Neil Taylor Transfer Saga & Other Adventures...
Billy Whitehurst replied to @yourservice's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think I know how this Neil Taylor thing will pan out. He'll desperately want to sign for Everton but we'll offer him £70k a week (so flippant are we currently with our wage bill) so he'll begrudgingly join us. Either that or he'll sign for us to be a back-up left back and Ajax Andy will flounce off with his tail between his legs once again. -
Cheick Tiote vs David Batty
Billy Whitehurst replied to Kevin S. Assilleekunt's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'd be interested to know if the people who prefer Batty are doing this on the basis of his contribution to Newcastle. As people have rightly noted, his ball retention was excellent and he was good player in his specific role. However, I think he was far more effective at Leeds and Blackburn than he was at Newcastle as I think his style of play slowed us down and made us less effective. I thought we lost some of our urgency after he joined. -
Cheick Tiote vs David Batty

I didn't think they let you on the net at your new place.... Batty was always breaking up our forward movements by knocking the ball backwards and sideways. It Tiote keeps it up next season, he wins hands down. Have to use the iPhone these days. Agreed regarding Mr T. If he continues this season's form into next, comparing Tiote to Batty will be like comparing Shearer to Cordone. -
Cheick Tiote vs David Batty
Billy Whitehurst replied to Kevin S. Assilleekunt's topic in Newcastle Forum
Was never a big fan of Batty and can't remember any incisive through balls. Always thought of him as a sideways passer. I think he had a negative effect on the team in that he seemed to slow us down and stop our momentum going forward. I think in the holding role he was a good player but not suitable for the team we were at the time. -
Is Michael Owen an Agent of Evil?
Billy Whitehurst replied to Ayatollah Hermione's topic in Newcastle Forum
What an odious little cunt. Professional footballer and still reduced to snide comments like that. Can't understand the mentality, if I was blessed with ability to play football in front of a crowd for a living then I'd want to do it as often as possible. -
So he's played 33 times for England despite spending most of his career on the treatment table - must be shite.

Dyer was one of the most gifted players we've ever had when he was fit. His finishing wasn't great though. Wonder what value a 20 year old Scholes would be worth now. He really wasn't. He could run fast with the ball but he couldn't shoot from distance, finish from close range or pass a ball more than 10 yards. Add that to the fact he had glass legs and an alleged habit of drugs/gang bangs/WWF shows and he was probably the biggest waste of wages we have had at the club in a long time. Cemented by the fact that he has managed 15 starts in West Hams last 152 league games. Don't agree. I always thought we looked a different team with Dyer in it, he made a big difference. We played with a lot more urgency with him in the team, he also linked brilliantly with Solano. He was a waste of money as he never played anywhere near enough but I thought he was a class player, albeit an utter knob.

As someone mentioned, Orwell wrote more than one good book. 'Down and out in Paris and London' and 'Homage to Catalonia' are both brilliant. I also love 'Coming up for air' and 'Keep the aspidistra flying', he seems to have a real understanding of human nature. I think I read somewhere that he was once taught by Huxley but that he was more influenced by Zamatin 'We' (which I found hard work') than BNW. I just can't get into Huxley's stuff as easily as I can Orwell's.

I worked on 42nd street regularly for 2 years as my boss/company HQ was based there. I used to stay in the W on Lexington and walk to work. Amazing energy and so different to travelling to work in London (or Paris). Its mainly the impact of the environment on you, the enormity of the architecture, the slickness of the design, the people, the bars, the shops, the restaurants, the women, the craziness of life lived as fast as life is lived on the planet. Manhattan is for youngish people though, everyone goes out after work too, i think everyone moves to Brooklyn when they have kids. My best mate got married in Central Park, he lived there for 6 months building up contacts in the music industry. We've had some legendary weekends but the one where we both played in this club near NYU and ended up in a ketamine party in a loft in Tribeca was pretty classic. The same weekend i pulled an Italian bird who loved it in the wrongun (catholic). The possibilities there are literally endless and yanks are quite odd when it comes to meeting people, if you've had an introduction you are welcome to hang out. Agree with all that, it a pretty unique place. Worked in NYC for 2 years when I was 23/24. Lived on 50th and 9th and worked on 42nd and 7th. Each day was a massive experience, I got a buzz as soon as I left the apartment. Was single when I was over there so had a belting time. I'd say it's more a place to experience rather to go sightseeing as I can't really put my finger on what made it so great for me. I go back once or twice a year and I'm giddy every time I land. That said, 2 years was enough for me. Far prefer the pace of life and outlook of the people in European cities but, for a short trip, nothing beats it.

Agree with the Bergkamp suggestion. Always thought he was a right sly fucker even if he was a cracking player.

Off the top of my head, based on players currently playing or who have played this season. My all time list involves a lot of thought and too much rage before the long weekend. Boruc G Neville © Materazzi Lucio Terry Savage Henry De Jong Muscat Diouf Owen

I think he was struck by some rotten luck, however that was in addition to some shocking decisions. The main piece of bad luck was Shearer's injury, but he still ruined everything. I agree with Holden McGroin, I'd go as far to say this about Dalglish, he did more damage to Newcastle, than Souness, Ashley and Allardyce put together. His reign was a catastrophe, and it took us years to recover from his mis-management and poor decision making. Absolutely spot on, all of that. He ruined us and then had the cheek to fuck us over for compensation. What do you make of this dippers comparison between Keegan and Dalglish In terms of what they did at Newcastle, there is simply no comparison. The change Keegan brought about was nothing short of remarkable when you consider the state we were in/had been in for many of years before he took over. For me, Kevin Keegan is the best thing to have happened to this club in my lifetime. Equally, the manner in which Dalglish dismanted all of Keegan's good work was nothing short of remarkable.

I donno if it's still there like but there was one about 10 years ago between The White Horse at Parsons Green, and Dawes Road, on Munster Road ran by Greeks absolutely superb, but you're right everywhere else is fuckin shite. Long way to go for you from Croydon to Fulham just for a decent fish and chips. Broadly agree but there are still some good ones. Masters Super Fish on Waterloo Road and Happy Days by Aldgate are both very good.

Different culture mate. While the Japanese are currently facing hell on earth, here in Australia a 101 year old lady has her watch and shopping money stolen by a pair of middle aged men who obviously preyed on her and waited for an opportune time to nail her. A 95 year old blind woman gets bashed and robbed and an 80 year old bloke coming home from watching the movies gets pummeled and is left lying on the middle of the road. On the weekend a few coppers get blood spat in their face for trying to break up a fight. I've always said Australia and particularly America are our naughty kids who have turned in to right wronguns. unfortunately, import all the bad 'uns and you go the same way, like the UK is doing. etc etc ad infinitum obvious even to a blind man. I was down in London this week and practically anybody who serves you in food jobs etc or any low paid service industry is an EC (former Eastern bloc) or third country worker. The overwhelming majority are here grafting. To call them all 'bad uns' is laughable and based on nowt more than the Daily Mail's fabrication of the truth. A smart lad like you should get yourself out there and see it for yourself rather than being spoon fed what to think by the media. There are some 'bad uns' but broadly speaking as a percentage base they'll mirror UK indigenous 'bad uns'. Any non-British national (individually) in breach of the law should be considered for deportation. That's a perfectly fair and proportionate position to take and I don't think anyone would disagree, but your starting point generalisation (above) is just racism at the end of the day whichever way you dress it up. hoho. I don't read the Daily Mail, as you stalk me so much you should have read me posting this many times. I've seen enough of the world sonny, thank you. Save your namby pamby liberalism for someone else. At the end of the day, screaming "racist" at people who can see the direction the country is going and are concerned about it, is the act of a laughable leftie tosspot who sits in an ivory tower, brainwashed and a blind fool. I don't know where you think you are a smart lad, because for me you're just a complete idiot with an ego problem who can't even admit when they are wrong. If we can get "Guardian reader", "Shepherd and Hall" or "hippy" in there then I'm calling Leazes' Bingo.

Home to Spurs towards the end of the 84/85 - we lost, 3-2 or 4-2 I think. Not long after that, Waddle went to Spurs.

Or £185 to watch the final of the trampolining or £175 to watch the final of the synchronised swimming - absolutely mental. Looking through the list, the football looks about the only affordable event.

is this the shitest selection of strikers in your lifetime?
Billy Whitehurst replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Billy Whitehurst and Tony Cunningham for me, absolutely abysmal. Made Stroller and Best look like Shearer and Sheringham. -
Is the correct answer. I've tried a few other boots (Adipure, Predators etc) but nothing comes close to a pair of Copas.

Yeah, at the cost of $20 lost in gambling per drink. Your talking out of your arse mate! Go on the 1c slot machines, you'd be hard pressed to get through an hour without winning your $1 back Fish, regardless of people on here blatantly jealous that your going on holiday and they aren't, DO go to the Grand Canyon, Eagle Point is a must see. And on the way back DO spend the night in Vegas. When else are you going to be that close to either of them? You won't regret it Sounds like some drinking session that, sat at a fruit machine among all the blue rinse brigade pretending to play a 1c slot machine just to get a drink. Always imagined Vegas to be a bit more glam than that.
