Tough one that. Given? Solano? Coloccini during the 11-12 season was outstanding. All 3 deserve more credit than they get imo. Speaking not in terms of nufc fans but the general football world. Overall I'd say Given, he was the best shot stopper in the league for a 3-4 year period.

It was more a discussion regarding his playing style and potential to be fair. Unless you're reading into the Suarez remark.
-
Maybe, but take out Messi from Guardiola's Barcelona and tell me how they would have done. They were utterly dependent on him for the goals.
-
While we're musing the ifs and buts. The chance in the final, the only real one Messi had that went a foot wide of the post, had that gone in this argument might have been settled for ever. I really dont know a lot about football from those days, so how does the Argentina side from this summer compare to the one that won it with Maradona? You could argue it had other world class players like Di Maria and Aguero in the team but they weren't able to make a significant impact at all in the end. I dont really buy into the whole Mourinho football is boring argument. Sometimes he does go out and set up to get a result, but its fascinating. Not entertaining as the gung ho approach everyone loves perhaps but certainly intriguing or engrossing, definitely not boring as far as Im concerned. Then again they have been scoring a lot of goals as well since he's come back. The Everton Chelsea game is probably the best one so far this season.

It was the way in which he was being bullied off the ball but still managing to make an impact that reminded me of Hernandez when he first came to ManU. If he can bring in anything in addition to the goal poaching it'll be wonderful. Since then, with increased confidence, he's shown he's definitely more skilful. Cisse would probably kill for the chance to have someone behind him who could actually provide half decent chances.

Would absolutely love for him to put in a few appearance towards the end of the season, the sort of typical Jonas performances when he was at his prime, making a complete nuisance of himself and around the midfield. Could provide the lift the club will need once some of the players are back and Pardew reverts to shitball with Williamson and co.

Alan Pardew - Poltroon sacked by a forrin team

Aye, and lets not forget he DID try to play hoofball with Ayoze up front for a couple of games before other injuries forced him to scamper that plan- 10610 replies

Yeah, reminded me of Hernandez with his first couple of goals, inconspicuous throughout but at the right place at the right time when it mattered.

Three goals and he's the new Suarez

I enjoyed that, proper taste of the atmosphere. Am I right in thinking this was mostly because we got thumped and there was a bit of rioting in the city? Or is it always this hostile.
-
I'd be worried about us at set pieces though, with him and Colo in there. Teams like Chelsea will give us a nightmare. Not that we're great at set pieces as it is.
-
That para is supposed to be read in connection with the previous one You could look at some of the things Williamson and Taylor have done on the field and think they're not footballers at all let alone premier league one.
-
Does he see himself as a centre half in the future? Does our coaching team? If yes then I'd stick with him at CB since we've got Haidara and Santon. Willamson will always be below average at best and I think its about time Taylor did something massively stupid again. A couple of games is too early to judge of course. But given what our options are at CB and the cover we've got for LB it make sense to give him a few games there and see how he does.

Agree with that. We'd still finish higher
-
Hard to talk about Newcastle as it always ends with 'we're screwed as long as Ashley is here'
-
He did win the Champions League with Porto you know.
-
With an additional defender or two he could do it with ManU. Not so sure about Liverpool and Arsenal. Would need to spend some serious funds with those two, especially Liverpool.
-
Mourinho would have gotten Yaya that cake.

Oh really? NATO's been known to carry out bombings inside Pakistani territory, a prime ally on the 'war on terror', thats the official position anyway. International law Do you follow the news at all? 'International law' has been blown to bits and then some over the last couple of decades. If you think the likes of the UN have any real say on the matter you're only lending credence to ewerk's opinion of you. They cant do shit, you dont bite the hand that feeds you.
-
Aye. I actually like both Williamson and Gouffran but the fact they're not playing has done the team the world of good.
-
Cue Williamson and revenge of the hoofball
-
if there's anything we've learnt about the Pardew era its that the 4-3-3 seems to work best for him.
-
I agree. He does get bullied a bit and needs to learn you cant just lie flat on your arse and wait for the ref to give the foul though. The downside about this young attacking line up is that they're naive at times, give the ball away too much. Good sides will make them pay for it. Hopefully its something that will go away with game time.

Both cracking goals today. Janmaat now really showing his quality after a slow start, much like Debuchy, quality tells in the end. What a finish from Perez as well. HMHM makes a valid point about Williamson too. Most of this form has to be down to us changing the system since he's gone out and reverting to the 4-3-3.
