Newcastle Sign Fabricio Coloccini: Deportive Website States
Kitman replied to Ketsbaia's topic in Newcastle Forum
I disagree to a certain extent - if he's fit, he's a canny player. I remember seeing him one year against us at Craven Cottage before he went to Man Utd and he dominated us, he was tremendous. However I take your point about Fergie not letting top players go - that's why his fitness must be a real concern. Probably a gamble by the mackems, but if Saha can keep fit it might work out well. -

Great signing for them if he stays fit. Trouble is, his fitness record was pretty poor at Man Utd -
Keegan and Ashley row over Everton move for Smith
Kitman replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think he had a reputation as being reclusive from Sports Direct. He built the company up from 'flying under the radar' and keeping a low profile. He may have bought the toon to have a bit of fun and get out more. That's my theory anyway. There's no doubt in my mind there were some PR stunts (and no more than Quinn did with the mackems by the way), but from what I've read he was genuinely low profile before he came to us. -

What more can the club say about transfer activity, other than what they are saying? They can hardly give us a daily bulletin of who they are in negotiations with, how much they've offered and what the response is. Nobody else does that either. Under the previous regime we were fed a constant stream of lies and half truths via Alan Oliver and his cronies but we were no better informed as to what was really going on, we were just subjected to more propaganda from the club and disaffected elements within it. As an exile, I've noticed the difference in press coverage. Before the national press used to rip off whatever the Chron was peddling....now they just make it up. I don't feel any less or more informed than before, there's just as many stories but it's apparent the club isn't stirring the pot anymore. I suppose if anything disappoints me regarding the media, it's that the club doesn't feel any need to manage its press relations actively, but I guess that Ashley see it as a waste of money. Having said all that, I'm not happy with the transfer window so far and I doubt anyone is. I'm reserving judgement until it shuts, although it's disappointing that the season's nearly upon us, we've only made 3 average-ish signings so far and a lot of the first team squad have had no pre-season whatsoever. However I reckon if Keegan was truly unhappy with the set-up, he would have been off by now. -
The press are determined to push this 'club in crisis' by-line. Yet none of these articles are ever accompanied with a single quote from an accredited source, as far as I can see. It's more sloppy journalism. I think the more interesting question is whether Smith would rather be at Everton. Does he really see a future in the first team with us? Certainly most toon fans seem to want him to be there too, notwithstanding Keegan thinks he's a 'very popular' lad.

Thanks for that cheery news

Someone challenges another of those NUFC myths and back come TTs sensitive types. "Please admin, ban this WUM....Peeeerrrrrrwwwweeeaaasssseee" As ever, you miss the point. This is how it starts though Alex: I post a stat in response to a stat posted by Stevie You think "wait a minute, this isnt looking good for us" and post, "This is boring" Then one of your mates then chips in "what has this got to do with NUFC (even though, that is what were discussing)" Then another one pipes up "why are you even here" Then "Admin ban this WUM" I just feel you all might be a little over sensitive. Is this what passes for light hearted ribbing down your way? You need to use more emoticons

No I am able to take a little light hearted ribbing about my club and its fans, unlike some on here who go crying foul every time I post something that is not 100% pro NUFC. I think you're being a little paranoid tbh

He is never in the position to be. Well he is, actually. Never mind. Just because you have picked a team at random because you think some of that teams glory may rub off on you puts you in no real position to be patronising about anything imo. You only have to think you're superior to be patronsising. As you also demonstrate. I am superior to him but then you will be hard pressed to find someone who isn't. Are you deliberately missing my point each time now? Obviously I am, why don't you spell it out for me Alex. -

Presumably he's worried about an Indian takeaway He's either getting into a pickle or this story has been roganjoshing all along. Is he sick of the press having a poppadim? Not being one to curry favour -
They've improved their squad a lot imo

Do you mean "sell before you buy"? Aye. That's what I meant.

Don't disagree with any of your post. What also struck me is how the bits quoted above equally apply to Ameobi. On balance I'd prefer to see Ameobi gone cos I've been waiting for too long for him to get hoyed out. Fuck me but he must be good in training to survive all these years. Either that or he sucks a mean cock

Be surprised if we let Shaymus go

Of course he would. The psychology of the Indian businessman is also very very long term. Agreed. But I think he'd want a big score not a few mill. And even if we allow ourselves to dream of another Abramovich, there wouldn't be enough time to go on a Chelsea style spending spree before the season kicks off imo -

Hooking up with an Indian billionaire with the same kind of money as Roman would be a good thing for us. Think of the shirt sales on the sub-continent!!!!! "Howay man" routinely heard in the big Indian cities? They love it innit!! I for one hope it's true, the timing would be excellent and this geezer has serious money not pennies like Ashley. Will they think Mark Viduka is phat? -

He'll have his price. Not sure why an Indian billionaire would be interested in "investing" his money in us though.......
