  1. Like has been said before its not really linked to relegation. Senior club management is probably panicking given their financial situation and pending relegation. They just want to be seen doing something. How much cost cutting would axing some admin staff achieve in the modern premier league club where a player sitting on the bench will be likely making more in a week than they will in a year? They're realizing they're screwed. Let the hapless arm flailing begin.
  2. The way we're set up away from home is a pretty good indication of how we'll be set up mostly next year I think. Considering we'll be underdogs in many matches and Rafa's traditional focus on defending first. Unless there's a dramatic squad overhaul we wont be bossing possession in the premier league.
  3. Decided to try wireless earbuds. Everest 100 by JBL. Very good sound quality, as long as you're not a fan of huge bass. A bit bulky at first but they fit in really well and you get used to it within minutes. Not exactly wireless I know but its still so much more convenient, especially when you're out and about. Looking to see how well the battery does, dont want to end up having another thing to charge everyday. I experienced huge latency issues with playing videos at first. A firmware update fixed it to a great extent but you can still notice that video and audio are out just a tiny bit if you concentrate which is annoying.
  4. Yes but with Rafa's counter attacking style you'd think he'd already be looking at setting up the team to be able to absorb pressure. Its more of a team job than relying on one defender to get you out of trouble. We would need defensive improvements without a doubt, LB especially in my opinion. But I think it'd be easier than finding a fast, powerful centre forward Parky was talking about who you need to be able to convert more chances than not. Still question marks on that over our current pair, at that level anyway.
  5. Its a fair point. You'd think we'd be looking to add a striker anyway with just Gayle and Mitro being the out and out strikers right now. Not counting Murphy for the premiership. Remains to be seen if Rafa opts to splurge out 20-30M on one to lead the line or puts his faith in these two and adds a backup option.
  6. I'd like to see what he can do in the premiership in a proper footballing setup that Rafa brings, with a decent season under his belt and reasonable service into him. Harsh to judge a 22 year old on the basis of last year, we were absolutely shite under a clueless coaching setup. Mind I was saying on another thread that consistency of Gayle/Mitro will be a big test for them next year with goal scoring chances at a premium.
  7. Something I've been trying to explain to people for 15 odd years
  8. Delighted that he got the goals yesterday. First one was really well taken. If you had to pick one player who'd you want to have a great career here most of us would pick him without a doubt.
  9. Dummet would be one of the first ones I'd look at upgrading. He's been shown up more than enough times at that level. Could be decent cover for LB/CB though.
  10. You underestimate them. 'Hull played reserves etc etc. League was the priority etc etc."
  11. Class draw. We can put a full strength side out and they'll be wondering about their league position pondering which team to play. Would be fantastic to be in a cup semi final again. Real chance here
  12. The shirt yellow card thing is still a ridiculous rule though.
  13. Fair enough. Basically what we were talking about the other day. Ashley being Ashley, the next disaster is always around the corner.
  14. Poor guy. If only more of us living away from our families for work earned millions more than we do we might understand his plight.
  15. Yes but many of them have played in the premiership before and have had major consistency issues. I would say Ritchie is the one who's looked quality more times than not for Bournemouth. Gayle scored a few for Palace but for some reason didnt seem to get many games. Its all hypothetical of course. For all we know Rafa could have a great team going by next year, getting the best out of the likes of Shelvey and Mitrovic who on their day can definitely cut it in that league. But it is a concern. Plus you do wonder that with the club atmosphere so much different now, and pricks like Sissoko not around, if the people that struggled for form so much last year could do better. Some key areas will need upgrading at least. Centre midfield would be one for me for sure. A number 10 perhaps. If Gayle and Mitro can get 20-25 goals this season it'd be harsh on them not to back them next year though. That will be the interesting part.
  16. Aye, you cant do that in the premier league where you wont get enough chances to still manage to get a couple of goals with a 20% chance conversion rate. This would be the concern with both him and Gayle if we get promoted. Funny to be complaining about missed chances when you're scoring the amount of goals we have but you cant help but think in terms of what will be required next year (hopefully) and how we've struggled to create good goal scoring chances in the last few seasons.
  17. Another great performance and a cup quarterfinal to look forward to. No doubt we'll be right up for it. Really enjoyed the 2nd goal from Mitro. People talking about how we're likely to mess it up on the weekend against the same opposition. And I agree that would be typical nufc. So its a real test for this team though, and for Rafa. You'd think he'd be very particular about guarding against complacency and confidence must be very high right now. Enjoy this while we can
  18. And here I'd thought for years that tales of mackem inbreeding were well...tales
  19. It'll be sometime next year when we start looking like something of a stable premiership team under Rafa when the biennial Ashley major fuck up occurs and we're back to square one. Probably over a transfer or something a la Keegan
