On the subject of strikers, I assume that this will be the season where Carroll is forced to rise up when needed. With Smith leaving (hopefully), that would leave Carroll to fill his place. You never know what a bit of youthful drive might bring. Saying that, I hope it's more than what Taylor's youthful drive brings.

Milner's future doesn't lie on the wing IMO so maybe this is to see if he can hack playing up front. I think he'll be featured in the middle of midfield at some point in the future and this might be an extension of that.
