The wife's parents sometimes come round and I get the "don't talk to me about high interest rates, back in the 80s they were 15%!" etc. I just feel like screaming "YOU BOUGHT A HOUSE FOR EIGHT THOUSAND POUNDS! PROBABLY EVEN LESS! JUST FUCK OFF!"

Watching Sherwood at the minute. It's alright but unless something seriously significant happens in the last 3 episodes, I really don't understand all the hype about it. The Nottingham accent BTW. NAAAAAA instead of now. Every character shouting it in every other sentence. "Siddown! NAAAAAA!"

The fucking ludicrous suggestion that they've had to return to work to make ends meet. 60 BTL properties. FUCKING SIXTY. To "supplement" their pension. "Oh just a little extra to keep the wolves from the door. It means we can have our 3 bar fire on an extra half an hour when the nights are at their coldest." Jokers.

They've just played a clip at the end of the latest Quiet Riot podcast of Beth Rigby questioning Reeves. Really annoyed voice on her. "I spoke to Wes Streeting before the election and put it to him that the NHS would need additional funding, and his response was that more funding was not the answer to save the NHS. You've just announced £22.6bn of extra funding for day to day healthcare for the NHS. You just have not been straight with the British public." What do you even say to that? You're getting pulled up for trying to improve the NHS now. These journalists are fucking pathetic.

I thought she was George Osborne?

Pretty much this. Whatever you think about it, this is not an attempt at more managed decline. They're trying to do something. Don't know if it'll work, but they're giving it a go.

I'm barred from doing the time warp in every bar in Newcastle. Too dangerous.

We specifically are in this mess because of the enormous fucking hole that Brexit has kicked in our economy.

There's plenty businesses not even paying their employees a living wage, and now they're all moaning about the minimum wage and employer NI going up. And talking about how they'll have to freeze worker pay or fire people. There'll be honest, small business owners affected negatively by this, and that's genuinely a shame, but there'll also be plenty thriving businesses that can afford to make a bit less profit to pay the people that are making them a thriving business fairly. The money to sort the mess that the country has become has to come from somewhere. Of course if we could have an honest conversation about why we're in this fucking mess, that would also be nice, but of course we can't. Yet. Maybe ever.

I think the budget looks decent. We've been crying out for big tax increases, and we've now got them. Let's see what they can do with it.
