The yanks I know would disagree re the "minimise conflict" bit. They saw hard-line MAGA for what it was and wanted "justice", (same way we felt about the "concerned citizens" scum in the farage riots) as time passed people got pissed off/bored with "no accountability if you're rich" thing and it got minimised over time, early doors there was outrage in the main.
