans went on at half time on the concourse didnt shine the best light either. 2 smoke bombs set off, fire alarms going off. Partying like we had won the league swinging from the rafters not getting humped off relegation fodder, the football is an afterthought to a fair few."
