1. I find this from the Feyenoord Chairman interesting: "Many clubs have tried to contact Dirk over the recent period, but he's said no to clubs every time because they were not appealing enough despite there being many renowned clubs among them. That characterises Dirk's attitude: either Feyenoord or my dream club." Suggests to me that instead of just watching him play week after week we should have maybe talked to Feyenoord about talking to Kuyt. We may well have got the knockback a month ago, allowing us to focus on realistic targets instead of pissing away time pursuing someone we could never hope to sign.
2. I reckon you could have a class time in America by yourself if you just go over there, pick a starting point, decide on some places you want to visit, and just have a driving holiday from one to the other staying in seedy roadside motels along the way. Whereabouts were you planning on going?
3. I once witnessed a dance-off in an American bar. I thought I would die.
4. I'm gonna watch Napoleon Dynamite tonight. I gather it's good?
5. Why wasn't I informed?
6. This news had completely passed me by, but apparently Carr picked up a hamstring injury on Wednesday night, so it's looking like Ramage at the weekend. Which is fantastic news. Did anyone else know about this?
7. Isn't the Bundesliga a pretty physical league? Sounds like the last place that nancy boy should be going.
8. It's really embarrassing reading that article though. What an over-inflated view Alan Oliver has of Newcastle United. Of course it's in his best interests to talk us up, but we're not stupid. We know that we're a nothing team compared to Liverpool. We don't need the ugly tosser to talk shit to soften the blow.

Patrokles

Scottish Mag was blatantly gonna take the piss until Patrokles answered yes tbh.
10. Roeder said he was after a player who could play down both wings or off the striker. We probably would have taken SWP on loan if Duff hadn't happened. We've been in for at least 2/3 other strikers this summer and when Roeder says the quality ones are way over priced I believe him. If we pay 150% of actual value in 2 weeks time I would say that's about the same as we would have paid at the start of the summer for anyone other than Gudjohnsen and I'm very glad we haven't handed 12m to our Spurs for Defoe, not convinced by him and don't want to help their advancement. Anyone care to compare that fee to the Owen fee btw? Nothing's changed to the position of a couple of days ago, other than we lost out to Liverpool on Kuijt, and we will now move on to the next target. We were in for him, however people want to perceive the way the game was played, and we lost out, what would people have thought had we just not bothered? Would you say that because Kuijt was the most public interest that they haven't been working hard on other transfers? Wouldn't think so. Liverpool are now different league to us, we have to accept that, I think they'll run Chelsea very close next season with those strikers, in fact I reckon they could win it. 179786 Jesus, is this what I sounded like with Souness?
11. I forgot you had admitted to being a goth. The reason you can't come to the Trent on Saturday is because you're off to old Eldon Square to pull your jumper sleeves down over your hands and cock your head to one side and take on a look of adolescent pissed-offness.

Patrokles

Aha! You are blatantly a closet bummist.
13. Ted Maul - tomorrow's Alan Oliver.
14. I think the Duff=fluke thing is more a reference to the fact that if he hadn't become available we wouldn't have even signed a left winger. It was just a surprise that he became available and we did well to get him here - although to be fair it's not like there was a protracted struggle for his signature. Also, if he hadn't become available I reckon our "Players In" column on SSN would be empty. By the way, we're three or four players down on last season's squad which was already too thin. We haven't got a hope in hell now of having a decent squad going into this season. One or two injuries.................
15. Apology? You should have bent him over the bar and rammed his pint up his jacksy, you big soft knacker! 179758 He had a tatoo on his forehead man! 179763 I bet you nearly shat.
16. I bet you thought he was joking at first as well. Something along the lines of: .................... ..................................

18. A proper player? 179749 Pwecisely!
19. 17th today. Two weeks to go. Panicking is officially permitted now.
20. Yup. Liverpool could have conceivably told Feyenoord where to stick it if they'd tried to shaft them on the price. You allow yourself that luxury if you do things properly. I just can't understand what the thinking is behind us leaving not just the strikers, but pretty much everything until now. If Duff hadn't all of a sudden become available I wonder whether we'd even have signed anyone by now.
21. Aye I remember that. £2m iirc. I always used to sign him on Championship Manager. Reckon Keegan missed out there tbh.
22. Go aggressive and go early. Simple as that IMO. August is all about finishing touches if affordable players become available. It is not the month for conducting the majority of your business. The position we're in now any striker we turn to, the club KNOWS they can demand big money off us and that we haven't got the time to walk away from the deal. Earlier on in the window if they try and take the piss, we just walk away. We don't have that option anymore. We as a football club need to learn how to operate in a transfer window. Having a rest while the world cup was on is proving to be our undoing IMO. I appreciate that Roeder hadn't been in the job long, but I really don't think that excuses our current predicament.
23. Grandmothers'. 'Twas a general statement tbs tbs. You wouldn't want to be getting into a discussion about external stereotypes, would you boyo? 179679 You gonna call me a fat ginga like?
