  1. Surely if the halls sell then he isn't holding the cards. Belgravia can vote him off the board. really? when his stake is close to 30%? i expect he will be the main stumbling block to any potential takeover. if he doesn't want it to happen he has a big enough stake to make it very difficult. That's my information too. The Halls are desperate for the cash and despite the public show of supporting fatty are furious that fatty will not sell or consider any offers.
  2. Cannot be him this time. No official announcement to Stock Exchange which he must make if involved in share dealings due to him being Chief Exec of the PLC
  3. I'm sorry Nov 8 2006 By Alan Oliver, The Evening Chronicle Scott Parker celebrates scoring in the Carling Cup against Watford Scott Parker left Vicarage Road with his head held high and his reputation restored after leading Newcastle United into the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Watford. Not only did the inspirational skipper grab a late injury time equaliser, but he also made his peace with the United travelling supporters and appears to have been forgiven by the Toon Army after apologising to them for his outburst in the dismal defeat by Sheffield United at St James's Park. On Saturday, the England international was involved in a shouting match with a section of home fans after he appeared to pull out of a tackle, and then sarcastically applauded supporters. But such were his efforts last night - and indeed all season - that long before his late extra-time equaliser, the magnificent travelling Toon Army were chanting their skipper's name. Both were rewarded when Parker became the first United skipper to lead the club to victory in a penalty shoot- out. Midnight was fast approaching as a clearly delighted Parker told me at an otherwise deserted Vicarage Road: "I know I should not have done what I did at St James's Park on Saturday and I can only say sorry and apologise to our supporters. "It was all heat-of-the-moment stuff when the passion and the pressure both boiled over. "All I can say in my defence is that all the players want to win for these magnificent fans we have got here at Newcastle United. "We know we were nowhere near what we should have been against Sheffield United on Saturday and that we did not apply ourselves. "We have come in for a lot of criticism since Saturday but we have stuck together and we have got our reward tonight and now we are really looking forward to take things on from here. "This was a very important victory for us to get into the last eight of the Carling Cup on a long night when not a lot of football was played. "Watford made it very difficult for us by putting the ball in the air for a lot of the time. "But when we did get it down and play a bit, we seemed to cut them open. "We should have been a couple of goals up at half-time, but it wasn't to be and this put a lot of pressure on us throughout the second half. "Even so, we could still have won it in normal time when Damien Duff hit the post and when they scored late on we showed great resilience to come back into it when Nobby Solano sent me in for our equaliser. "He saw me make my run and I left it late and there were a couple of things going through my mind. "I was going to shoot early on but it bobbled a bit and all I had to do was dink it over the top of the keeper. "Obviously, we are all delighted to have won and I must say that if we hadn't, we would have been devastated."
  4. Of course the noble, fat one cannot have anything to hide following on from reports that Bolton and Nufc want the agents/bungs inquiry to be halted, can he?
  5. Maybe so but my man on the right of my avatar would easily beat yours I was all for Parker being the new captain but he was totally in the wrong the way he reacted today.
  6. Sure is a bad sign when the captain has a right go back at the East Stand paddock. Looked to me like he shied out of a 50/50 and got some verbals which he made a point of returning and then sarcastically applauded the paddock. Was booed after every touch after that. I personally cannot understand booing the captain BUT he did shy out of the tackle and can understand fans anger. A very messy situation and does not auger well for the future I think. Today was the day when it was brought home that we will have real derby games next season and Keane aint going to get his team promoted.
  7. So who will be sold to fund any strikers as we are that skint it will have to be "sell before we buy"? The only two obvious deals where we could get any decent money back are Milner and Emre imho James, make sure you have your digs sorted out for Birmingham after Christmas son.
  8. Cannot agree more. The Duff and Martins deals are not included in the figures either (item 7 of the accounts) so after taking off the Faye and Boumsong income, that is roughly another 10mill expenditure. And I'd guess Duff's and Martins wages are more than Fayes and Boumsongs so the 63% figure could be even higher. The powder is that dry it has all blown away!!
  9. Just extracted this bit from the UK Wire bit today: Costs relating to changes in team management of £3,192,000 have been charged in the period (2005: £2,369,000). These comprise staff costs of £2,384,000 (2005: £2,369,000) and impairment of other intangible fixed assets of £808,000 (2005: £nil). What the £808,000 is about I have no idea but we have certainly paid out a whole lot of dosh to managerial failures. And, shock, horror, no dividend payment. Bet that annoys the Halls!! Details of fatty's salary will be in the report details that shareholders will receive very soon , I think.
  10. From where I was sitting it looked like he did catch their player with his forearm, not his elbow. Looked to me like wor Taylor caught their Taylor as he was holding him off while making his run. Their Taylor seemed to make a meal of it to me imho
  11. Source? One of the players who is not a bullshit merchant.
  12. And this is why O'neill had a change of heart and decided not come despite agreeing his contract. He was told that buying and selling players would NOT be in his remit so he told fatso where to stick his job (although not as abruptly as that) So we are left with fatso and his son deciding that Kluivert, Butt, Luque, Martins etc etc will be our purchases. There is no chance of any top class manager coming to Nufc with that fat git in control and the manager's authority being so undermined.
  13. I could not resist so had a cheating peep at the site to see the answer. All I can say is: Fookin Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. More on the takeover from the Guardian, the bit in bold confirms my fears that the fat twat has no intention of going but wants to keep the family silver. Suitor in talks but Shepherd denies he wants to sell his stake in Newcastle Michael Walker Tuesday October 3, 2006 The Guardian Freddy Shepherd, the Newcastle United chairman, said yesterday that he has no intention of selling his 29% shareholding in the immediate future, despite fresh speculation that the club are to be the subject of a takeover bid from the Jersey-registered Belgravia Group. Shepherd's stance will disappoint Belgravia, Sir John Hall, who is looking to sell his 41% family stake in Newcastle, and the section of the fan base that feels it is time for a change at the top of the club. However, there remains the possibility that such collective disappointment may be only temporary. There are no indications from Shepherd that he is willing to sell but he, Hall and Belgravia know that every business has its price. Shepherd made no direct comment on a weekend report that Newcastle have received an initial bid from Belgravia. But a spokesman for one of the chairman's other business interests, Shepherd Offshore, through which Shepherd holds his club shares, said: "It is well known the Hall family want to sell off their shares. Shepherd Offshore has not agreed to sell its shares to any party or agreed to dispose of them. We will always do what is best for the business and Newcastle, not any individual." Belgravia yesterday denied that it had lodged any formal bid but said that since August it has been "in discussions, which may or may not lead to a deal". Shepherd Offshore's statement is public confirmation of the divergence in direction between the Hall and Shepherd families. Sir John, life president of Newcastle in retirement, was fundamental to the reinvention of the club in the early 90s and the appointment of Kevin Keegan as manager. Hall's son Douglas remains deputy chairman. But it is Shepherd and his influential son Kenneth who are in daily control of the club. As such Belgravia, or any other potential buyer, would have to seek agreement to work in tandem with the Shepherds following a buy-out of the Halls, or persuade Shepherd to sell as well. An approximate stock market valuation of Newcastle United is £90m but it is believed that the current hierarchy would require a sum perhaps 30% higher if they are to sell. According to financial assessments of Belgravia that figure would be well within its scope but aside from confirmation of being in initial negotiations, the company has made no comment. It was established six years ago by the investment bankers Duncan Hickman and Ron Mitchell, who had sold a previously successful hedge fund. Kevin Bond, meanwhile, dismissed by Newcastle last week in the wake of the Panorama programme on alleged corruption in football, has emerged as a candidate for the vacant manager's job at Bournemouth. Les Ferdinand and Robert Lee, two former Newcastle players, have also been invited for interviews.
  15. Today's Express speculates on Sarge Goddard coming back as assistant manager!!
  16. Anyone know why Tommy Craig has left and where he has gone to? Must be a good conspiracy theory to go with his sudden disappearance.
  17. Which is a big relief but also shows how much we have dropped in the big game listings for Sky.
  18. I think True Faith's piece on Bellamy sums it up perfectly imho http://www.true-faith.co.uk/html/Features/bellamy.htm
  19. With the little welsh git involved, surely ANY scenes involved are bound to be ugly?
  20. More bitter bile from the failed ex-defence coach with his prediction for Saturday. After seeing the lad in complete agony, I'm surprised and grateful Obi wan kenobi is available. Prediction: 2-0 Both teams' strength lies in their home form, and both struggle on the road. So this will be Newcastle's game. Obafemi Martins is in line for a home debut after 10 days out with a dead leg. I have to say, I've never known anybody get carried off with a dead leg. If you had that long off with a dead leg 15 years ago they'd have cancelled your contract.
  21. Best serious post for a long time TP. Sums up the whole situation perfectly.
  22. He came strolling out of the tunnel at Villa just before kick-off with his mobile glued to his lug. Must have been a big race due to start at kick-off time! Isn't he Shearer's lackey at a pub near Ponteland, have heard he's the runner to the bar to get Big Al's drinks in for him.
  23. Well according to Bob Cass of the Sunday Mail, things could get interesting on the takeover front. Without typing in all the piece (my 1 finger typing is SO slow) he does say that the original first interested party, Polygon, have "given notice they plan to outbid their rivals from Jersey (Belgravia) and anybody else for that matter. The fly in the ointment, of course, is the immovable United fat twat (oops sorry, my finger slipped) chairman whose intransigence remains the biggest obstacle to any deal."
  24. And what have you said to young Milner after his disgusting treatment by you, you odious, fat, shite?
