  1. I reckon Beckham wanting to play through the middle is just a case of him thinking he's better than he is. In the middle, he's ordinary, he only lends the ball to players, and wants it too much. Yesterday he played far too deep. Out on the right though, he's a different kettle of fish. The whipped in ball he hits is the most dangerous ball in the game and he hits it brilliantly. He should stick to what he does best. 27941[/snapback] Although he played deep it allowed him to spread the play, it was his long pass to SWP that help set up the goal. He's no Makalele but he's disciplined enough to stay back. I think playing 4-5-1, he could to it no problem allowing Lampard/Gerrard to bomb on. It's a nice option to have, I suppose. But I agree I've always prefered Beckham on the right, he's still one of the best crosser's in the world, but I'd like SWP to play more games. Can't have it both ways I suppose
  2. I'd still like to see us get LBM afterall our squad depth is worryingly thin. But Fulham have him way over priced. Wouldn't pay more than £3m for him.
  3. Sven baffles me he really does. Granted i was only listening on the radio, but i still got the main idea. When 4-5-1/4-3-3 was announced i was up for it, afterall Owen was suspended, not like he was sitting on the bench being wasted like at Madrid. I was disappointed Defoe wouldn't get another chance but his time will come. The system seemed to sound good. Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham all in their favoured positions. A competitive debut for SWP and supported on the left by Cole. Effectively a similar system to Chelski, two attackers/wingers drifting to support lone striker. Personally at right back i would have gone with Phil Neville, far more experienced and does a good job. Everything looking good. Then, off goes SWP on comes Defoe. Taking off our best player? Now I thought back to 4-4-2, send Beckham out right, play as normal. But what does he do, shove Rooney out right? Same as he did on Andy Johnson's debut where he stood no chance. Whats more baffling... all this "Sven could drop anyone at any time, no one's place is safe" shit. Why not take off Lampard and Joe Cole, the poorest players on the pitch despite his goal. Ok the game served it's purpose, we didn't slip up in a must win game. Sven now appears to have a decent (first 30mins anyway) plan B that we needed against Portugal. I still question Sven's abilities and I think the World Cup is the decider for his job. If we don't progress to at least the QFs he'll be axed. Oh I agree Hargreaves does fuck all, I don't see him play regular but he doesn't do enough when he comes on to cement his place. Much rather see Carrick on.... our future England captain perhaps?
  4. I'm pleased. Robert - Don't get me wrong he was a character and you can't question his assist records. But I was pleased when he went. He constantly left our left side open for the opposition, most games he didn't even look interested. The only thing that kept him in the fans good books was the odd wonder goal. If he wasn't scoring those free kicks and didn't have those moments of magic I'm sure people would have wanted him gone. Luque - Haven't seen him play much. From the highlights from the Man Utd game he had some good touches. I reserve judgement for further games. Bellamy. Way over rated in my mind. He had pace which looked extra good around an ageing Shearer, granted we need pace. I wouldn't like to rely on him for goals, his finishing improved last season but he doesn't do it for me. And he was a gobby little shit that liked the headlines. Owen - Have I really got to say. He's 10x the player Bellamy is. You can't question his scoring record and he's got a pro attitude, something this club needs after last season. £16m - he's worth it.
  5. And our fans thought Freddy was on something when the bid rumours emerged.
  6. He'd have only have sat on the physio table all year
  7. Ok it's the day after the deadline but I'm that excited about our summer buys I can't help dreaming about who may come in when the January window opens? Hoping we will have some money to spend, since JJ money finances Owen deal. Hopefully we'll bolster defense... I'd love to see LB, RB and another CB but I think thats asking too much. Any thoughts?
  8. Off to Rangers for free. We'll sign him next season for £8m
  9. I still think I'm dreaming. Only one cock up this summer ... and we didn't even pay for Craig Moore. Emre, Parker, Luque, Owen, Solano It all sounds too good.
  10. We'll get rid in January, I think he was a desperate short term buy. Once Faye's gone we'll be left with a midfield that can pass.
  11. It's been a great summer but I gotta go for Owen. It's the first time we've had a world class striker since Shearer arrived. We need goals and who better than England's number 1 striker?
  12. Not alot of players are like Shola. Afterall Torres scores goals.
  13. We could sign Bernard, get Bridge in January and offload Baba on to the first unfortunate team that think they need him. I like the sound of that. Would Mourinho let Bridge go?
  14. I didn't think they were that desperate
  15. what do they mean Don't take your bitterness out on the guardian angel of fuckin toerags
  16. How longs this medical been going on for?
  17. Just scrolled upon this on SSN site Not a bad back up
  18. I'd like to see him back, he was better than Baba.
  19. This is looking like one hell of a day... who says we leave things to the last minute at this club?
  20. I'd welcome him back, we needsomeone who can cross, especially with a knackered Shearer. SSN: Nobby wants back, fans outside SJP singing his name. Anyway, yea bring him back.
  21. I always liked Jenas and like the coaches thought one day he would come good. If he wants out and Spurs are gonna be stupid enough to pay £9m get him shifted on, we need players that want to play for the club. Even if we get Nobby today I'm a bit worried about our midfield cover, especially if Milner goes on loan to Villa. Anyway, forget that, this day belongs to Michael Owen.
  22. SSN... 12 tomorrow presented in SJP. Looks like no last minute Liverpool bid. He's ours!
  23. Does this mean we have to praise Freddy for actually doing something usful.
