  1. well, we're all for hearing suggestions, we have a few ideas of our own but would like to hear what people think of them and what other people's ideas are.
  2. Just to let you all know that NUSC are arranging another meeting, open to everyone on Wednesday February 4, 7.30pm at the Irish Centre on Gallowgate. You all know the situation at the club is getting progressively worse/desperate/depressing, and we want to get supporters together to discuss what we -as fans generally, rather than just NUSC should do about it. We're aware that we have our critics, and we'd like people to come along and tell us (NUSC) what you think - where we're going right, where we're going wrong. It's a desperate time for the club, and a time in which we as fans should be pulling together, because ultimately we all want the same thing from that club. We're still arranging some of the details, but at this stage we're looking at possibly having a few speakers, and once we finalise what's happening in the meeting, I'll update you again. Just letting you know it will be taking place, as a couple of these have been organised and announced at quite short notice for a lot of people in the past.
  3. That’s odd. I’ve been to all the members meetings and I don’t recall the subject of TF being discussed. I dont think Tom meant True Faith but the sentiment of the article. The general feeling of the interim committee is along the lines of what TF are saying. precisely. sorry for the confusion.
  4. Spot on, that's exactly the feeling within NUSC.
  5. I wasn't a regular, but I go in every now and then, and I like the place. Hopefully any changes won't be for the worse. I'm still reeling from The Forth's 'Makeover' booooo!
  6. In another season we could be rooted firmly in the bottom 3, we're just lucky that the league is being as bizarre as it is. Exactly
  7. I was concerned -even frightened about our situation before the game yesterday. I'm still concerned - even frightened. The game itself was average, but that's all. The defence were poor ( marvel at how they stood still and watch West Ham score their second), and we're crying out for a central midfielder who can get the ball forward and create chances and options for the strikers. We're handicapped when we put Geremi or Butt in because they have no pace and stifle the momentum of the whole midfield - dare I say it, the whole team. And yet, we're stuck for options of who we can put in there. The Liverpool game showed what happens to the defence if we lose one or two players to injuries/suspension. In other words, it goes from passable to shit. As for the forwards well, they don't get the service due to midfield problems (better service would do wonders for Owen and Martins, we all know that). We also have a problem with injuries. Martins - injured, Viduka - injured (yet again), Ameobi - injured (and shite), and we all know Owen can get injured easily, which leaves us with Andy Carroll, who is inexperienced. So, we pretty much need to urgently strengthen in all areas apart from Goalkeepers (but if Given goes....?). Basically, we're NOT going to do that. As things stand, I can't see us bringing in any player(s) that we really need. I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't bring anyone in at all. After all, how many players are going to look at NUFC at the minute, at how it's being run, at all the chaos and turmoil and think 'hmm, yes, I really want to play there!'? If we do get players in, I think that they will be in the cheap/desperate/sub-standard/not really that good mould, that will not improve the team, and will probably end up bieng virtually invisible - ala Xisco/Nacho Gonzalez. As has already been said, we're currently 11th - purely because we've played more games than other people, and not because we're improving, but because other teams have f*cked up worse than us. The fact is we're not playing well, and could quite easily become the one who f*cks up worse than others and going into freefall.
  8. Cheers. Haven't done much today, apart from being off work (and tomorrow as well). Went and bought a few books, dvds and some new trainers. Going out tomorrow night though.
  9. That's a manga-ised Taylor
  10. Seconded. Khans on Heaton Road is the same. More of a restaurant (again you take your own drink) but I think they do takeaways as well. Back to Takeaways proper, you've also got Red Hot Chilli just a couple of doors down from Cafe Spice which is dead nice as well.
  11. http://morph.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk/Transformer/ Anyone seen this before. Canny for mucking around with.
  12. I don't blame him at all. He deserves to win things, and has shown a tremendous loyalty to stick with us for this long with nothing to show for it (apart from our appreciation of him as fans). It would be sad if a player of his calibre were to retire having won no major honours, so I don't blame him at all. His (lawyer's) statement just shows what a shambles the club is in. No one seems to know what's going on. Joe Kinnear obviously has no idea about how the club is being run, or how his players feel. It's an absolute embarrassment, and if Mike Ashley is sticking around he needs to get his arse in gear and clean up this mess fast.
  13. Did anyone even see any collection buckets? I didn't see a single one I didn't liase with the police and the club on the collection buckets, but my understanding is that we only had permission to collect at the Gallowgate. That's the only place we were told to collect at. I'll certainly get clarification on that at the next meeting, because if we do any collections ion the future it's something we need to take into account, as is getting more volunteers out to collect, because we had an issue there as well.
  14. I was a bit disappointed with inside the ground myself. I'm not quite sure what happened there. We did have a banner, which was outside the Gallowgate for a bit while we were collecting money, but perhaps there were problems inside, I'm not sure. On the subject of the collection, I'd like to thank everyone who donated. 3 or 4 of us counted all the money from the collection after the game, and we've raised £2,626. Thanks very much!
  15. Unfortunately we've had no response from anyone at NUFC as yet. As for the website, a few of us will be meeting soon to discuss ideas as how we can improve and develop it. The website payment situation is something we know is a problem at the minute. I believe the problem is that we need to provide bank statements for paypal before they can activate the paypal account properly. I'm not entirely sure where we are with that as I'm neither setting up the paypal account nor dealing with the bank account. As far as I'm aware though we're getting closer to getting that sorted. Membership cards should be being sent out now. I did the welcome letter last week and sent it to the relevent people sending out the cards etc, so those of you who've paid up should have your card soon. We've put in orders for extra stuff that members will be getting - pin badges, car stickers, key rings etc so they should be coming through in a few weeks. We're looking at getting another members meeting in, probably in 2-3 weeks time and also an event for NUSC members possibly around Christmas but more likely just after the New Year
  16. The version I have covers the period from the 1880s up until about 1985, which was when I started watching NUFC. I remember getting for my birthday when I was 7.
  17. My personal non-League club, being a resident of Newcastle, are Benfield. I'm really pleased that Blyth won on Saturday.
  18. Can't remember Watson going in between the sticks but i do remember: Chris Hedworth/Peter Beardsley v West Ham - April 1986 Brian Tinnion v Blackpool - October 1987 Kevin Brock v Birmingham - November 1992 Amazingly we won two of those games... the least said about the West Ham game though, the better! Kevin Brock was badly concussed as well. Derek Wright was crouched behind the goal with smelling salts to revive him every now and then. He was taken to hospital after the game and had to stop in over night.
  19. To be fair, it is said over there that it is copied from you post on W-O. Aye, thats right, didn't realise you had wrote it Tom, why don't you sue for copyright? Who's this Peter Lee fella? If his prediction doesn't come good this week he wants told to fuck off as far as invites to future meetings are concerned, the last thing the club and NUSC need is bullshitters. to be fair, I don't think he will be back but we felt that dismissing him out of hand was wrong especially as we're learning from our mistakes at the mo! But if Chez is looking to invest a couple of grand then you're a braver person than me! Plus he looks like David Dickinson but with a better tan! I think basically,he got in contact with one or two people and the opportunity came about for him to come and say his bit. Whatever we think of him/his bid, he's thrown his hat in the ring and his group are therefore potential owners of NUFC, and I think it was fair enough to hear what he had to say. From what he's said on TV in the papers etc we were hugely sceptical, and he didn't say anything to change that, judging from what people were saying last night. Personally speaking, I found some of what he was saying pretty confusing and some of what he was saying seemed to contradict other things, to the extent where I honestly can't work out where he's coming from, how its going to work and where any fans chucking in a grand fit into the 'substantial funds' he already has from his businessmen experts and celebrities. I'm not saying I'm against him or his bid, just that I think he left us even more in the dark about how it would all work when we were hoping he would clarify and explain things. Perhaps his plans are sound and if they are, good luck to him, but it's not the impression he left us with last night.
  20. From Skunkers you say? I wrote that very update out when I got back from the meeting and posted it on N-O.
  21. As a Heatonian, I can confirm that parking here is an absolute nightmare ALL the time.

I went to Morrisons in Byker on my dinner break yesterday, but they'd sold out. Got back to work and saw an ad in The Metro that Blockbuster was doing it for £35. Then a lad at work said Asda was selling it for £32, so I went up there after work. They had it in but it was £37.71 (it was the PS3 version that was £32) so I decided to leave it. Went across to the Woolworths opposite but it was full price in there, so I tried Blockbusters on Chilly Road, they'd sold out but said they were getting some more in sometime later in the evening. I had to pop back up the road later anyway,so I called in and got my copy at about 7 last night.

I got FIFA on the 360 today. Great stuff.
  24. Wise has definitely had a big big hand in this one. BUT, lets not get too wound up about this. It's a short term appointment, and we needed to get someone in to steady the ship for a bit. OK Kinnear has been about hoofing the ball, but, again it's only short term, and if he can come in and boost morale a bit and get some results, then as it's only short term, I don't mind too much. What won't help is if people have a go at him right from the off, he doesn't need that (and tbh, fair play to him for accepting to come in to an awkward, difficult and uncertain situation), the team doesn't need it, the club doesn't need it, and we - the supporters - don't need it. What we need is to get behind him and the team, hopefully get some results so that we all start feeling a bit better.
