As Alex said it took years for Krul to be our proper no.1, you could see he's got talent but he wasnt immediately ready for Premier league level. Im not saying Alnwick is definitely going to be great or anything but he's a rookie, just look at some of the fixtures he's had to play in from out of nowhere with very little competitive experience at the top level. It sometimes takes seasoned professionals from other leagues a whole year or so to properly adjust to this league, we're taking about a kid here, 21 is nothing for a goalkeeper. Too early to judge imo.

Harsh on Alnwick too that I think. He's got such little experience and has been thrown right into the mix and in some very tough fixtures.

Sneaking into cups would have meaning if we actually took them seriously. And like Fish says, you're making a massive assumption there. There's just no correlation there. We nearly got relegated a couple of years back remember. We're the 4th worst team in the league in 2014 with the worst goal difference. Its a defeatist argument anyway. If you want something better you will always have to take risks. I want to see someone at the helm who knows what the club is about. Someone's who's passionate, takes risks and truly believes this club could be achieving more than it is. If we're playing in a bloody cup quarter final, I want someone who'll remember just how long nearly 50 years is and that he's a couple of games away from making history, not thinking about the next league game and wondering if a serious push could mean we finish 12th instead of 10th. At the very least someone honest, who doesnt make you puke everytime you see him on the tele or read about him.

We'll be banking on Sissoko and Perez heavily again of course. Good chance to let Riveire and Cabella in the team, if they have a decent game it could do their confidence the world of good. At the very least, no Willo and Gouffran ffs.

I dont think anyone who's actually regularly watched us over the last few years can have an appreciation of what Pardew's done. You dont just let cancer stay just because it could come back do you? Pardew should have been chemoed off long ago.

Aye, the state of the media man. The prick's gotten way more than he ever deserved in managing this club for as long as he has. Its got to do with this idea the mainstream media has in their heads about us being a bunch of ungrateful overexpectant twats who think the club should be challenging for the title every year. I think most people would be reasonably happy if we finished 8th but had someone at the helm who'd at least have a bit of respect for the club and what it means to the fans. Aye we'd still want trophies (why shouldnt we?), but we'd be satisfied.
