I don't think it's unsustainable, but you have to be able to control the possession better. That's why teams like Man City can do it (that and a huge squad filled with insane quality). It doesn't really work when you split possession 50/50 - or you have less than half of the ball - you're just getting players to burn themselves out. You need to be consistently dominant on the ball and we just aren't. I also don't think it helps when you have one player that you could rely on to chase everything a year ago no longer willing or able to do it. That could be rubbing off on the others. "Well if he's not going to do it, why should I?" Etc. Footballers are petulant man children for the most part, let's be honest.
