Why did they buy Gakpo again when they clearly needed a midfielder? And the level of some of the players you see that cost 60M these days can be shocking. The hype a few good games can bring you these days. NUFC are spot on with the current strategy of going in for players that have been handpicked for the system, and being patient for opportunities.

Finally watched Andor and thought it was class. Especially the latter half of it. Funny how Star Wars is able to put out decent stuff when they let go of the skywalker crap, Rogue One another example.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

A few articles on Everton's plight doing the rounds today, ventured onto an Everton forum from there and boy is it tasty reading -
Just been reading some of that, it truly sounds like an absolute shambles Hope they've got similarly competent people who're planning their finances. Can't be great for the dressing room atmosphere either, Ziyech must be seething. Craig just made a good point comparing this to how we've dealth with Shelvey.
-
Well the definition of absolute disaster seems to have changed significantly over the last 12 months

Still no confirmation on the Jonjo deal btw

I'm convinced Gloom owns at least half the social media accounts paying tributes to Shelvey today.
-
The Shelvey love in on Twitter has been doing my head in. You'd think he was Rob Lee ffs. We have Willock who can slot in at CM. Anderson a gamble if things really get to shite. It's not a great situation and would have been ideal to get a replacement for Shelvey but this is where our squad is. If either of Schar or Botman are injured we are screwed. If Tripper is, we are screwed. There's weaknesses that will take a few windows to resolve. The club has been clear in their approach that they will go only for the right man. Bit of patience and perspective needed.

Exactly 6 foot apparently so just makes the cut

I don't think they're trying to rescue this season now. This is all mean to give Potter something to build for next season. Aresenal just seem to have a good relationship with other top clubs. Probably because they haven't been a real threat for a while.
-
They wont deal with us as top 4 rivals but Arsenal is fine?
-
Seem to be a putting a lot of faith in the Potter project. I wonder what they'll do if it doesn't work out with him and they've spent a few years' budget on his players. Will they be as patient as Arsenal have with Arteta? Arsenal didn't have the same outlay though and could afford a few years in and out of the CL.
-
They're spreading the spend over a number of years aren't they. Even the Enzo proposal is supposed to be in installments. Could be 25M a year or something like that. I'm harbouring the hope they fail to qualify for the CL for a couple of years and end up with some sort of liquidity issues.
