  1. Yup had very little support and zero delivery into him today. Still managed to hold up the ball with around 4 spurs players on him everytime he had possesion and worked his socks off chasing people down when they had the ball. I think once HBA comes back in and we have some sort of an understanding developed amongst our new look attack he'll be getting a lot more chances and he'll put most of them away too.
  2. Thought Tiote did alright although he made a couple of very wild challenges. Agree about Shola too he had once chance and he got it on target. What the hell are you in about Marveaux though? He did shite all in almost 40 minutes he was on the pitch, compare that to Gouffran's performance in the first half.
  3. Two defensive errors for their goals although take nothing away from Bale who was the difference between the two sides. Dont think our attack linked up at all, passing in the final third was abysmal apart from a few instances Sissoko who at least was able to setup people for having a go at goal. Jonas really really has to do something about his passing, its shocking. Feel a bit sorry for Cisse who worked his socks off but barely had a decent chance at goal. Hope Gouffran is okay, his work rate is excellent to go along with the clever forward play and when he went off we werent the same side. Marveaux did absolutely nothing. Back down to earth then but it was always going to be a tough game and we were able to match them for long periods without providing too much threat on goal. Could have easily gotten a draw if we had dealt with the long ball for their second goal or Perch decided to jump in the wall for their first.
  4. Looking forward to this. I'll be happy as long as we dont get drubbed down there again and give them a good game
  5. He's been alright but hasnt had the kind of impact I though he would looking at the way he used to play at Fulham. I think he's been asked to play that box to box midfielder role rather than the floating type of role he seemed to enjoy more. Perhaps a Jonas like situation, asked to play for the team.
  6. They are pretty dependent on him at the moment. I thought someone like Dembele would be more of a threat than he has been for them, although he does seem to be playing in a more defensive position than he was at Fulham.
  7. A true black and white fan, as they are known down where I live!
  8. Did most of the work for our equaliser. Not many people can run with the ball at that pace and manager to get a decent shot away. Speaks loads about his technical ability. Not the type of player who's going to dominate a game but one of those clever operators who will link up nicely with the others and once in a while setup a good chance by himself. The comparisons with Bellamy seem appropriate. Also seems to be willing to work hard and help out the guy behind him if needed.
  9. The only way I'd want us to offer him a new contract is if it meant we could get a couple of million quid selling him off to some poor sods in the summer.
  10. I thought Ben Arfa was still a couple of weeks from a return to the side?
  11. Going to be a very interesting battle in midfield! The key of course will again be Bale, if we can keep tabs on him we could get something from this. Cant say Im not happy Defoe wont play, always seems to do well against us.
  12. Should have a right go, what do we have to lose? Anything is possible on the day, get to the quarters and from then on who knows.
  13. Perch has done a decent jon but I'd go with Tiote. Last few months have been tough for everyone but it doesnt mean they've all become shite.
  14. Anyone have a gif for when Sissoko skinned Cole? Want to watch that one again!
  15. Think Spuds would be pretty screwed this season if not for Bale. Defoe out for 2-3 weeks, wonder who will start against us then. Dempsey probably.
  16. Gerrard and Reina both rolling back the years there. That Aguero finish was something else though.
  17. I think its got more to do with his ability rather than judging him on one game. Its obvious even as soon as now this guy can be absolutely world class, he's got everything. It does come to mind Cisse looked similarly unstoppable last season though. Form will go up and down, for various reasons, but the ability is always there. I still back Cisse to come good again as long as he plays regularly in his favored role.
  18. The importance of someone who can properly cross the ball cannot be undermined, no matter what kind of forwards you have. A great many goals invariably result from crosses or the resulting havoc from a good ball into the box. Jonas was lacking on that account again yesterday. That was never his strength though, we are going to have to rely on Santon, HBA and hopefully Debuchy/Gouffran to get the dangerous balls in. Delighted about Jonas' goal and the show of support from the lads for him. Taken a lot of stick for the team this guy has.
