I went to that game at Cappielow. My dad knew someone who worked at Morton so we got to go to the dressing room before the game. Gazza came and met me and my brother and introduced us to all the players and took the piss out of them all (particularly Brian Tinnion). Gazza was so friendly and really went out his way for me and my brother, genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met. He then practically ran the whole length of the pitch and rounded Dave Wylie (Morton keeper) who brought him down for the penalty which he duly scored. Gazza was about a thousand times better than anyone else on the pitch, it was like watching a Premier League player guest starring for a Sunday League team (we had some utter dross in those days). I think we signed Archie Gourlay from Morton round about then.

Maybe the teams that we have played are in the lower half because we weren't kind enough to lose to them ?? We got 3 total points last year from the same fixtures. OH (edit) and good post Chez That’s fair point but it could be that they are plain shite. Two narrow home wins against teams in 17th and 18th place is nowt to shout about, and the Mackems have a psychological problem when it comes to playing NUFC. There’s far too much knee jerk drivel being spouted about our good start. Welcome as it is there is a long way to go before the reality of our transfer policy is known. It’s painful to watch opinion being blown around on the basis of a handful of random results. There was fuck all 'narrow' about the Blackburn game, we played them off the park, 3-1 flattered them. Agree we have a long way to go though, we've had an easy start to the season but have definitely exceeded expectations.

Materialism: The "What have you bought?" Thread
Billy Whitehurst replied to Tooj's topic in General Chat
Agree 100% with those saying get it spent. You're only young once Kevin, get it spent on booze, drugs, birds and gadgets. Saving is for when you get older. I studied in the late 90s so didn't need it (as there were no fees then) but I still maxed out the loans and had a belting time with the dosh. When it was time to pay it back it was peanuts and and I had some cracking memories as a result. -

I love liars like that, when it has gone from the slightly plausible to the utterly ridiculous, I love the sheer brass neck of them. I'd spend half my day trying to get more stories out of him. Used to have a lad, a total fantasist, playing for our Saturday amateur football team who claimed to have an endorsement deal with adidas and also claimed his Sunday 7-a-side team was littered with ex Romanian and Ghanaian internationals. He once promised to bring a keeper only to turn up on his tod saying his mate was on international duty that weekend. I loved his chat. Sadly, he left us to go and play for Charlton (unsurprisingly he didn't appear in any of their squad lists).

Updated thoughts on Jonás Gutiérrez
Billy Whitehurst replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
If you sincerely believe that then the club is fucked! He gets his head down and runs, when he gets his head up he is clueless. who is better than those 4 like? i don't necessarily disagree about the club being fucked btw Would agree with that. Him, Collo, Saylor and Krul have been our best players so far this season. He puts some shift in, takes pressure off the defence and wins us loads of set pieces in the opposition half. His final product is generally shite like but he should still be one of the first names on the team sheet. -
Premier League star is a cocaine addict

The player was described as being a 'top footballer' so I don't think we've got anything to worry about. -

Saw 'The Skin I Live In'. I thought it was very good, well worth going to see. Pretty shocking but that's what you get with Almodovar films. -

I saw Tree of Life a few weeks ago. I was really looking forward to seeing it based on what I've seen of Terence Malick and also because Sean Penn was in it, but it was a total let down. It was far far too self-indulgent, loads of people walked out of the cinema. It's nicely shot but ridiculously pretentious, I wouldn't recommend it. Mrs liked it though. -
You've been watching a different game to me then. It's very open, England are playing some nice stuff albeit helped by a pretty poor oppo. It's been very fluid at times. Most England matches are shite but this isn't.

Love watching Football, Golf, Rugby, Darts, Tennis and Athletics. Never used to be into cricket but started watching during The Ashes in 2005 due to a bet with an Aussie workmate. I like it more and more I begin to understand it and watched pretty much all of the recent series. I think I must just be a gloryseeker due to the fact that my enthusiasm for the sport has coincided with England becoming the best. For me, although football is my favourite to watch, my favourite event to watch is The Ryder Cup.

You're part of the wider problem we have on these islands Kevin. You've left school with 8 GCSE's and you're thick as fuck. Show me where I have been racist so far. I don't think you have said anything explicitly racist but I am puzzled as to why you have felt the urge to repeatedly state that these people are predominantly black when we can all see this on the TV pictures. For me, they are just a shower of cunts, I don't care what their skin colour is.

I live in Tower Hill which is very close to a lot of these areas in Tower Hamlets. I've seen a few stickers and posters almost all of which have been vandalised (and rightly so). It's disgraceful trying to impose this sort of thing on people. In general, however, there seems to be zero tolerance for this extremism among the locals. I've never seen any trouble nor do I know of any non-muslims that have been targeted. I'm not saying it doesn't go on but it does lead me to believe that, yes, it is indeed a small minority which is generally the case with most forms of extremism. If this doesn't suit the right wing agenda then so be it but I just thought I'd offer the experience of someone who lives in one of these areas.

It's an interesting debate. Nobody chooses where they are born so, in that sense, I'm very pro-immigration. I think it should be down to the individual whether they choose to learn English or not. I really can't understand why they would choose not to as it would enrich their lives and give them so many more opportunities in this country. However, if they don't want to learn then I think it is the individuals choice and that should be respected. I certainly don't think the requirement to learn English should be forced upon them.

Billy Whitehurst replied to Rob W's topic in General Chat
Managed to stay out of these circular debates for a few months....if there's even been any, but I can't let a factual error like that go..... Europol Report: All Terrorists are Muslims…Except the 99.6% that Aren’t Whoah there, stop bringing your namby pamby, leftie looney, Guardian reading, do gooder, bacon hating, hippy facts into the debate. What have facts and statistics got to do with anything? Can we please keep this debate sensible and stick to what the voices in our heads are telling us. -
I'm with KSA on this one, I don't think CT is a particularly bad bloke and does seem to take a lot of the abuse he gets very well. I can't understand why anyone wants him banned. He's not ruined nearly as many of threads as that fucking tedious Ashley v Shepherd argument. I don't think he's the smartest of lads and does fall hook line and sinker for the bullshit that the club peddles but that's hardly a crime. I have some sympathy with him on the Enrique issue too. The club have handled badly but I reckon Enrique is using this as an excuse to hasten his exit.
