It's about time the board (albeit they're a new one) got a manager in that inspires the fans or at least causes some excitement. I was actually really optomistic when Sam joined us but we do need someone other than the likes of Hughes, McLaren, Bruce, etc.
-
Aye, just heard that too - experienced could be anyone 'other than Shearer' though, I'm actually starting to wonder if SSN's just covering their bets by dropping in these little off hand comments 'not a foreigner', 'experienced', etc. Just have to wait for something official to be said rather than listening to the numpties in the media.

oh ffs. Here we go again, roeder, souness, allardyce, hughes, much of a muchness. I didn't say he was nailed on. what's the odds on Terry Mac keeping his job? He's part of the furniture though

Yes its certainly possible and would be a dream for you as you could start an argument about the boards, Shepherd etc However I think attempting to sign Brown and sounding out a move for Diarra appears that they were prepared to back him. It was done so quickly and strangely with the backing, possible transfers that it certainly looks like there has either been a fall out over something or someone has given us the green light. That's what I'm thinking, it just doesn't make sense with all those very current things going on right up until 5pm this afternoon...

Yeah, it's all too quick and smooth so I'd have to agree that does sound likely.
-
Well, I must admit it'd make more sense IF it turns out that the whole "We're only looking at British managers statement" wasn't true, especially after Anal's comments at the weekend.
-
"SSN understands" Ahhhh, in that case - GET JOSE IN!
-
I thought it was an official statement according to SSN
-
I did, but only based on the statement that the club wasn't looking at a 'foreign' manager and there wasn't much choice on the British front.
-
So, judging from the bookies who have Shearer, Venables, Keegan and McLaren down as the British managers with the best odds who would you take out of them? More to the point if the club's already restricting themselves to British coaches who else is there apart from those four? Redknapp? Curbishley? Hughes? None of those seem likely, well, maybe Hughes is a possibility but would he deliver the type of football wanted? Some bloke on SSN said something about having Keegan as manager with Shearer as number two, would that work? It might but I don't like the idea of a manager being forced in to taking an assistant not of his choice.

To be honest the way it's come about I think it's more than likely that Sam initiated it and wanted to go, maybe to save any reputation he has. Let's face it he can turn around and say he was in an impossible job with too much unjustified pressure (ala what the press thinks). I'm not as concerned with who we'll get in now we have a different board to last time and I actually wouldn't be against the signing of Shearer as manager - I have a feeling, however irrational, that he may be able to do a job for us - the only thing that worries me is is that my head or heart talking?

So, does the term 'spastic' just refer to those affected by Cerebral Palsy? I mean I know it came from 'Spastic Society' but I always thought it was a derogatory term that was used generally for disabled folk. Something else, apparently it means something else in America, trust them to change the meaning of a good old fashioned English word. As it happens there's a make of wheelchair in the US call Spaz, it was banned from being marketed over here though in case it upset people - check the link, they look quite cool for wheel chairs. I thought he was only a little fella... ... still a cunt though

I know in the past people have jumped on the bandwagon to slag Shearer off (something to this day I still don't understand), though to be fair it's usually the media guttersnipes that seem to spew the most hated bile about him BUT I don't see how anyone can pass judgement on what he may or may not be like as a manager. In fact it pretty much pisses me off how the guy's written of as shite before he's even been in a managerial situation. It's right that there are good managers and bad managers but to be honest until Shearer's had a crack - wherever that may be - it's a non debate. He's got attributes as far as I can see that should in theory make him pretty good but then he's also got flaws, on the up side Roeder's team certainly seemed to be better with him in as assistant manager but the job of assistant is totally different to manager. Shearer's also gained the majority of his coaching qualifications and apparently did quite well but then so did Stuart Pearce and look what happened to him. What I'm trying to say is Shearer is a legend for us and there will always be rose tinted anticipation for him doing a job for us, it may come off or it may crash and burn but until he does it I don't see how anyone can write him off and worse still slag him off. I've not got this 'messiahitis'... much, I just don't like to see people giving Big Al undue grief.

I thought that, what a chubby bastard - old fashioned player him like.
-
It's refreshing to see interviews with fans who show the majority feeling rather than the dross SkySports show
-
I reckon anyone could look bad in our team as things stand
-
In one sense, you can't help but laugh, but in another - you have to be ashamed that we have people who actually think this is going to happen!! I have a snkeaing suspicion that it might have been a mackem or other such low-life on the wind up though... maybe.
-
Kelly Brook's got cracking knockers though
-
Other than a number of cringe-worthy statements, I agree. Sad but true, he's saying the same as most on here - might be non-imaginative but it's spot on really.
-
Are these the magic numbers these days? So really it would only cost £20m , and thats in exaggerated paper terms That's what I was thinking, they just pull figures out of the air, jokers.
-
I've not felt confidence in the team or entertainment since he was our manager, and what a manager he was - legend.
-
Don't think so, I saw conclusive evidence that Zoggy should not be playing left-back. He was causing all kinds of problems for Chelsea'when he was leaving his position and running at them and he needs to be in a position where he can do that all the time and not leave us exposed at the full-back position. There second goal was obviouly offside and we deserved a point at the very least. Yeah, I should have said 'apart from playing Zoggy at LB' , other that it seemed okay though.
