Agreed. Taylor was excellent. Apart from that it was dire stuff. If I were an Anzhi fan Im sure I'd be feeling hard done.

The Road To Amsterdam ArenA (UEFA Europa League 2013) - THE END

Phew! Credit Cisse. Two games without much service but he's delivered at critical moments. Thought Anji will feel hard done, better chances on the night and unlucky with the woodwork. Poor performance from us, once again a moment of quality from Marv. Apart from that it looked very disjointed mostly. Haidara and Tiote were immensely frustrating at times. I think Sissoko needs a bit of a rest too, he's been playing a lot. Anyway, scrappy affair, not sure we deserved the win on the night but who cares -

Very disjointed upfront. Nobody seems to know what they are supposed to be doing. Not having much luck with injuries this season are we? -

Same here, with the exception of Gouffran in instead of Marv. -
Inter v Spurs is getting interesting.

Will be interesting to see Santon on the right today. No complaints with that team selection. No Obertan or Simpson -

Nervous but excited! Going to be a very frustrating night, switching between faltering 'rivers', text commentary and the match thread here trying to gauge something of whats going on. And all at 3am with work tomorrow. Cant bloody wait Think we'll do them 2-1. Just hope we have it in us to score a couple today somehow dont think one will be enough. -
Not to mention they are too one dimensional and without a plan B. I take my words back!

Football as it was meant to be played

Cant help but admire this, after all the talk about them being too predictable and the week they've had. Big moments, big players. None bigger than Messi. A single goal could still screw them though.
-
Benteke definitely. Different type of striker from Cisse, would give us great options. Weimann, Ramirez would also worht looking at.

Yup, fingers crossed the battle for CL places will go right down to the wire As for Chelsea, a picture of Sissoko with a Tiote hairstyle and expression on his face deliverd to Cole's inbox should be sufficient to give them some sleepless nights. Thursday first though! -

Exactly, looking at those sides its really 'anybody's game' as they say. Will ultimately depend on who plays better on the day. Chelsea and Spurs no doubt have the strongest squads but not a massive gulf between them and the rest. -

Good sides but we can more than match them on our day. This really is a proper chance here for us! Like you said good to see the boys and Pards up for it, anything is possible at this stage. Gota believe -
Bit touchy eh? I know what you mean, read the posts after yours that explained a lot better what you were trying to say. Thing is at the moment there is nothing Marveaux is better at. Yes it was a lovely pass yesterday and I do like the guy but on the basis of one moment of brilliance to compare him to someone who ran the whole league ragged last season is a bit premature.

We arent bloody Barcelona, and even they often stick Pedro out wide. You just cant bomb everything through the middle. -
Not consistent enough in the view of many Chelsea fans apparently, Although I think thats got more to do with when he's asked to play in a defensive midfield role. When Lampard's not playing and he's the man pushing on from midfield, he's very good. That control and turn to cut back in past Evans from Mata near the end, absolute class, Bergkampesque! Some save from De Gea too to keep it out.

20 05 kick off? FFS thats 1am my time! Oh well going to be another sleepy Friday at work -
He had moments in those games but was never able to impose himself on it. On the other hand look at Sissoko and how you cant seem to keep him out of the action for 5 minutes. For that reason all he can be is a great option off the bench. The promise is there though, if only he could try and work a little harder in midfield.

Yup. Robert usually just lashed at them but I can remember a few times when he went for placement too. The way Cabaye just takes a step and sidefoots them in is brilliant. Some technique. Today's was all about placement but he can get great power in there too when he wents without taking anything of a run up.

Yep, as in to Brock's post

Yup, great option to have off the bench.
