1. Yeah, it probably appeals to Johnny Come Lately's like yourself who don't fully appreciate the game. Being a purist, I prefer the beeb 18039 It's lunch. Shouldn't you be sat on the grass at the Civic penning a verse about the morning session's play? 18055 I think you're confusing me with Wacky Jnr. 18057 Easy done to be fair.

3. Gyppos. 17980 Loose change to the likes of you I s'pose! 18008 Aye, being a globe-trotting financial wizard has its benefits like.

5. It's directly linked to what's happening on the pitch. Simple as. 17865 NO IT ISN'T. You can tell that the players are too nervous to play. It's intimidating. It's like everyone's happier when we're doing shit 'cause then they can vent the anger built up in their miserable lives. GET BEHIND THE TEAM. It is a risk, because you invest YOUR goodwill before you get the payback, but it's the only way it will work. I PROMISE YOU I'M RIGHT. 17882 Mate, you are talking crap if you think the atmosphere in the stands has nothing to do with the uninspiring turd that is being served up on the pitch. The fans are guilty of impatience, but the players are equally guilty of incompetence that greatly exacerbates the impatience.
6. I'm not that bothered about Man United because I'd already written it off. It's the lesser teams I'm more concerned about.
7. Aye, it's a shame for them like after all the work they put into it. What I don't understand is why they put all that work in when they know the server is screwed - you would think that would be the priority, and then making it look nice and tarty should follow.
8. I had a senior manager that used to say that to me. Tit. 17804 That's what my manager says to me, albeit he's taking the piss when he does. He said it to me once and I answered 'resign.' 17815 Mine was serious.

10. Michael Owen is not a player in need of an ego boost, and if he is I hardly think a move to Newcastle United could be considered one.
11. And we will too. 17790 I don't think we'll be relegated. I think if we sign a striker and can put out a first(ish) choice 11 most of the season then we'll have too much to be relegated. I admit though that I'm shocked at just how bad things are looking so early on in the season, especially in front of goal. Shearer (and it pains me to say it) is completely, 100% finished. There'll be no Indian summer or runs of good games this season from him. It's over and I think he'll struggle for even the 6 goals that he needs for the record.
12. Getting relegated would set us back for a decade at least. And there's no guarantee it would make Shepherd leave. I would see it presenting a much bigger set of problems than those we currently have and it's certainly not a solution to the current problems.
13. I'm not sure he has a choice.... What would Real Madrid get out of a loan deal? I can't see that being attractive to them at all. 17780 Someone else paying the wages of a player that they don't want? 17784 And not getting £18m? 17786 Ok, if Liverpool do not come in for Owen, bearing in mind that Real cannot force Owen to sign a permanent deal with us, what's their next best option? It's the one that Souness is ruling out.

15. Best place to follow it if you're at work is the Guardian's OBO coverage IMO. Decent bit of craic and a lot less dry than the BBC.
16. Aye, I saw this earlier this morning and it is rank stupidity from Souness.
17. I forced myself to listen in the vain hope that something (anything) would happen. It did. They scored again and we got even worse.
18. I don't subscribe to the trouble with Newcastle being the fans. Having said that, the mental reactions on the other board today to what ultimately HAS to be good news for our season beggars belief. I just have no time for people hell-bent on negativity. That place was a fucking joke today and any outsider reading it would have thought that their reaction was a pisstake.
19. There isn't a sensible (non-Geordie) player in the world who, given the choice, wouldn't pick Liverpool ahead of us. Difference is Owen was honest enough to admit it instead of coming out with the usual "Newcastle are a huge club and obviously I'm flattered blah blah" shite. I respect his honesty and couldn't give a fuck that we're not first choice.
20. I think the server problem is down to so many people wanting to whinge about the potential signing of Owen 17224 They've closed the board down because someone mentioned Owen outside of the "Official" Owen thread. They're running searches for mentions of the word Owen in all other threads and will be re-opening the board when this problem has been eradicated.
21. From 1? That's a bit early for me like. 17147 One swift kick in the ankles coming your way on Sunday. Seriously though, does anyone really want to show their face in the Trent with Sammy?
