I think there’s undoubtedly a large slice of geordie bashing about the media’s response to this takeover. Might be something to do with being good click bait as well but I doubt there would be the same opprobrium heaped on Palace or Villa. I think anybody who pays any attention to media critics is mental. The pundits love to slag off NUFC, trolling out the same old lazy cliches about unrealistic expectations and what a great owner Mike is etc etc. It’s nailed on they’ll bang on about the negatives because they feel the need to put us in our place, and even more than that, they love to see our fans being downtrodden and downcast. I think its something that dates back to the Keegan days and having ‘ideas above our station’. Well fuck them, I hope this happens and they choke on the tidal wave of Saudi money. I think at this point in time we can only dream of mediocrity. Its panning out pretty much as people predicted: a season of struggle with shit football and relegation looking likely at some point. We’d be favourites to go down if it weren’t for some jammy results. I guess its better to be lucky than good, which is just as well in Brewceys case.

I don’t think ashley needs the fans to stay in the PL but he does need them as wallpaper for TV. We won’t be offered the same number of TV matches nor get the same exposure for his shitty company without the ground being packed out. Also the general public realise is something is very wrong when the fans stay away, and pundits cant get away with trotting out the same old shit about how much ashley has done for the club and the usual cliches. He’s proved that by offering free tickets/cheap deals to get people in. Large swathes of empty seats on TV are pretty much the only thing that hurts him and his shitty brand.
