Yep, Oliver Holt is the most tragic of all. He has completely changed his narrative whereas I think Miguel Delaney has been relatively consistent over the years. I don’t actually know if Tariq Panja is a sports journalist or a political journalist as I can’t ever remember seeing his name apart from his student newspaper articles on the Saudis I see get retweeted on Twitter. I imagine him to be about 19 years old though. Anyway, fuck them all.

What a day. Great performance, Ryan Fraser was brilliant, Howe has transformed Joelinton and Schar. Targett is really solid, would much rather have him than Digne. That was as comfortable as it comes, can’t remember the last time I was so relaxed with a Newcastle performance. Also met Souness on the train (he was heading to the rugby) who told me he thought Owen was shite and never wanted to sign him. Wanted Anelka apparently.

Owen - If only the fans knew the facts!

Unless you have video footage of Budgy Burridge shouting “Well done, he’s ten” then I’m afraid I can’t accept any attempt to defend Owen. -

He’s also an absolutely shocking pundit, properly boring as fuck with zero insight. It amazes me that he isn’t on Talksport alongside that other salad dodging fuckwit, Gabby Agbonlahor. -

Nah, I don’t buy that. It’s all about Owen being a horrible charmless little cunt. No way would the majority of pros act like that to a 13 year old. I refer you to the Toontastic Hall of Cunts thread which Owen won at a canter even though one of the other players is a kiddy fiddler who played for Sunderland. -
Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

It depends how much you really want see watch over the hill legends like Scott Nisbet blowing out their arse. Who the fuck is Scott Nisbet and if he is a ‘legend’ then who are some of the lesser known players? -
Absolutely howling at the last few pages of this thread and the forensic deconstruction of that post. We moved away from Newcastle when I was 8 years old so have never really encountered many Sunderland supporters. You’ll all know better than me but this RTG board surely can’t be representative? It feels like some kind of care in the community outreach scheme. I almost feel guilty laughing at it.

Really nice article, he was such a talented man. You have to admire his integrity. Not a festival lover but I always wanted to go to his festival in Carcassonne as it sounded absolutely brilliant.
-
Well let’s hope he’s worked on his act in the last 20 years.

I’m going to see Beck in June. I know about 2 of his songs but he is meant to be excellent live. If he doesn’t play those two songs I’ll be well pissed off.

Probably a better singer than posh spice though.

I’ll be in A&E with 3rd degree friction burns if we ever win a trophy.

At what point do we start to feel sorry for them? I think I’m still a fair way off but, if they get any more fucking tragic, I’ll start feel pangs of sympathy.

That’ll be all the trumpet polishing you were doing to Eddie Howe, yesterday. You’ll go blind.
-
No worries. In the home end for Brentford and Chelsea, would have been nice to go and not have to sit on my hands.

You can very much interest me if you still have it?

I’ve been a fully paid up member of the dry sheet brigade for quite some time. Let’s not get carried away though. Howe has done a good job so far, we look like we’ve remembered how to defend and are playing with a lot more energy. However, it is still very early days so let’s see where we are at the end of the season. That said, this shouldn’t in any way stop Gemmill from going on a stadium tour and having a good old sniff of the seat Eddie babes sits on.

One of my best pals was absolutely adamant that Captain Tom was a wrong ‘un. It was based on absolutely nothing but I’m starting to think he may have been onto something.

Agree with everything that everyone has said, what a man. He is hands down the best thing to have happened to Newcastle in my entire time supporting the club. Had the privilege of meeting him once, he was such a lovely bloke and was so generous with his time. He seemed totally unaffected by fame, a genuine man of the people.
