  1. I wondered if maybe one blade came loose and then somehow hit the other on the way to the ground, of course the thing that the company will not want to admit is that their blades can come randomly flying off like that. On t'radio yesterday there was a guy from the company that insures wind turbines and that's exactly what he reckoned had happened
  2. Blackburn evidently wanted him (from a NW journo), we supposedly offered cash for Warnock and they came back and said "less cash but plus Barton" we (the cockney mafia) said OK, and that's when KK kicked off and chucked his toys out. Alledgedly of course.
  3. Not going to happen, was a chance years ago when Israels actions were the "excuse" for fundamentalist Islam, unfortunately peace didn't happen and now the fundamentalists have a momentum of their own. Israel (and the west) is reaping what it sowed but at least Israel's got the means/will to deal with it. Electing Hamas was the death knell for the Palestinians. Even if we could magically create a Palestine with local autonomy/freedom etc, there wouldn't be peace, Iran has no interest in losing it's defacto way of waging war on Israel, there's no will for peace on either side. Israel now needs to defend itself out of necessity (rather than because it's flexing regional muscle). Until fundamentalist Islam is irradicated (and there's no sign of that happening) it's going to get messier yet.
  4. I use a small radio transmitter one, was twenty quid some time ago, works fine, set on 107.6 no interference worth mentioning and I drive to and from Aberdeen every week so pass loads of places where I could expect to pick up "noise". Only thing that does get it, is when my phone drops out and back in to coverage
  5. A hypothetical "magic bullet" "The big bang today relies on a growing number of hypothetical entities, things that we have never observed -- inflation, dark matter and dark energy are the most prominent examples. Without them, there would be a fatal contradiction between the observations made by astronomers and the predictions of the big bang theory. In no other field of physics would this continual recourse to new hypothetical objects be accepted as a way of bridging the gap between theory and observation. It would, at the least, raise serious questions about the validity of the underlying theory". "Supporters of the big bang theory may retort that these theories do not explain every cosmological observation. But that is scarcely surprising, as their development has been severely hampered by a complete lack of funding. Indeed, such questions and alternatives cannot even now be freely discussed and examined. An open exchange of ideas is lacking in most mainstream conferences. Whereas Richard Feynman could say that "science is the culture of doubt", in cosmology today doubt and dissent are not tolerated, and young scientists learn to remain silent if they have something negative to say about the standard big bang model. Those who doubt the big bang fear that saying so will cost them their funding". From - http://www.cosmology.info/ I don't know who funds it, but trace it back and there's an agenda somewhere, even if it's "Oh look we've discovered xyz, keep my research funded (and me in a job)" - see second quoted paragraph
  6. As for religion denying science, compared to organised religion with it's "agenda's", science is no less agenda driven. Much scientific research is funded from/by a "group/person/organisation" with a percieved aim in sight, scientists would find funding pretty thin on the ground if they couldn't/didn't find "scientific results" pointing towards that aim/agenda. Truly independant scientific research is a rare beast.
  7. Only paper talk probably Journal
  8. A good hounding and lynching solves everything, or at least so the KKK reckon. I wonder what the loony-leftie version of the KKK is, because it's getting very powerfull
  9. Agree, with all of that, can't understand why the zealots aren't storming that rascist publications offices right now Also the CPS were pretty clever I reckon (and his defence lawyer was incompetent) but he was charged with Rascist OR Offensive chanting, the Mido/Paedo reference would be considered offensive so he was fucked on that one, but if it was me I'd have fought like fuck to get the bullshit rascist word removed. Exhibit A being a copy of Private Eye.
  10. His brief must've been an arsehole not to get him off Pair appear in court over Mido chants:
  11. Fair number of mackems reckon he will be their next manager I also heard a couple say keane was leaving to be our next manager too so I wouldnt worry about it Not worried at all, Keegan's a busted flush
  12. Fair number of mackems reckon he will be their next manager
  13. It'll come down to who the writers are, hopefully Stephen Ambrose will be involved (he wrote the first one)
  14. 11 years of labour rule. It has fostered a "I dont have to do anything I dont want to attitude in England". We need a Tory government who are willing to act like a tory government to get these fucks back into society and functioning again. If thety dont, let them starve IMO. Social change supercedes political change in this case. I dont agree that a government who came in in 1997 is responsible for a social underclass in the UK. Thats just fucking stupid tbh. You're right, it's not solely this governments fault nor is it all down to Thatcher. The "underclass" has always been there (I'm 50 btw and they were there when I was a kid) but the change through my lifetime has been that the underclass' existence has been made easier and easier by successive governments and social changes. I think it is sad that Thatcher gets all the blame (by many) because "she threw everyone out of work" and as a result they turned to crap. By sad I don't mean I have any particular sympathy for Thatcher BUT it is highly dissrespectfull to the working man - who in significant numbers of cases were and are "decent" members of society and even in the face of adversity/hardship remained so, and made damn well sure so did their families. The Thatcher destroyed industry and turned millions to crap is a phallacy IMO
  15. It's not a new phenomenon, there is a section of the population that just can't function in a society, never has been able to and never will, but there's one hell of a lot more of the fuckers these days.
  16. And don't forget West Ham still have the potential £30 million Sheff Utd bill hanging over them on top of any ownership skintness
  17. Absolutely no different to the weekly dives we see for penalties that never where IMO. I think he's a drug cheat though and therefore should never be compared to Pele for example (I don't think Maradonna was as good anyway, but that's beside the point.
  18. Your defence is not responding and will have to close
  19. On a Celtic board, despicable bastards http://celtictalk.org/celtic-fc-f70-...irt-t8139.html Protesting on Saturday about the team wearing the Poppy on their shirts . We will be leafleting all sides of the ground before the game on Saturday. We want as many people as possible to turn up on Saturday and help us spread the message amolng the supporters against this jingoism. Cairde Na hÉireann are supporting the protest. We will be urging in the leaflet that fans should support the walk out protest suggested by the Green Brigade. We will also be urging that if there's a minute's silence before the start of the match, those who are against this celebration of British imperialism should turn their backs on the silence and/or hold up the front of our leaflet as a show of defiance. Meet at the Cairde Shop on the Gallowgate at 1pm. We will be discussing on the day what should happen after people walk out of the stadium.
  20. One game surely ??? Three games is for violent conduct isn't it. Unless he's carrying a tot-up score of cards Oh aye, not a prayer it'll be overturned IMO, if he was called John Terry of course that'd be different
  21. So they do the survey at stations after people have commuted, one person (mackem likely) doesn't wash after a wipe pushes metro door button, holds onto rail in carriage, pays for paper with coins etc, everyone else who touches button, holds same rail or gets mackem stained coins as change get unwelcome fecal guests on their hands which they in turn spread to more surfaces which more people touch etc etc etc.
  22. He was never fit, and was never allowed to get fit, which was a shame because he was a canny player. Wayne Ferraday, and Bill Riley top him by a mile IMO
  23. You couldn't make it up Meanwhile, The National Portrait Gallery has launched a public appeal to raise £200,000 for Marc Quinn's self-portrait head cast made from frozen blood. The gallery wants to buy the fourth head in a series, made in 2006, which is being sold by London's White Cube gallery for £350,000. The Art Fund has offered a £100,000 grant and the National Portrait Gallery has found £50,000 from its own resources, leaving it to raise the remainder by December 31. Quinn has made a new cast, using eight or nine pints of his own blood, every five years to document his ageing since 1991
  24. Well not really - there aren't any West Ham or Chelsea fans on here defending that kind of chant. The Spuds chant was not that kind of chant. It was specifically aimed at an individual (and crafted to "get at" that individual) exactly. Toms still struggling with the concept of net spend and average attendance tbh. It doesnt surprise me he is struggling with this. Possibly because you twist statistics to match your arguement. Regarding Attendance : You regard % of ground filled as a more important factor in determining a good attendance. This is retarded and it's really not how it works. Net Spend : I understand Net Spent and I couldn't care less about it about 75% of your income from player sales came from 2 players - you have spent £70m on building a first 11 and it isn't working very well is it? Racist Chanting : Whether targeted at an Individual or a group I think the concept remains the same and it has no place in football in my opinion. Which ones Danny_B? I would agree IF I thought the Campbell chant was rascist, but it wasn't (in my opinion)
