I mean, any club can activate a release clause when the window is closed tbf - it happens all the time. We could agree the fee and terms well in advance so them being able to have them on the books sooner wouldn't make much difference other than they have an unfair amount of time to integrate. I see no upside to this for Man City and Chelsea other than that though because they will have to pay way inflated fees players who might be fucking shit in their set ups (or get injured with the extra games).

To be fair to Pope though, he was class first half against Nottingham Forest, and even his distribution was great - two of our goals came from long throws by Pope if memory serves.
