They've sacked King Kenny quickly so they've got plenty of time to think about it. I doubt they'll make another appointment to curry favour with the fans. I hope Pardew isn't on the list, I don't share the opinion that he couldn't be tempted to jump ship. He would tick a lot of boxes - including league success on a shoestring - with the added bonus of fettling a rival. Hopefully Pardew will want to finish what he's started but you can't expect any loyalty in football.

As it happens I think we have been lucky with transfers, in the sense that no matter how good your network, you're always going to get a few duffers a la Obertan. As it happens we've had hardly any, and some have worked out better and more quickly than perhaps we had a right to expect. Which is brilliant.

And when did they do that?

The fact they're all good lads isn't by accident. I'm sure I read that the club scouts players over the long term and part of the process is checking out their character, work ethic and team fit. In other words we're signing players looking at the whole package, not just their playing ability. Makes perfect sense therefore that we haven't got a load of prima donna arseholes. Add to that they're mostly young, hungry for success and ambitious, and it explains why we got talented grafters who play for the shirt rather than work shy mercenaries who spend most of their time on the treatment table.

I presume he's referring to the fact that Lineker is a serial shagger, which has been common knowledge for years. Erm, allegedly.

I'm not predicting points/places as I'm totally shit at it. I hope we can stay in the top 6 but it'll be a tough ask imo. A lot will ride on the close season ins & outs, whether our fringe players can step up more and good old fashioned luck. We were unlucky with Taylor's injury but otherwise I think we generally did pretty well on the injury/suspension front. Not sure we can expect the same again.
