Not that arsed about being famous really. Depends what you're famous for as well - if the reason I'm famous after my death is because I was found, asphyxiated, in lingerie with an orange in my mouth, I'll pass. If you're concerned about being found in that state when you're deceased I have to surmise it's a regular state of being for you ?

Be completely bald - got to be more attractive than a pube head. Have them find me. They'd never recognise me in the gimp mask anyway. Rascist tbh

So what? It was racist then and it's racist now. That's like keeping a black man chained up in your cellar then defending it on the grounds that slavery used to be legal. Absolutely, but I'm saying I don't think it's like they guy at the sofa shop saw the sofa and said "What's a good name for this kind of brown - I know, nigger brown, niggers are this kind of brown", more like a the chinese supplier had an horrifically outdated english language colour chart and labled the colour from that without knowing enough (or any) of the language in order to know it was offensive. tbh in large parts of the world it probably wouldn't even be recognized as offensive even if they understood it, it's bizarre how we assume the rest of the world is as PC as the West, it ain't. They thing that amazes me most in all this is the seeming resurgence of "Poo Brown" furniture and paints as "trendy" colours in the last few year, it was vile in the 70's and it still is. Poo Brown will always be a shit colour

[1950's post]Stupid name for a colour anyway, everyone know's niggers are black it's the wogs that are brown [/1950's post]

It's not really like that at all, and unless I'm mistaken, Bluestar isn't defending the continued use of the phrase. I don't think he was either, it's just that I've heard the 'well it used to be a recognised colour' as justification for calling something nigger brown before and I think it's complete bollocks. As I say, it was racist then and it's racist now, the fact it was the done thing 20 years ago makes no difference whatsoever. 10/10 on the PC front but your maths is shit

Isn't that the point? My point being that the feat has it's impressive-ometer needle dampened by the fact that they weren't fighting against the Persian SAS... It's still impressive, but the "facts" detract from the legend. The Persian army at the time was the greatest army on earth (having conquered a huge swathe of the planet) irrespective of it's make-up, therefore I think the feat of holding out for 3 days deserves a raise in the "impressive-ometer needle " IMO

Was meant to be getting turned into a film directed by Michael Mann, but seems to have slipped off the radar. He went and did Collateral instead. Shame that, it'll probably never be made now because of 300 which better be good because if it's not it's a disservice to one of history's great stories. The Spartans were sort of the Nazi's of the ancient world and are a compelling subject. I don't think Nazi is a particularly fair comparison (except in the most indirect military sense, some thing Alexander and the Roman’s repeated really), both because the world was a vastly different place, and because Sparta did both somewhat directly and indirectly influence Athenian democracy (in some ways they were much more liberal and equal than them, in fact, although in many ways not), which is pretty much at least the barest ideological framework of the modern idea. But they are fascinating though definitely (as is most of Mediterranean history of that time period tbh). That's why I said "sort of" Nearest contemporary comparison IMO though, much more so than the Romans or Alexander

As you say apart from clothes and food, I reckon I buy virtually everything else on-line. Especially anything electrical, bought a small tele from Amazon for £249, was £349 in Currys

Stunning film On a Nicholson-esque theme The Departed, thoroughly enjoyable gangster/bad cop romp Di Caprio was excellent, which was a surprise -
Solely on Taylor IMO When the balls played wide Huntingdon checks his run to play the winger offside, which he would have been except that Taylor was 2 yards behind the line the rest of the defence was holding, Taylor compounded his error by not cutting out the cross As for the "no defenders - why didn'y you realise that in August" comments, he probably did but we were skint (and probably still are)

Thanks, but within reason not too bothered by monthly cost (it's a business expense as I work from home) just after a half-decent provider
