Can't claim to know much about Southampton as a place, any more than I can about Newcastle Dad spent some time in the UK on Naval exercises though and had a few Portsmouth stories. Is it far from Southampton? He never cared to mention it even though he loves to drag on about the places he visited around the area.

Aye. In the Ashley era there really was only that one season where Cisse went completely mental and there were a few crackers from Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Ryan Taylor. Can't really think of a fun season we had other than that one. Pardew put Cisse on the left wing next season or something didn't he Getting excited about matchdays these days almost feels surreal.

Incredible incredible stuff! You have to hand it to Howe and the team. Funny what a bit of positivity can do. We've all rightly had a go at many of these players but they've been transformed recently. WTF was Bruce doing to them exactly? Also love how hush the media is about this. We were supposed to be the richest club that ever went down. "Newcastle win again" squeezed in a little corner on the football page. It's a miraculous turn around you sour little pricks and if it was any other club you'd be wanking yourself silly over it.

Wonder if the conflict does broaden in some way what are the chances of the spill over encompassing us too? Little for now maybe as Saudi really always has been very much in bed with the West. But MBS did refuse to take Biden's call this week so The Chelsea thing is funny as feck but a part of me does think this is unfair on the fans, massive pricks they may be.

Taiwan supplies some of the most advanced microchips used in military equipment, satellites etc. Neither Chinese nor American companies have been able to get anywhere near them technology wise so far. For this reason there's a view that the US will step in if China makes a move on Taiwan. The Silicon Shield they call it, the Taiwanese semiconductor industry. It's crazy times and who knows what will happen but I think history has shown money and strategic advantage are far greater motivators than human suffering.

What a mental couple of days. Feel horrible for the Ukranians. Was watching a WWII documentary a few days ago and thinking thank bloody heavens we seem to be over this sort of thing. Not that the countless proxy wars don't cause enough misery. The ease with which Russia seems to have gotten to Kyiv is unsettling too, It's not like Ukraine is really tiny, although I do realize its too early to really determine who's planning what. This is also probably going to cause smaller countries with larger, angrier neighbors to step up military spending and just make the world a more dangerous place overall even if you ignore the current war. I think Putin's just pushed the world back to 1945, the freaking lunatic. Hasn't he been taking notice of the sneaky underhanded regime change moves the US has been pulling off for decades? At least there's less chance of half the world getting involved.

The spirit at the club today is hard to believe from where we were just a couple of months ago. Howe is a massive part of that. Remains to be seen how he fares when we start competing at a higher level, but for now he's turned out to be the perfect appointment. As others have said, he's pretty much ticked all boxes from getting the best out of players to the media to transfers. I know the comparative for us is Bruce but its just so refreshing to see a Newcastle team with fitness, energy and well defined roles. We've all actually started looking forward to football games ffs The signings have been spot on as well, more in terms of attitude than anything else. Maybe that's not just down to Howe but the new lads have come in shown a lot of pride in playing for the club and given it absolutely everything on the pitch. Its played into the momentum of the good results and seems to have given a right kick up the arse to the likes of Shelvey and Willock. I wonder if someone like Emery could have gotten this reaction? I know many were underwhelmed when he turned us down or whatever it was.

Other Games 21/22: Talk about Actual Football

Freaking Zaha with that penalty miss. But it's still a decent result for us, Palace at home is one of the games Norwich would think they have a decent chances at to get 3 points.
