  1. Write off is not exactly the right word but for me it's about perspective as a fan, it means accepting we probably won't be finishing in the CL places this season. We just don't look the part away from home. That might change once everyone is fit but might be a bit late by then to grab 4th spot again. Enjoy the home games, remember where we are coming from and where we are going. And beat the mackems please.
  2. I do bloody miss last season, this was not how we hoped this year would go
  3. Yeah been saying that for a while now. We're a shadow of the team from last season. We're not finishing in a CL place this time. Loads of things to factor and we've talked about most of them for some time like the injuries, rotten luck with fixtures and the fact we decided to sign 4 players knowing full well what we were getting into. We've been now outplayed by some terrible teams away from home. Can't just say it's bad luck with fixtures and fatigue. There's something wrong and Howe will fix it I just hope it's bloody soon and before the mackem fixture. Season of transition and consolidation. Write it off, we just need to make sure we learn from it. And for perspective remember that we're talking about a top half finish as a write off, because it's still not that long ago when that would have been beyond our reach.
  4. Oof it's a match thread I think I'm allowed to comment on the football a bit As I said mitigating factors abound but if you've watched us play we've been poor throughout even against rubbish teams and we're hanging on here against freaking Luton I repeat. Nothing I don't expect to be fixed. We'll be fine but for now it's poor. Very poor. You don't want to hear or say it that's upto you.
  5. I'm not really. You can believe in the team and still think we've been shite so far. Another great chance we're hanging on here....
  6. Why can't we call it as it is man one win and we're almost in January. That definitely shite form. Mitigating factors or not. No need to panic and we will get better but for now nothing wrong with calling it as it is. And we almost go 2 down to freaking Luton in 30 minutes while people argue the point.....
  7. I mean ok if we're nitpicking it's obviously not exactly the same chance but he had the goal open gaping wide from about a yard so.... We'd started playing well actually. But it's looking like the typical away day from this season so far.
  8. We are so shite. Minutes after Wilson missed just an easy header as their goal. Just shite all around.
  9. Yeah some rest not the worst thing for him and Luton do go the aerial route so another reason to have Burn in the side. Tino should definitely be back soon though.
  10. There are unavoidable growing pains as a club tries to break into the top. Especially one as far behind the rest as NUFC. I think all of these experiences that the team has to go through, from losing finals to coping with injuries to managing pressure in multiple competitions to learning game management at this level, seem to have been condensed into a year or so for us. Much like the accelerated growth we've experienced since the takeover, an inevitable result of it in fact. So if the staff and players manage to learn from all this, we're just crash coursing our way to the top. Just beat the mackems please.
  11. There's bad luck but we've shot ourselves in the foot countless times this season. This is a year of learning and adjustment. I think we need to write it off and wait for luck to correct itself next season 🍭
  12. I know players have poor runs of form but this has been incredible. Especially for someone as reliable as him
  13. Ffs I just knew it. Unbelievable. Trippier man. And we can't even blame tiredness this time. Something is up with the lad
  14. I'm guessing they will add about 17 minutes of added time tonight too the cheating pricks.
  15. We say this every game. Took 3 goals advantage against a 10 man Fulham for Howe to bring him on.
  16. Sounds tailor made for Hall to come on and score the second on the break.
  17. I'm not able to watch the game today but sounds like the standard away performance where we'll concede in stoppage time and then proceed to lose.
  18. Yeah I agree. I was thinking long term. Fair point on the load on Miley at the moment. Good thing is these days you'd expect our coaching team to be aware of this and making sure he's recovering as soon as he can.
  19. Aye. Interesting to see how the midfield evolves now that Miley has emerged as the Longstaff upgrade. Means we can concentrate on right wingers/strikers in the market maybe
  20. I think we saw enough from to Tonali to say that he can be an outstanding box to box midfielder even though he seems a different sort of player to Bruno. I thought he's more physical and definitely faster. Dare I say a mix of Bruno and Willock? Not sure if Eddie had figured out how to play them together or what our best system is when everyone is fit but we now know how invaluable having the different options would have been in the run in across all competitions.
  21. I'm with the bedwetters on this one. One game too many and we're terrible away from home. Hope to be eating humble pie with the rest later on.
  22. Seemed to be paying with a lot more flair and freedom than usual because we were comfortable at the back. Signs of what he could do in the final third if somebody else was playing his defensive role just as well. Has cut out the occasional petulant moment as well which is great to see.
