  1. Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with a lot of the stuff the two Blackburn lads have posted. We are, and have been, a shambles for years. I'm really hoping that this season is a line in the sand and that in coming seasons we will have stability, ship out the overpaid wasters and bring in a squad who want to play for the club with the right winning mentality, not just the 'feck it, I'll be paid £60k a week, no matter what' mentality. I won't hold my breath. That said, regarding Fat Sam, I think he's a total one trick pony who will do very well at any club willing to sacrifice football for a place in the Premier League. The football his sides produce shouldn't be allowed on before the watershed.
  2. No need for a knee-jerk decision. Don't even consider making a decision until you've had at least eight pints of premium strength lager.
  3. Presumably she means getting them relegated. They were in all sorts of bother just before he left.
  4. Extremely harsh on Jonas. However, the mention of Nolan was entirely justified.
  5. Have you thought about going travelling? Instead of the slog of trying to find work in this market you could be off experiencing other countries and culture instead of being miserable in the UK. Hopefully, by the time you get back, the job market will have picked up, you'll have had a great experience and will have done something you'll remember for the rest of your life. Good chance of me getting the boot in the next few months so that's what I'll be doing.
  6. Just clicked on those links for the GG forum, some of the chat is desperate. I can see why Danny spends so much time on here.
  7. And another thread is reduced to a discussion about attendances. Feels like Groundhog Day.
  8. He's a fucking carthorse man. He does make forward runs but he doesn't look like getting on the end of anything. He then takes an eternity to get back down the other end of the pitch when the move breaks down. I'm far from Danny Guthrie's biggest fan but he has got to be a better option than Nolan.
  9. Very true. Pretty much sums up how we ended up with R Taylor (part-exchange), Lovenkrands (out of contract) and Nolan (going backwards at Bolton) in the last transfer window.
  10. Is it though? Maybe if they are on nack all wages but with thats not our case? Keeping someone like Barton who will be on £30k+ a week surley wont have a load of interest because of his baggae. Soooo, would you keep him or accept £2m for him? I would accept £2m if I was honest. £30+k a week for a Championship player is financial suicide! Getting rid of these players is easier said than done. Not many clubs are going to match the wages that the likes of Duff, Butt, Smith and Barton get at the moment. If they don't submit a transfer request and are sold then I think we would have to pay up their contract or subsidise their wages at a different club, much in the the same way that Leeds were doing with Danny Mills up until recently. It comes down to whether we want to subsidise these players to play for another club or not. As Matt pointed out, a transfer request would solve this as I think that they would then forgo loyalty payments and what not. However, given how much desire these lads have shown this season something tells me that money is more a driving force than football.
  11. No need for a banning, he's harmless and nothing he says is terribly offensive. Also, if you are allowing some of his rank patter to wind you up then you really need to have a word with yourself. Besides, whether it was intended as a wind-up or not, I see no problem with the Fire Sale thread he started today, far better discuss that than some of the nonsense arguments going on over in the General threads.
  12. The rumours are that Taggart is after Hutton for right back.
  13. It will come down to whether other Premier League or foreign clubs will actually want any of our players. I can see there being interest in Bassong, Martins, Jonas, Enrique, S Taylor, Beye and Colo with Viduka and Owen not having their contracts renewed. The rest are all Championship standard albeit on ridiculous Premier League wages. The thought of Butt and Nolan plodding around in the centre of our midfield in the Championship is just too depressing to contemplate.
  14. Was also on 'Loose Women' (I, erm, switched on to it by mistake, honest!) the other day. He seemed to be a lot better.
  15. Just had a look at the lineup, hardly seems worth it without Daz Sampson.
  16. I can see why he did it also and it makes me laugh that these managers/players stress the importance of getting a European place. It seems to me that the only team who took it seriously were Man City as they were midtable and had nothing else to play for. At the time they went out, Spurs were towards the bottom of the league and Villa were challenging for a CL spot, so they prioritised elsewhere. Once upon a time the UEFA Cup was fairly prestigious but now it ranks on a par or below the League Cup. It because the format is all wrong. If it went back to straight knock instead of all this qualifying rubbish, chip off the CL drop outs it would be a great competition. Too many games. The straight knock out would sort it, some of the matches in the group stages are a farce. I can't understand why they changed it. I don't think TV companies pay big money for UEFA TV rights. I remember a few years ago when Millwall (granted nnot the best example) got in and Bravo ended up paying £10k for the rights. They probably paid more for Fash FC.

  18. By which you mean? Obssesed BTW. Surely what he is saying is fairly obvious? Spurs were one of the best teams in the tournament and more than capable of winning it had Saggyface not put the youth team out against Shaktar Donetsk. Apart from anything, what he was saying was complimentary to Spurs. Unfortunately, since you've taken such a pasting on this board over the last week, you're not thinking straight so you're just posting without reading the post you are replying to. Honestly, next time you think about posting, take a deep breath, engage your brain, think about whether what you are about to post makes sense, and then press the 'Add Reply' button. Anyway, it's Friday and you'll soon be able to put this week behind you.
  19. In terms of comedies, Bill Murray's character in Caddyshack has always been a personal favourite of mine.
  20. You had a point with the flag. You can get fucking stuffed if you think we're changing everything on this forum just to suit you though... Is the right answer. He'll be asking for admin rights next.
  21. It seems to be that ever since Spurs bought Palacios, they have stepped up a gear. I can't really see us getting anything from this one but I live in hope and we do have a habit of picking up results against them. Would probably go with. -----------------------------------Harper ------------S Taylor (if fit)------Edgar-------- Bassong -----Beye--------------------------------------------Enrique (if fit) ------------------------Butt--------------Guthrie ---------------------------------Jonas ------------------------Carroll------------Owen I think Edgar probably deserevs to still be in there after last week. I think Nolan, Ameobi and R Taylor deserve to be dropped.
  22. Come on Tom, you really don't wan't to go down that route. these are all shit arguments, we sold the amount of tickets we took. its not like we asked for 10 tickets, we shifted a fair few for a silly early sunday morning kick off and at a stupid price, things have to be taken into consideration. Fair enough but when Stevie starts banging on about taking 8K to Wigan on a Tuesday night, don't expect me to hold my tongue. Or you could just ignore him. What the fuck does it matter who gets what support?
  23. That'll probably be Tommy Smyth, he's an utter half-wit. If he starts referring to the goal as 'the ole onion bag' then it's definitely him. I lived in the US for a while and he's that bad that I used to put the Spanish commentary on instead.
  24. Judging by that goal United! What a strike!
  25. Well I'm sure he'll be back soon and then you and him can continue your fucking tedious our fans are better than your fans/our club is bigger than your club style arguments.
