  1. I'm not as sure about this. The intensity they train with these days, I reckon they get a lot more of their fitness from training than playing matches. Contrast with a Bruce where next to none of your fitness would come from training. We'll see though, he might be a mile off it.
  2. Palace have agreed a fee with Wolfsburg for Maxence Lacroix. The jigsaw pieces are falling into place.
  3. When clubs start listing players on ebay and Rightmove, I'm sure you and Gloomy will be the first people Eales calls.
  4. Absolutely scandalous to be bringing your house buying experiences into the thread. I wasted my time getting off twitter when you're coming with that drivel.
  5. By all accounts, we initially went in well short of what they wanted. That's what the first 2 or 3 bids were about - getting us remotely in range of what they wanted. As for comparing it to buying a house. Howay man.
  6. When the asking price exceeds our valuation of the player
  7. If we want the player and the price is still within valuation, don't walk away. People want us to hoy a blob strop and just fuck our number one target off cos Parrish is a bellend. Parrish has always been a bellend.
  8. The "we should have walked away by now" narrative is idiotic BTW. If we only sign players where the selling club bends over for us, we're gonna be buying an awful lot of shite. It started on twitter and it's found its way on here.
  9. Botman was protracted. The bloke where we signed Bruno from was an absolute bellend that strung us along for a bit. I don't think for a second this has been a masterplan. I think the window has been shite and we're once again constrained in what we can spend. But if we get our number one target signed, and if that's all we've got to spend, then that's a qualified success. Qualified because we've got other positions that need strengthening, but that will be one for a future window. We clearly have deprioritised a RW this window because we want Guehi and he's costing too much. If Guehi falls through and we don't have an alternative lined up we've had a straight up shocker. As of right now though, the jury is out. Eales and Mitchell will be fucking desperate for their first window to have a successful outcome. That's for certain.
  10. Aye loads of these lads just end up with the lass with the biggest tits in whatever town they were playing in when they first started making some coin. There'll be some fucking horrors.
  11. Mate, I watched the press conferences. He's talked about how difficult it was to sell Anderson and Minteh, and how Anderson was a player he liked and a great lad. That's the bit he focuses in on. You're wrong here, not me.
  12. Same with Dummett. He was like a sheet of A4 - disappeared when he turned sideways.
  13. Howe saying it was a difficult window was in reference to selling Minteh and Anderson for non-football reasons. He wasn't talking about Guehi going to the last few days.
  14. You can't state monetary values and not factor in the mental inflation that trfr fees have gone through. All players are getting more expensive every season. Does this look a bit out of place? Yes. But I don't care.
  15. Aye we've started the season with our first and third choice CBs playing. One got sent off and we literally have no natural CB cover. We're straight to full backs filling in.
  16. What's Isak? 22? His price tag didn't cause him any undue concern. Gordon, 20 when we signed him? Same. It's a mental argument to claim that you're worried about the welfare of the player being signed for that much. We're not signing him to score 30 a season, he just needs to not drop clangers.
  17. But what's the logical extension of that, never sign anyone for big money in case it has a psychological impact. Read my last post. I want us to get him because he's our number one target. I really don't give a fuck what the cost is cos that's not my job. People whose job it is think a) he's worth that, and b) it's workable within our PSR constraints. So let's get him.
  18. If he's still turning out for us when he's 32, then I'm fine with us paying £70m for him. And I'm sure that will be the thinking on which we're prepared to pay that amount for him. At the end of the day, I'm not an expert on player valuation, and it's not my money. And I don't care to try and do the sums on behalf of the club. I want us to sign the player the DoF and the manager want, or else what is the point of having that structure at the club? I will regard it as a real disappointment if we don't get this one sorted.
  19. I don't think we think it'll go down, I think we think we'll get something accepted closer to the end of the window. Possibly deadline day, but I hope not. I think Parrish is quite happy getting games out of the player while they're short handed, cos he thinks he can do that and still get the fee he wants before the window shuts.
  20. There will literally be a player valuation committee at the club. Do you really think you know better than them?
  21. It does look like that, but Mitchell will have to have come up with, and justified a valuation and had it approved by Eales and the Chairman. All three of them might be getting this wrong, but the appearance of being caught in a macho bidding war is almost certainly false. We've seen protracted transfers play out like this in the past, and generally if the signing player gets their man, I see it as a success for them rather than them having had their pants down.
  22. You were talking about pointing the £70m at fucking Mbeumo man. Brentford bought him for £6m. Re Guehi, it's not just about what you pay for him today, it's about his useful life to the club. As I've said over and fucking over. These transfer windows are boring. We were meant to be the fucking cash splashers and instead we've been fucked by the PL rule changes and PSR. To the extent that the fans have been turned into penny pinchers who know better than the DoF and manager. It's boring. Sorry if you don't agree.
