The Official Toontastic © Transfer Dealine Day Thread ™
TheMoog replied to Tom's topic in Newcastle Forum
I don't see what you lot are getting het up about, I haven't seen any transfers of players going to other clubs that'd have been worth us going for tbh. I think Kev's right, there really isn't anyone out there worth going for just yet - I'd have liked Van Buyten but it's not that depressing that nobody's come in so far. Another two weeks and Kev will have the lads from the African nations to play so it's not as if our squad is that bad for the remainder of the season. and come summer we'll have that much more scope on who we can go for instead of just anyone for the sake of it. -
Robbing houses and dipping bins must pay well...
-
Don't see the point of this really unless we're losing Harper or Krul sometime soon, still I'm not adverse to us getting new talent in, there's always the opportunity to make a profit further down the line if they turn out half decent.
-
Who is expecting miracles? Apparently anyone other than Newcastle United supporters, the press for one, fans of other teams for another. It was a generalisation in case anyone was daft enough to think it.
-
I'm excited, anyone with half a brain couldn't expect miracles over-night. After what Kev did for us from start to finish (yes, including that slow start last time) I'm really looking forward to a long reign under Keegan.
-
This Alvaro must be tops if Birmingham were after him
-
We don't want his kind round here... *Spits on the ground*

Nah, not worried in the slightest. This season's not really that important, as long as we don't get pulled in to an unlikely relegation battle I can't see us having too many problems. We'll stabalise then strengthen during the summer, then come back stronger next season. King Kev needs to ignore any media hype crap that starts getting kicked upand concentrate on planning for next season tbh.
-
For anyone who's honestly concerned with Kev's impact on the club (god knows why anyone would be), I nabbed this from another post somewhere and it makes a good point: Nobody on this planet could come in to NUFC and turn things round overnight, Kev's last start with us was a battle but things came together given that little bit of time and patience. If you refuse to get behind Keegan managing our club then you shouldn't even have the cheek to call yourself a member of the Toon Army - just a worshiper of Southern shit-stirring hacks.

Dennis Wise quits Leeds to sign up for Newcastle revolution
TheMoog replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
To be honest I think it actually makes good sense for the club to bring in someone to run the youth team, bring on young starlets and scout for young players with potential. It's a good way of ensuring that Newcastle as a club don't miss out on future players like we did with Shearer or Carrick initially for example. I don't think Director of Football is the right term for Wise's new position, I suspect it's just the press getting it round their necks and just trying to make a story out of their own assumptions and ability to shit-stir. -

Ahhh, now that makes more sense. I thought it'd be a bit strange that Ashley and Mort would rock the boat so soon after going to the trouble and expense of bringing Keegan back to us - what a surprise that the press are trying to make a big thing of stirring already... -

That's how Chelsea was when they started winning things, just the world's jealousy tbh -

My boss is a Leeds fan and he reckons that Leeds haven't been doing too well since Poyet left for Spurs. This talk about Wise guiding them to a play-off place with a 15 point deduction wasn't down to Wise so the Leeds fans think. -
Turns out Spurs might turn Woodgate down for Gilberto instead after Woodgate snubbed their bid for him until he'd spoken to us... now that would be funny
-
As long as we as fans get behind Kev every week no matter what the shit stirring wankers write then fuck the lot of em. Toon insider my arse, there should be laws about writing speculative, non-exisitant crap.

I don't think there's any difference between the two, I don't see how the Dyer/Bower thing was a full blown fight when no punches were landed and yet the two Arsenal players make contact and draw blood but that's 'handbags'. If the ref had given the two of them reds I'm sure they'd have taken it further walking off the pitch, ridiculous double standards by the London scum, the FA and the police as per usual. Not fully sure why Newcastle fans are always playing this "victim" card. Why there is this general mentality that everyone is out to get you because you are Newcatle. I've seen it time and again, and it's really a bit ridiculous. You saw "I don't see how the Dyer/Bower thing was a full blown fight when no punches were landed". So if a man shoots somebody with a gun and misses, that's not an attempt to kill him? No action should be taken, just because the bullet missed? Because that is essentially the arguement you are making here, and it seems like you'll go to all lengths to make yourself and your club feel like victims and treated unfairly. That's not the point I was making at all actually, more that if the Bowyer/Dyer incident was seen as a dust up and worthy of all the crap that went with it then so should the incident that happened between the Arsenal pair. Both sets of players set about each other but only the Arsenal pair drew blood, the main difference between the two is that it happened off camera but then for the Police to get involved it took a complaint from a member of the public, not the video itself. The FA have the ability to review the situation yet do nothng about it as per usual, wouldn't want to penalize one of the 'top four', heaven forbid...
