I'd start Shola, HBA behind him and Sammy on the wing. Can Sammy play upfront though? I know Pards always plays him on the wings but is is he supposed to be a striker in general? If so then he could be played with his brother and HBA on the wing as well. Would like to see Vuckic given another chance in the middle with Cabaye too. Mind you Pards would see this as too much tinkering though and I expect Obertan and Raylor will play in midfield with HBA partnering Shola/Best.

I would normally agree but I think we have a very good chance this year. We can defend well, have players who can turn a game and have a manager who has a desire to go far in it. Very good chance I thnk. Yup, if Pards sets it out as the priority for this season from this moment onwards we have a chance.

That was an incredible goal from HBA! Superb control and composure. Good to see he's impressing when he gets the chances, changed the Bolton game and now this. Might not be imposing himself over the 90 minutes but great to see he's proved a gamechanger already and with time the consistency will come too. Very encouraging stuff. Great stuff! Delighted for HBA of course but also Jonas because he's put in a lot of hard work for the team at the cost of looking like a crap offensive player at times. And is it just me or are we scoring some super goals this season? Long may it continue!

Has the club ever said any of that? All I've heard is that every player has his price and they won't guarantee that a player will stay at the club after the Carroll debacle. Noone's ever actually going to say that are they? History tells the story though. Does it? Who have we sold exactly apart from Carroll for a ridiculous amount of money and Enrique who wanted to go? Don't get me wrong I'm not deluded enough to think we're in a great position. But very few clubs can withstand big money bids from bigger clubs. It's not a problem unique to us. The bigger problem for me is the lack of reinvestment, athough they'd argue that they're able to get top quality players like Cabaye on the cheap instead. We are trying to sell players, feel free to shuffle through pardews comments. Basically "come get them" with a bit of reverse psychology. Thats what I was going on about. I agree we cant be classified a 'selling club' simply on the basis of the Carrol sale, but the last couple of years show that the trend is we offload star players and then try to reinvest cleverly. Its worked great so far but its a risky strategy and we wont find a Tiote and a Cabaye everytime and thats what all of us are worried about isnt it?

Feeling a bit sick after reading about Ba's link to Spurs. Somebody will bid sooner or later. Even if there is no release clause we know FMA probably wont even try to hang on to him. For goodness' sake we are only a couple of good players away from being a very potent team, wish somebody in our top management would realize this and knock some sense into the fat one.

Amazing night. What a performance. We dominated the champs and who cares if they weren't at their best, hats off to the lads! Canny performances from the likes of Shola, Simpson and Williamson. Just cant get over how good Ba is though, absolutely outstanding! Thought Colo was majestic at the back too, seems so much in control and full of confidence these days. On current form best defender we've had over the last 10 years at least imo, I know thats not saying much, but still First win we've had over the manure since I've been following Newcastle, considering some of the results we've had against them and the resulting banter from the gloryhunting manure fans around here, it was a special special moment

I'd be satisfied with top ten but considering our start and the current league table 7th is what we should be aiming for and naturally many of us will be disappointed if we finish lower. Also many of us expect our better players to leave next summer or this window even, and we know we aren't going to get lucky again with the replacements everytime. What are the chances of us putting together a run like we did earlier this season, with a shot at Europe in sights. Perhaps thats why many of us so desperately want something from this season and as high a finish as possible.

Same result as the Man City game but could hardly have been a more different performance. To begin going with 5 in midfield showed negativity when 4-4-2 has worked so nicely for us, and it was no surprise Reina didnt have to make a single save during the game. I thought Tiote did well at times showing composure and distributed it around nicely. Mind you he does give away some silly freekicks that often cost us. Ba did ok too everytime he got into the game with little flick ons etc and the one chance he got he nearly scored. There just wasnt any service of note to him. Nobody else deserves even a mention from yesterday. Jonas' situation has become very sad to be honest. His game seems to have gone completely off. Dont know to what extent Taylor's incompetence is responsible for this but he needs to try and realize his role is more than running back and making fouls.
