Realistically I think we are looking at 6th now, which would still be a great season. Hope we have a bit of fun with the pressure off now. Unleash the Maxi/Isak/Gordon combo upfront for Wolves, Wilson and Miggy need some time on the bench. Also hope Targett sees some more game time soon, get us some fluidity down the left.

Aye spot on. And its clear the ownership strongly buys into what success could mean, not just for the club and city but also building a historic legacy. The last year still feels surreal. This is Newcastle United, just can't help shake the feeling something bad is around the corner. I know there is no logical reason for it right now and it's quite likely we'll be banking silverware soon. -

Amnesty International have a thing for us don't they. Maybe I've missed it but haven't noted a peep out of them about the Qatari Man Utd bid. -
Aye but considering we shipped Wood off for $15M plus loan fee, I'm confident Ashworth can convince someone to take Lascelles if we pay them $5M.

Purely because its NUFC I wouldn't be surprised if PIF decided to bugger off. No logical or practical reason to think that would happen though. Just look at what they paid for us. They know they could turn us into a PL/CL winning club in 5-7 years in less than the money Liverpool are asking to be bought for. -

Why does the article say 'despite the defeat in the final' or 'plans remain unchanged after the defeat' as if the club's long term investment plans were based on a surprise run on a cup final? Oh its 90min -
Fantasy shopping list might have a Theo Hernandez or Alphonso Davies you'd think but each to their own

Just looked up Shaw is 27? He looks at least 36 tbh and has been around for ages
-
No way we go in for Shaw, even if he wanted to come, would cost too much for his age. Been linked to Tierney, who is 25, not a guaranteed starter at Arsenal, and a significant upgrade on Burn at LB. Much more fitted to our recruitment model.

Gordon and Isak in for Miggy and Wilson. I know Maxi had zero end product again but he was still the only one who was trying to make something happen, he deserves another chance. There's no pressure on us now really. Spurs will be favorties for 4th. City will not setup defensively at home. Let the lads have a good crack, try to score a goal or two and play fearlessly.

Bitterly disappointed of course but still feeling better than what I'd thought I'd be. A lot of you have already spoken about the reasons why. Early in the project etc etc It's just come a couple of years early, it would have been amazing if we'd won. You can't overhaul a whole squad in a couple of windows. Not even City could do that without FFP. The squad's failings are becoming more evident as the season goes on. It was always going to happen, there's only so much you can do with superhuman energy and astute tactics. Quite disappointed in Wilson. He was such a miss for us when he couldn't play, he's almost a liability now. Love Burn, Miggy, Longstaff and ASM but they are not the standard of a team that wants to challenge top 4 regularly. I hope we can upgrade at least half these players in the summer. Roll on new sponsorships. Isak's cameo was promising again today. There is a seriously dangerous player in there with the right grooming. I forgot we have Gordon now too. Thing will probably get worse at City before they get better but hopefully we can stay in the hunt for Europe.
