Other Games 21/22: Talk about Actual Football

Also serves the likes of Richarlison to have a full season relegation on their CV. The bunch of dirty diving divas that they've got. -

On that note just a few months back we actually really did think that. Chin up lads, enjoy this relegation shit show and the summer to come. -

True enough but you do get weird results and/or revivals in the relegation battle come the end of the season. Good thing is most of the Everton lot don't seem to have the attitude for it. Either way it should provide great entertainment watching them try to desperately hang on before dropping to the second tier, while we get bored with our uneventful mid table finish. -

Was just thinking that it'd be infuriating if they go down instead of Everton. They have City, Arsenal and Chelsea to play so it's a real possibility. -

Freaking Burnley, they needed a win here. I can see Everton surviving now. -
This was always going to be a frustrating game bar some miracle, the gulf in quality is too wide. I suppose it's encouraging we hung on till the end and didn't get a drubbing. Need that quality up front to have at least a bit of threat in games like these. Becoming clearer with each passing day ASM may not be the answer.

Social media definitely had a role to play. This is an interesting article on the impact of social media over the last few years. A bit long but a good read imo: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2022/05/social-media-democracy-trust-babel/629369/

Yeah its his second term now, and each year has seen rising polarization and radicalization. I knew a ton of Muslim Indian guys while working in Dubai who had genuinely started planning to move their families out of India. And a lot of the Hindu ones recognize what's going on but still favor him mostly for the same reason you mentioned. Even if Modi is not directly in power in the coming years he wields significant influence over the RSS which is the real problem. And they've got successors lined up in any case. A dangerous situation in a country where the minorities number in the hundreds of millions.

Yeah fair enough mate, I'm more saying it is what it is rather than questioning why. It's the same in the East now. I said this somewhere earlier on in this thread. This war has exposed that. A lot of people raising voices for Syria or Palestine wont do the same for Ukraine because we associate less with them. Perhaps its natural, but we need to do better. Forming organizations like the UN doesn't seemed to have helped much, hijacked by the same power players that cause most of these conflicts in the first place.

Here's the next major right-wing nut job that most are still coddling up:
-
I get why it would be very disappointing, but isn't that's what happened pretty much throughout history? Ukraine may be more important then Syria and Yemen but it's still no France or England. We've always but value on human blood and we always will.
-
Aye. I haven't been reading too much about what's going on in Germany etc. to be honest but you would think pressurizing them to stop buying the gas should be the next major step, before direct conflict. That's a major recession and huge problems of course but still preferable to nuclear war surely if that's really on the table now?
-
How does Putin actually think they can pull of a wider conventional conflict given their failures in Ukraine so far? What does he have up his sleeve? If the objective is restoration of some semblance of the USSR than going nuclear isn't really going to achieve that is it? Remember when Turkey shot down that Russian jet near Syria and there were fears of a major response against NATO? I remember reading an article or two where the military strategists seemed to think Russia would need a few days to blitzkrieg across Europe right up to England's doorstep and all the calculations where how many days Europe could hold off before the US war machine is fully mobilized. Seems a bit silly now all that
-
Looks like Germany is ready to cave in to the demand to pay for gas in rubles. I don't think Europe is ready to take an economic hit and you lot are talking of fighting a nuclear war for freedom.

Some game at the Etihad this. Real have been battered but they just dont go away do they. -
Aye that has to be it, but it's still strange to see owners not carrying out proper due diligence with what the cost of failure in the Premier league is now. Hodgson is another good shout. Got in at Liverpool ffs
-
Oh Fat Sam McClaren was in the new the other day. We've been through some turgid shite over the years alright.
-
Any club, including us, that hires him deserves what they get. And he absolutely deserves being exposed in the way he has been at many clubs now, as a completely hopeless lazy incompetent 'manager'. That he drags his useless son everywhere with him tells you everything you need to know about how the guy will run the place. We're bloody fortunate to have moved onto infinitely better things but just reading his name is still a bit of a trigger Are decent coaches really that hard to find? I wouldn't be surprised if he manages to land another championship job. Perhaps another couple of those before he moves onto league one. Am inglorious reunion with a certain club perhaps.

Come to think of it, he could come in handy as backup
