  1. LoL this coming from the lad supporting a team that let fabregas and god knows how many b-team players go for peanuts can't wait till you end up paying 20m or more to get them back You know why we let him go for peanuts? Because we have one of the best youth academies in the world. Xavi and Iniesta, both of whom came through our youth academy, were our starting midfielders and would be for years to come. He had to option for waiting for his chance, but he chose to leave. Fair enough to him. But we can afford to do that because for years, we have invested in our own infrastructure, we produce a majority of our own players. Also, we always give our youngsters a chance to make it, each year a handful of them get promoted to the first team. Its a model that premiership teams like yourself would do well to follow, you won't see results for 5-10 years, but after that, you will be relatively self sustaining. If Ashley really wanted to invest in Newcastle, he should invest in helping Newcastle create a world class youth academy. chompchomp Entering into an arguement with a Barca fan over whose club is run best is a foolish idead my friend! Too true. A club run by it's members, with no need for corporate sponsorship, with some of the best players in the world, against our debacle of a club. Anyway, we really need to be winning our home games against the likes of West Ham but my money is on all three promoted clubs going back down. Hull aren't too far from being dragged back into it.
  2. I am sorry if you are prepared to laugh at a scoreline of 5 fkn 1, but I am not. It is shocking and unlike you I am thinking ahead. This is not only a loss but a catalyst for further losses, demoralised team. What else is there to do but laugh? Did you just watch the same game as me? It could have been 10! If you have any sense you'll write this game off because we were never going to get anything out of it and start looking ahead to our next league game which is a winnable one at home to West Ham. Exactly, it's for this sort of situation that gallows humour is designed. Just need to forget about today and hope we have a few more players available for our next match.
  3. He did touch him. A bit soft but still a penalty. Liverpool have been good, but we have been fucking shocking, couldn't have agued it they had scored ten.
  4. This has been like a training match for Gerrard. Looked like Collocini was running in treacle there.
  5. Ten Storey Love Song is one of my all time favourites.
  6. I live near the Brick Lane area, very close to the East London Mosque. I can certainly say that I do not feel like a second class citizen even though I live in a predominantly muslim area. The area is a mix of muslims, non-muslims from India/Bangladesh/Pakistan and white city types (due to the fact that it is walking distance to the city). From my (an friends who also live in the area) experience of living here for a few years, I have never had any bother. Groups do tend to keep to themselves (but that happens in most walks of life), everyone seems to respect to each other and I think it is a pretty good example of integration working. I certainly don't have a problem with signs being in English and Punjabi. I don't think the English language should be enforced upon everyone, just ask all the British expats on the Costa del Sol. What do I know though, I've only lived here for a few years and witnessed integration working successfully. You, however, walked around and saw some signs in punjabi clearly demonstrating that integration isn't working.
  7. I personally think that Butcher answered a question that was put to him honestly. The question is, if he had not been prompted would he have brought it up of his own accord? I'm convinced he wouldn't. Far from it being Butcher who is being pathetic, I think the Scottish media need to take a long hard look at themselves and what they're asking in a press conference. It's them that's digging up 22 year old history, not Maradona nor Butcher. I'm in total agreement that the media are just stirring things up. I also agree that Butcher answered a question that was put to him honestly. However, in my opinion, his comments make him sound like a prick and a bit of a sore loser.
  8. I agree, pretty pathetic dredging up the past like this. People should let go. However, coming from a Scot, that is something else. The chorus of your national anthem is about a 700 year old battle! I personally think that Butcher is acting like a prick. A lot of footballers would have tried to get away with what Maradona did. He was an absolutely sensational footballer. A flawed genius, but a genius nonetheless.
  9. He was one of the programmers that worked on the game. There is quite a funny article on The Guardian website about Championship Manager. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/...yofsix-football
  10. Good to see him recognising Beardsley. They were some partnership. If I remember rightly, Gary Lineker also once said that Beardsley was his favourite ever strike partner.

  12. What??? No where near as bad. Certainly no raising of hands to the ref like Duff did. I didn't think it possible, but you are getting even more tedious by the day.
  13. Spot on, this boy sounds like a right gobshite. During the next transfer window expect to see us linked with Ronaldinho and Kaka as Sibierski and Bernard are wheeled through the doors on January 31st.
  14. they are tedious bastards like you ? Absolutely spot on. You get to ask the next question.
  15. Any chant based on something the individual can't control (race, sexuality, nationality etc) is out of order as far as I'm concerned. Dismissing it as 'banter' is essentially saying that racism, homophobia etc is socially acceptable. Why can't the Spurs fans sing about him being a judas and leave it at that without bringing his sexuality and race into it? As an aside, I don't see the problem with a player leaving at the end of his contract, that is the whole point of a contract after all. Players get pelters when they leave midway through their contract for not being loyal and pelters for leaving when their contract runs out also. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. That said, I understand that Campbell may have handled it badly and hence many perceive him to be a judas and therefore are entitled to sing about it as their perception of him as a judas is a consequence of some of his actions (ie. something he could control). Anyway, just my opinion.
  16. Fife. I know. There is pretty much nothing in Auchtermochty except maybe a decent Venison farm. It's only because it is on the way to St Andrews that I have been there. To be honest there's nothing much to Auchtermuchty. Its claim to faim is that it provided the set for 'Doctor Findlay'. I pass through it every so often on my way to visit my family in St Andrews (my home town). It's about 20 miles from there on the road up from Edinburgh. You might carry on to see St Andrews, quite a nice and picturesque town slightly over-run by posh students who were rejected by Oxford and Cambridge. As it happens, the Dunhill Links Champioship golf tournament is on in St Andrews this weekend, which involves professional and celebrity golfers playing together in teams. Check out the official website, but in the past I have met Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Samuel L Jackson, Alan Hansen, Ruud Gullit to name a few at this event (it's on every year). Confirmed celebrities this year include Hugh Grant and Huey Lewis. It's never really all that busy since the weather tends to be a bit unpredictable. Galleries watching the golf aren't huge. If you go to St Andrews, don't miss Janetta's ice cream shop on South Street - 52 different flavours, my favourite ice-cream shop. Sky Blue is my favourite flavour. Edinburgh is not bad for a stop-off, a few nice shops but it bores me after a few hours. Let us know how your trip goes. I studied at St.As, we weren't all posh although the majority were. I can remember playing for the Uni against Auchtermuchty Bellvue FC, they were rough as you like.
  17. Where the frig is Dennis Wise? I'd chuck Gary Neville in there too. For some reason, I've always disliked the guy.
  18. Auf Wiedersehn Pet - utterly brilliant!
  19. The article has just been written to get a reaction and, as Stevie has pointed out with the attendances, isn't the best researched. However, I agree with him to a certain extent on the Cockney Mafia stuff. Notwithstanding the fact that neither Ashsley or Wise are cockneys (in the truest sense of the word), it kind of perpetuates the impression that us geordies have a chip on our shoulders about Southerners. Ashley and Wise are twats, regardless of where they are from. Let's be honest, stuff like that does us no favours with the largely southern based media. That said, shite article and, as somebody else pointed out, don't e-mail him as that is what he is looking for.
  20. I heard something similar. I've a mate who knows one of the medical staff at Blackburn. Before the season started, he told me to put some money on (which I didn't, fortunately) Paul Ince to be first manager to go this season as the guy on the medical staff said that he was already extremely popular with the players. Granted, this link is a bit tenous coming from a mate of a mate as it does, but the lad has no real reason to lie. Oops, that should have said very unpopular. That is, they think he is a twat.

  22. Isn't Hitzfeld manager of Switzerland? He did well last night!
  23. Strachan is generally pretty good and Cloughie was class.
