Yeah I don't disagree with that. Mudryk is just very raw, I question if he has the mental qualities, no doubt he has some great physical attributes. I do kind of feel for him though as Chelsea must be one of the worst places right now for players to develop. Neto is practically the same age as him and has torn up premier league defences almost everytime he's played. So I get why Chelsea would prefer him, injury record aside.
-
Eh? While I agree the injury record would be a concern for anyone and Chelsea's tranfer plans are generally haphazard; he's miles better than any of the players on that list ( seriously Mudryk? ) Barring Palmer perhaps but he's a different type of player than him.

They've signed a bunch of youth players in the 20-25M range as well who will remain with their current clubs for a year or so. They'll likely be bailed out by Saudi again; or maybe rent their dressing rooms to themselves or something like that for 20M a week and not one person in the PL or media will question it.
-
Probably means we'll try to shift Almiron, Trippier etc before signing anybody else.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Brilliant bit of business from them tbh, he didn't seem happy, not really a critical part of their team. Just opened up hundreds of millions worth of PSR wriggle room to freshen up the squad. I dont think the likes of Isak or Osimhen function properly in their system alongside Haaland. Tend to agree they'll integrate someone like Savio or pick up another technically sound player who can cover 2-3 roles like Alvarez could. -
Who hopes Palace get relegated and Guehi leaves on a free?

Defensive issues were perhaps more structural than down to individuals. That's the difference. Dazzler covered the goalkeeper part which was massive because Dubravka was absolute horsehit. But there was also the issue on the left with Burn being exposed time and again without the legs of Joe and Willock to protect him. And then Hall was not ready. With Joe and Willock back (staying fit hoepfully) and the engine of Tonali to call on now we should be much better protected from midfield, plus Hall has been really good recently and should be our first choice LB now. I dont disagree we had defensive issues but we're well on our way to addressing them, plus surely there's no way the bad luck from last season repeats without the European fixtures. The RW issue is far more simple, upgrade the player. -

I was thinking it's strange Edwards hadnt included his usualy all encompassing disclaimers in the original post. -

This would be absolutely brilliant, personally I wont rest easy till its done as surely there are other clubs interested. Guehi and Kelly as backup is fantastic defensive business. -
So are you telling me I will NOT be received by Howe and Tindall at the airport on my first visit unless I have a Tiktok account?

It's not illogical mate. Just you wait. 10 minutes of Almiron and everyone here will be tearing their hair (where available ) out in the match thread. Murphy is great in spurts but very average at other times. Both are good options as backup but RW is absolutely the top spot that needs strengthening as we all know but have been distracted by the FIRST exciting rumor of the summer I do think we'll probably strengthen both areas though. That or Howe better be working on a master plan to get the best out of Gordon on the RW. -
OR This lad goes on loan/stays as a third forward AND we get a target man type forward to replace Wilson and add something different to the attack
-
3rd striker only hopefully. All well and good that we seem to have added some decent backup so far. Will look very different if that's it at the start of the season though.
-
Yeah and has to revert to "etc etc" after naming three players which themselves most neutrals would struggle to complete the names for other than pseudo Bellingham courtesy his brother. Some flex that.
-
Did he play in midfield again? Interesting that he's been tried out there, I thought he was going to start the season as first choice LB (hopefully)
-
Can we have Robin drop a gif here every gameweek so we dont forget about it
-
It's be great just to get Nufc Twitter to stop melting down everytime Minteh beats a man. I know the Euros or structural changes at the club haven't helped, but we've definitely left our dealings late this time. This was supposed to be the summer we got the squad in good order. We'll get a couple in still hopefully but most take weeks or months to adjust to Howe's regimen so not ideal.
-
Yeah I'm sure they'll investigate that. Anything on Chelsea's property dealings so far? I suppose not.
-
So does that mean we'll be in the market for a backup RB to Tino then? Or do you think Howe will be happy with Krafth/Murphy if needed.
-
At this point I'm not sure if Wilson can be relied upon to be available if striker 1 and 2 go down. 4th choice maybe? I hope West Ham are still interested or maybe Forrest do us a massive favor again.
-
Well you must be the LIFO the party.
-
Somebody should step in before things get fiscal.
-
Which isn't a good look because it means he's not feeling heard by the club at the moment. What that's exactly down to we can only speculate. It also won't please PIF I'm sure. Needs sorting out soon regardless.
-
Well who knew CT was right all along. I too feel this is a bit unexpected, I thought he'd be a little awkward about Stavely leaving suddenly and what happened with PSR but on the whole expected that the club would have had him on board with the changes and clearly communicated what the structure and plan now is. It seems maybe at the moment we may not be running as smoothly as I thought we were, or maybe Howe is just unhappy with the changes. Also doesnt align with what Mitchell said yesterday about his relationship with Howe, from that you'd think he'd be happy given he was supposed to be on frosty terms with Ashworth. Changes of this level can be painful, for any organisation, so maybe we shouldnt read too much into it at the moment; perhaps the club will sort it out in a few weeks. But yeah, at the moment something clearly doen't seem right.
-
Good to see the club trying to actively address injury issues already. The way he talks about Eddie as well, I'm not sure how long it will take to not feel strange about the caliber of people running the club now.
