  1. TV on the Radio have reached the tipping point? God Damnit! I don't understand the kids these days. It used to be cool to fawn over whatever Pitchfork was rating highly but now that's apparently uncool and you can only be cool if you listen to really obscure experimental folk from some forgotten realm. Honestly, I don't know how they can listen to music with their head so far up their own arse.
  2. Amazed me to see the new album near the top of a lot of Best of lists this year like. Thought the lead single was canny enough but the rest was the same old boring rubbish.
  3. www.rateyourmusic.com is a pretty good site if you can find someone with similar tastes to you. Most people are just so desparate to show off their indie eliteness and give 5 stars to some boring drone from Ecuador and one star to TV on The Radio because they'll look cool because of it.
  4. Forgot about most of them as well even if not all of them are my favourites. People still need to check what they haven't heard. I'm really listening to too much music at the minute. Going to have to make an ongoing list next year so I can actually recommend things to people. Just remembered The Mars Volta and Elle Milano as well. Quite like McCartney's little effort with The Firemen too. And Ray LaMontagne. British Sea Power too. Blitzen Trapper are great too. Long story short, I could probably do a Top 100 if I could be arsed. Good year all in all. Alejandro Escovado and Beach House too. Tallest Man on Earth if you fancy some Dylan-esque folk.
  5. Who would we have to sell to incite some full-blown revolts though? I think the vast majority of people have resigned to Owen and N'Zogbia leaving. I can imagine a large section of the fanbase getting angry if Taylor goes, despite his flaws, most people seem to love him that I've talked to. Maybe the sale of Given and Martins would incite some real venom as well. Unless you mean Ashley going back into the stadium?
  6. Expected this to be a "You're a cunt" thread like.
  7. Those Smokey amps are amazing. I'm getting me one of those. Cheers for the link
  8. I hope if they do go through, they draw one of the weaker sides as well. It'd be amazing to see them in the Quarters.
  9. Bon Iver was 2007, wasn't it? If not, it's on mine then. Along with Grouper who has a similar vibe going for it.

  11. Resident Evil 4 is well worth a go as well. The Wiimote goes perfectly with the shooting mechanic. Should be extra fun right around midnight as well.
  12. About 15 or so over last weekend but tbf, it was a fairly quiet one. The calories mixed with the pizza I had can't be good though.
  13. Hopefully he learns to keep his mouth shut from now on. Part of me likes when someone calls out the refs for being the arrogant wankers they are but it could easily lead to another touchline ban.

  15. Some might go OTT but on the other hand you have some over on N-O saying that Jonas is nothing but an average player who is useless and ineffective... He's a canny player like. He's a good, hard-working winger and he has a bit of pace and strength about him. Comfortable down both flanks too. He's nowt special mind imo. Probably be a lot better and productive with some better players, playing with confidence around him. Absolutely. It was just to slightly counter the view that Wise and co have done pretty well with their signings / scouting. I think they've still done alright in regards to Jonas tbh. The only outstanding issue is the whole faff-on with the compensation which is bound to bite us in the arse someway, especially if we've got to fork up some more money. But, he was a certain improvement over what we had (and still have). Bassong looks like a bit of a steal though for £2.5 million and should grow into a good little player in time. There's probably better than Coloccini out there for £10 million but that seems to be the going rate for internationals these days. Really, my only hate over the scouting team is over the whole deadline day debacle.
  16. Agreed with the above like. If Jonas was in a team that had any sort of movement up front, he'd be very dangerous. Just have to look at his pass for Owen against Stoke and a few other occasions where he's picked players out easily if they've made the right runs. He won't get that with Martins, sadly. Still think he's good like and a real improvement over Milner in the sense that he works just as hard and is obviously a stronger player.
  17. And West Ham's savior was already there to begin with in Tevez. They signed the likes of Boa Morte who didn't contribute much at all.
  18. It's depressing enough without taking possible injuries into the equation. If we get a couple of key player knackered for a couple of month as well as some leaving, we'll be seriously fucked.
  19. A blessing that leaves us with one less central midfielder and Ameobi as the only remaining striking option of the team if Owen/Martins leave.
  20. All of this falls down when you realise that Kinnear is in no way influencing transfers. It amazes me how stupid they think we are; if they actually want us to believe that they wouldn't back Keegan but are backing Joe Kinnear, then, it's amazing.
  21. God, I've missed these sorts of stories. Hard to tell which is more of a pressing issue tbh; the ownership or the performances. The whole thing adds up into one big downward spiral.
  22. Very surprised he didn't at least put some youth on there. Isn't that Zamblera a midfielder? Not saying he'd come straight in and be like Gazza but it's better than having no midfield option at all.
  23. I remember someone saying on here a while back that Martins is an instinctive finisher (I think that was the phrase used) and he's better when he has no time to think and just wallops it goalwards like the Spurs goal from two seasons ago and the Bolton overhead kick last year. You just have to look at his one-on-ones to see that it's pretty much true. I don't know if his bottle goes or what but give him time to finish and he'll squander it. His pace alone means he'd be a canny impact sub in time to come but I'd be looking elsewhere or playing Viduka and Owen when Viduka is fit instead.
