Ah fuck. Well there goes my long game sales pitch. Well if both of those happen to fail and you cant get a reasonably priced replacement you know where to find me. In all seriousness though, I know bugger all about them but they've earned my trust after reading that link. Either they're incredibly honest and really good at what they do or they're just wary (weary?) of miserable cunts like me calling them out.
-
Krafth strikes me as one of those players who doesn't have much going for him technically or even a great football brain but got where he was through his work rate and his ability to follow instructions. Cunts got no chance playing for a manager who can't motivate players or offer anything in the way of tactical instructions.

Actually, huge respect to this builder/company. Radically Transparent Marketing. Names and describes the Blue Box mods and tells folk upfront to expect "glitchy Octave tracking and poor gating". I'm down with that.
-
@sammynb actually after a quick glance over the link I like this guy. Its a lot of words for "I put a blue box and a dist+ in the same pedal" but at least he's telling it like is, rather than the usual "let's imply stuff without actually saying it" nonsense from the EQD link.

I'm not having that "typical Jock" comment I noticed somewhere earlier in this thread. He's a tory cunt and a total embarrassment to Scotland since he stopped playing and started talking. If he wasn't such a colossal bellend I'd at least give him credit for signing Mo Johnston at Rangers but its clear now it was never about breaking down barriers or bridging divides and all about his ego. Just a flaccid cock trying too hard to prove it still has some balls.

I love some of that uncontrollable glitchy stuff. Imagine themadness you could conjure up with just a blue box and a Clari(not). Ive used the data corrupter but their disaster transport is a pretty cool delay and not all that hard to tame despite its name.
-
I totally agree, a lot of their stuff is great. This is actually a good fuzz too which is why this one pissed me off so much. It's a Mk2 Tonebender with a low pass filter tacked on. And as if that isn't bad enough, notice how they don't mention if it's Silicon or Germanium. See if you can guess!

Here's one I was just asked about (let me know if I'm boring you all btw). It's got it all! Misleading marketing wank, false scarcity and borrowed a classic fuzz circuit and put their name on it. Originals go for silly money. https://www.earthquakerdevices.com/black-ash "Limited to 1500 units worldwide, Black Ash is a fuzz/overdrive that takes some cues from the vintage “three-knob Bender.” It uses a highly curated cache of rare and irreplaceable components including paper-in-oil capacitors and NOS half-watt carbon composition resistors from EQD President Jamie Stillman’s personal stash to light a fire under this classic fuzz/drive with an explosive-yet-detailed treble response, a sturdy midrange, and subterranean bass extension."

Looked up the CKK Royal fuzz since I hadn't heard of it and was curious. Didn't find much on the diy scene but in a game of Russian Roulette I'd be all its based on the Big Muff circuit. That's not even a criticism though, especially the price they sell it going for. Actually a breath of fresh air. Those additional switches are common Big Muff mods, the tone control responds the same from the videos I checked out and it just sounds like and old school Big Muff.

Haha. You're all good man, caught me at a good time. I had new neighbours move in Friday so all my negative energy for the weekend is spent. Actually looks like a nice setup though. Decent way to spend a Sunday. 👍

It's like the grown-up equivalent to my four year old finding that one bit of wallpaper seem he can get a grip of and fucking up all those hours of labour, just because he can. You're not kidding about Tomo Fujita though, I just checked him out. He's great! So much laid back (non-patronising) wisdom, and fuck me he can play. That rake!
-
Thats a spectacular self-own. Even at the time and without the benefit of hindsight it's either an admission that he has no authority or just further proof that he's a complete shit-merchant. Still mind-blowing how he can get work at this level. Wonder how the interview went? "So Steve, I see you've managed a few other clubs in the Premier League over your managerial career already. Tell us about your achievements there and why you're the right man for this job." "Well, I didn't get Wigan relegated and they went on to achieve great things after they replaced me with Spanish fella."

17 year old nitro finish with barely a mark on it? If it wasn't for knowing my brother in law (who probably looks after his guitars better than his children) I'd have a hard time believing that. Im not all that fussed about aesthetics as long as they play well and feel right (but aye, ok, I've got a firebird that I bought purely on looks and I'd probably draw the line at a neon finish superstrat with that Steve vai Handle).
-
Similar story with reliced guitars, really. And worn-look ripped jeans. Each to their own, I suppose. Whatever floats yer boat and all that. I don't mind beat up guitars as long they play. Sure as fuck wouldn't actively seek one out or pay a premium though.

Chrome is practically a trigger word for me. It's not what you think though, I don't have a problem with chrome at all I just can't hear or read that word without it starting Zappa's "who are the brain police?" on an endless loop in my head.

Bit far removed from the Sopranos and The Wire but the first few seasons of Northern Exposure are worth a watch if anyone needs some really chilled (borderline depressive) stuff to watch. Thats if you can find it. Apparently its never made amazon prime or Netflix on account of the soundtrack being too good, potential royalty fees making it unfeesible.

I'll need to look that up! That video is the Keeley Magnetic Echo with delay time on the wah, spent that whole day trying out all the different options trying to throw halfarsed demos together for the guy. Thought we'd settled on feedback/repeats but I realised on Friday you can can get a psuedo whammy effect if its set up like in that video and turn the delay mix up and the the feedback/repeats control down. You can hear the pitch shift going on a little in that video, wish I'd explored it more. Too many possibilities.

Those behringer Wah's actually look great man. I just can't multitask. Wah's fuck me up, probably because i use them on my left foot and end up getting tangled in guitar leads. As an aside I'm currently fighting with a ridiculous project I took on against all better judgement. Local fella wanted a delay in a wah shell and I stupidly said "aye, suppose its doable, I'll need a wah shell though" and forgot about it until some Hermes delivery guy appeared at the door with a broken crybaby:
-
I'm veering off topic but I remember hearing somewhere that dominant hand is only really an issue if your dominant eye doesn't match up. As in right handed folk with a dominant left eye and vice-versa tend to be clumsy and uncoordinated as fuck. Dunno if there's any truth to it but I'll take any excuses I can get.
-
I'm in a similar boat to be honest @Andrew I've got shelves and drawers full of pedals but my home pedal board is usually only about 8 and anytime I've been involved with bands it gets cut back to about 4 or 5. Two drives, one usually set as a boost, a delay and a tuner. Space for whatever vibe or phaser is flavour of the month. The whole left hand right hand thing (going off a tangent here), it's probably fair to say I just never knew left handed guitars existed until it was too late. I'd actually go as far as saying it made things easier when I first picked it up, stronger fretting hand, piss-weak picking hand. I used to wonder if the "conventional" way is just a holdover from classical styles, where the picking hand would be doing all the work, but aye like @Gemmill that didn't last long.
-
Can you work a wah properly or sweep pick? I can't.
-
Will there be a tremolo on there @Andrew? @Tom I know what you mean, I think the main reason I couldn't be arsed with them for so long was through associating volume modulation with that crap extreme stutter effect on those cheap amps with built in multi effects. Took a fella I know who really likes his psychedelics telling me to "have a fucking word with myself" for me to explore them properly and admit I was wrong. As for Wah, I love a good wah but I'm just not coordinated enough to work them properly. I blame it on being a lefty that plays as a righty, but probably just don't practice enough.
-
Hope I didn't kill this thread by acting like a bellend and slagging off every bit of gear mentioned. Any tremolo fans? I had no time for it until about a year ago. Finally saw the light and have been a bit obsessed since. Jam one between a phaser and a delay, brilliant fun.

Derailing this a bit but I'm surprised none of youse have covered this classic in tribute to Bruce, Weird-Al Style. "If you miss seventeenth place and think you're not a disgrace....... You're a cabbage. If no-one let's you employ your son and you weigh a metric ton..... You're a cabbage. If you're round, green and can't organise a team....You're a cabbage.
