Aye, a bit like people like O'Shea at Man Utd.

Sheffield United 2-2 Newcastle United

Aye. Williamson's name on the teamsheet is enough to set off most of the Wijnaldum/Mitrovic induced enthusiasm. -
Im happy with Carver gone too, and look forward to some better football under McClaren. Hopefully. Actually looking forward to this season after a long time. But that was not the point. I was speaking in terms of our spending. Its not big or extra ordinary by any means. Everton have spent more than that on a singe player. The likes of Villa are buying players for the same amounts. And as HF pointed out above we ourselves spent 37M last year. So I dont understand the fuss. This was the very minimum requirement to stay afloat, in fact we're still 2 defenders behind meeting that requirement. We still dont have a great squad. I suppose its the belief that we're still looking to sign 2-3 players after Mbemba thats getting people excited. If that happens THEN we'll have turned a corner, in terms of keeping up with the rest of the league anyway.

Whats with all the 'we've turned a corner' crap going around on the social media. Yeah we've signed two good players, but we're still a way off from having a competing squad, even for the top 8. And its not like other clubs around us have been standing still. Even if we do manage to get in 2-3 more players we'd still only be catching up. Far too early to get excited.....

Good to know Im not the only one 'slacking off' work. I've gotten to the point now where my boss looks visibly scared when telling me to stay in late or come in on a Saturday You hear people talking about doing what you want so that work doesnt feel like work, but what the hell are you supposed to do when you dont really know what you want? Professionally speaking anyway. Be a partner/CFO/CEO. I look at those guys and often feel sorry for the way most are living their lives. Screw that.

I thin after McClaren's recent comments people will link us with everyone bar Messi.
-
In a premier league team that will get relegated, yes.
-
Now that we've spent most of the Carroll cash can we see some of that tv money?
-
Doesnt have to be from this league, just someone with experience and not a history of being a shambles. Someone not like Taylor perhaps. Tomkins say? With whom we've been linked in the past. Dont particularly rate him but we're talking about upgrading Williamson here remember. Shawcross would cost a pretty penny and wouldnt be worth it.
-
I meant someone experienced in the league in addition to 'youngsters' like Mbemba. Considering what the likes of Santon and Haidara have gone through, and players like Zouma for other teams, it could be 2-3 years before he becomes a decent CB in this league, if at all. Alongside the likes of Willo and Taylor, who're not ideal partners for a developing youngster anyway, the chances of that happening are not likey to be improved and we'll still be open to our usual horrors at the back undoing any good we might be able to conjure up front with the new signings. Thus spending 10-15M on a proven defender in a top league is necessary in my opinion.
-
Nice to see Aarons looking sharp. That was of course nowhere near our first choice defence but its still not a far off representation of what that looks like generally. Really think we need someone experienced to replace Willo, not just someone like Mbemba.
-
Aye, think we'll try to sell Cisse and let Sissoko go if a decent enough offer comes in. Having said that I think we need a net influx of at least 5 players into the squad from last season. Even if some of those are lesser known squad players. Great signing btw. Hopefully he can live up to the hype. I think he's going to be fun either way though

Applies to everyone else playing at his level too. Most of them are happy leeching off lesser clubs for years.
-
Aye hopefully. Alongside the hope there wont be any place for him in the team anyway supposing McClaren will actually try to play football.
-
So are we more interested in this Mbemba guy than Matip? Who's supposed to be more highly rated? Cant say Ive heard too much of Mbemba
-
We ought to get 4 or 5 to have any hopes of a decent season. We'll get 2 more maybe. A striker and a defender. Williamson will still be here.
-
Would love to see that. Quite a few people seem to want Cabella off but Id like to see what he could do with a decent coach and a team thats actually trying to play football. At least McClaren might try something close to that formation.
