  1. Surely he wouldn't have had time to board another flight after he flew the first plane into tower 1? Something doesn't add up. Unless the second plane was remote control I think you're onto something here
  2. If he's convicted of GBH and DUI then he's headed for prison fo' sho'. Instead of gettin' down with his homies, he'll be gettin' down with the homos.....
  3. The decision to jettison Barton seems capricious at best. He offered leadership and drive, is at the peak of his powers imo and knows what's required in the PL. I realise that he was probably angling for a move but I wonder what the incremental cost of keeping him would have been, given that we got fuck all for selling him. All academic as he's gone but we have lacked cohesion in all 4 games so far. Not surprising given the number of new players perhaps but not something QPR seemed to suffer from, much to my surprise.
  4. Some quality posting from Saltwater there. Looking at their transfers, if you take Bent and Henderson out of the equation that's an awful lot of money spent for some average players with a limited shelf life. Not that we have bragging rights, because we're not interested in coming to the party in the first place. In bygone days we've wasted mountains of cash on players like Owen, Maric and Emre who've turned out to be injury ridden flops. We've also signed some tremendous players. Now we generally buy young and cheap, who the fuck knows if they're any good or not (with the exception of James Perch) and it requires patience. As it is I like the fact we're scouting hard and having a go at developing and sourcing young talent. It's definitely the way to go imo and you only have to look at our injury list these days to see the wisdom of not signing older and/or knackered players with big reputations. At the same time it's a results business and you need to compete for key talent and you need a wise head or two on the pitch to hold it together. I wish there was a happy medium between development and buying wisely at the right time but that requires ambition.
  5. That's the thing that struck me, some of the spending seemed very short term to me. I think Bruce was thinking he needed instant results as he may not get much time otherwise. But it means they'll need replacing in a couple of years or so, obviously out of fresh money
  6. I think we've often been in the same position tbh. Part of the reason our wage bill has been so high imo, in the days when we went for established players. I think if you're outside London and not one of the top teams (ie in the CL or thereabouts) then you have to pay over the odds.
  7. By the way, I don't see Sunderland play except for brief highlights (which lately mainly consist of them being pummelled). Even so I'd suggest their full backs must be better than ours.
  8. Short answer is probably yes, Bruce has pissed away a lot of money on average players. It's hard to telll whilst he's doing such an inept job though. Is it 72 mill net spend (fees out less fees in) or is that the gross spend? If it's 72 mill net spend he must be a candidate for the sack soon.
  9. I'm guessing you don't quite believe his army stories?
  10. His mate that drove off was charged with driving without intelligence. FYP
  11. Good job there's zero chance of it then.....
  12. He's one of our better players atm. Which isn't saying much after the QPR match.
  13. After criticising the owner he's probably been given 3 games to turn around our disastrous start.....
  14. Pardew's had Ben arfa earmarked to play in the hole but hasn't had him available obviously. I'm baffled why he persisted with the formation against qpr when it so obviously wasn't working. Especially when one of the two strikers offered no more than a lump of wood. Edit in fact a lump of wood has more use and doesnt give away pointless free kicks and offsides
  15. Stevie is the Witchfinder General. If SW's a wrong 'un there'll be nowhere to hide......
  16. Which part of Norway are you from? Bærum Sounds like Bare 'em.
  17. Depends if the salad's inserted into a burger or not
  18. On the hoy Friday and Saturday night, 2 quarter pounders, a McChicken Sandwich and a Zinger Tower. Like a rake. Bastard. I'll console myself with the fact you're doing yourself no good. J69 style. He'll have the guts of a seventy year old with that lot rotting in there 2 nights of Guinness too. It's like shitting the corpse of a rat that's been in the sun for a month. Ripe!
  19. Career heading for the shitter by the looks of it
  20. After today's showing I can't see anything other than a Villa win
  21. He's a class A cunterhead. Anybody who saw him as a pundit wanking off over Man Utd would despise him unless they were into the Salford Reds. He's hideously ugly to boot, with irritating patter, a voice like a whiny 11 year old and hair like your Nana. Add to that he looks like a pudding faced alcoholic and probably regularly pisses down his trousers, then no, he's not a "good lad". The only thing he's got going in his favour is the great job he's doing of managing Sunderland.
  22. I was going to say Squidward seemed a bit headless to me but that's not appropriate in the circumstances. Worryingly he seems to me slower and more ineffective the more games he plays. Hopefully he will come good but like Parky I'm beginning to doubt it. Could be that the curse of Alec Ferguson strikes again.
  23. We were seriously bad and what's worrying is the trend. We were lucky to have Jay Bothroyd playing in our defence today. Pardew has some serious sorting out to do. Raylor and Ameobi must be dropped. Then he has to figure out how to get the midfield and attack working together. When Barfa comes back maybe we should go with something like 4-5-1 as we don't have 2 decent forwards. As things stand we're in a totally false position, that was a performance worthy of a side in the lower reaches of the league. Any hopes of success this season hinges on key players like Colo, Saylor, Tiote, Barfa staying fit, because the back up players are gash.
  24. Warnock's lost a bit of weight I see. Does he remind anyone else of Blakey from On the Buses?
