  1. Attain's post about crying in his room when he thought about Mike Ashley's ownership was amazing but he's deleted it.
  2. That thread where we captioned Kim Jong-Il had some good ones. Stevie telling a gay bloke to "hew yee just howld on a minute" was a good one. Was Wacky calling Fish a "Pimms Drinking Shithouse" this year?
  3. How many times has someone jumped on stage to punch him?
  4. But which Fleetwood Mac line up was the best?
  5. Love Parky's conspiracies, man. Top posts. Best band of the 60s was clearly Edison Lighthouse. They were so good they didn't start until 1971. Velvet Underground is total pish
  6. I'm all for Stevie not liking The Beatles, so fuck, not my place to try and change his taste but I actually think their standing has gotten to the point where people don't realise how good those four were at what they did outside of catchy melodies that they may not like. They have their place in the musical canon for a good reason.
  7. The Beatles are comfortably the most overrated band in human history. Funny enough I had that debate 2 weeks ago in town and everyone agreed. There were bands in the 60's who weren't 1/100th as famous as the beatles in the sixties who were better than them. However, that's my taste plenty people agree with me, the same as plenty people massively respect the beatles for no other reason than it's popular to do so. They might be overrated (I don't think they are like considering their sheer importance on popular music in so many different ways) but they're still mint. Even if you compare them down to a musician level, each member was better than The Animals and a large majority of 60s bands. As someone that actually listens to obscure 60s garage rock and pop music, there's not one of them better than The Beatles. Paul was a better singer than 90% of his contemporaries, Ringo a better drummer (yes, he was), George a better lead guitarist etc. House of The Rising Sun was a good arrangement aye but do you honestly think it's better than something like A Day in The Life? If you prefer The Animals then fair enough, opinions and different tastes and all that but they were never objectively better, man. I think every musician that potters into this thread will tell you they respect The Beatles because they were massively talented songwriters and players, not just because it's cool to do so.
  8. Pulled some CDs off the shelf at random to give a listen. The Stands: Horse Fabulous - Think I've mentioned them before but Liverpool band from the mid-2000s who were severely underrated. Great hooks, good playing, lots of variety all through the album. Didn't get popular in 2005 because it brought up memories of 60s pop rather than Gang of Four. Well recommended if you like The Kinks, Paul Simon, Beatles and anything from that era really. The Clash - Sandinista - I forgot that this is a bit of a slog. Reckon I'll get 20 tracks in like usual and never bother with the rest. Clash had an immense rhythm section.
  9. I think my favourite Beatles album would have to be...The Best of The Beatles
  10. Doesn't Stevie think The Animals are better than The Beatles though?
  11. They're nee Suede, the pair of them. Well, Suede up until Butler left.
  12. Think Oasis are canny average looking back. Couple of the early tracks are good but for the most part, the hooks that everyone loves are poor knock-offs of better bands. Don't Look Back in Anger is a well put together song though and I like the guitar sound Noel gets on the second track on The Masterplan. A lot of those early albums are a load of overblown rubbish with half-decent choruses and samey guitar solos and they didn't get any good until the drugs wore off and they had a couple of Kinks rip offs as singles in the 2000s like Importance of Being Idle. The less said about Beady Eye and Noel's new project, the better. Dull as dishwater.
  13. Blur were better. Though personnel wise, they're both a right set of knobheads
  14. I thought it was mint but thought the exact same as you
  15. Have a good one, mate. I know that the single housewives were truly disappointed with your marriage but hope it's treating you well.
  16. He's a bit of a fanny but put anyone next to Coloccini, they'll probably be alright.
  17. That first Weeknd mixtape. Man, I think this might be the best release of 2011, it's my favourite, I think. Ridiculously well put together RNB, great production, great hooks, nice drum machines, enough colourful instrumentation when needed. The second one really peaks with The Birds but the first one just goes from strength to strength. I've been coming back to this for a couple of months now. PJ Harvey singing about the atrocities of war with an auto harp may be enjoyable but there's something about this kid talking about wet fannies and shagging that works ridiculously well with his tunes. Gotye's tune is the best track of the year though, hands down. There's no way that lot can top that single because the album's not much cop and there's no precedent for them writing a song that good. Every crap poet has one good poem though, I suppose.
  18. HERE MAN! Kadars the bestest CB we've got even though I've only seen him twice. PARDEW OUT! hew if you think he's good, wait til you cop a load of Stephen Folan up front.
  19. I kna Name them now, Aeris. Though your definition of top class youth is a kid that couldn't get a game for Gateshead Liverpool's squad depth SHOULD be better than ours since they're throwing money about. Even then, Jamie Carragher still gets a game for them.
  20. You go with the player that has had the most experience at the level you're at unless they're a youngster you have a lot of faith in ala Sammy (and to an extent, Ferguson). In cases like this, when have we been calling for a player to play that hasn't done, that has proceeded to leave and be amazing elsewhere? Majority of clubs wouldn't have played untested youth against Chelsea unless forced or they were something special.
  21. Youngsters are sometimes shit and don't grow into the players the scouts may have originally thought. I bet we're signing younguns all the time. I literally can't believe this has to be explained to this kid.
  22. Troo dat. Can see him ending up at QPR
