  1. Aye. I've got a makeshift workbench just off the kitchen that would've been the old pantry when our house was built in the 50's. Thermometer on my bench has been pushing 30C at points these last few weeks, in a part of the house that was supposedly designed to store food. Swear in these last few years I've gradually flipped from "why the fuck would we need air-con in Scotland?" to "Jesus fuck this is torture".
  2. If it's voluntary, fair enough. People being allowed to tell you up front whether they want to be referred to as male, female or straight up say "please don't use gendered pronouns when you refer to me" seems fair enough to me if that's what they want to do. I don't understand the hysteria around all this. If I was to guess most of it seems to stem from folk that don't realise we've all used pronouns for all our lives without issue and are just shit scared of being called out in public for not understanding what a pronoun is.
  3. @Tom Looks a keeper. Trading up like that is pretty impressive. My main these days is an Epi SG that looks identical to the one fist jnr got off Gemmill. That was a Gumtree impulse buy too, but over the years just became the guitar I tended to always reach for first.
  4. Didn't Drummond grow up in Dumfries? Burning stuff is just the done thing down there. Nice part of the country like, gulf stream n'all that but fuck me do they have a thing with setting thing on fire for fun.
  5. Aye that's an absolute steal. I still try not to look at Gumtree for fear of coming home with another 4x12 that was "only £50!".
  6. Marty Mcfly eat your heart out. Can almost smell the nitrocellulose. Love an SG, I was a late convert but the smallest hill I'm still willing to die on is maintaing Les Paul made a huge mistake not wanting his name on these.
  7. Fucking Hell. Was that just a flat rate for a basic setup? I could maybe understand that if a guitar was in terrible nick and needed a few hours work and some new parts, but even if they threw in a new set of strings that's an absolute con for just a basic setup.
  8. I'll back Gemmill up on that being a really fair price, there's folk that will charge close to £50 for just a setup. Get Fist jnr onto YouTube videos like Canadian Dave's and he'll be setting up his own guitars in no time.
  9. Dunno what you lot are doing with your phone's, last 6 months I've been using a £100 Motorola (g8 I think) and it's absolutely been fine. Had less headaches with it than some "flagships" I've bought on contract in the past.
  10. I'm pretty much like this, like to be kept busy and be useful. I hate having to go to work as much as anyone but once I'm there it's a case of "fuck it I'm here now, what needs done?". Tbh though that might largely down to never really having been in a position where I've felt trapped in a job I hate. Anytime I've felt jaded with work I'm far more likely to just quit and look for something else than turn up and just fuck about. If ever felt trapped in a job I hated and saw no way out Im pretty sure I'd end up finding ways to do as little as possible.
  11. I don't get the Renton reference and thought the Star was no more but that front page is an absolute work of art. Sunday Sport eat your heart out.
  12. Aye, cup aside (as amusingly accurate as it is) it honestly made my day to see that here of all place. Wylie's pedals are fascinating but rare as fuck and as far I'm aware most of the schematics and designs all died with him. I think a majority of his work is still a total mystery. I know a few guys from a pedal forum that eventually got there hands on a Moonrock and collectively recreated it, then spent a fuck ton of time essentially just trying to guess what improvements Wylie made with the even rarer New Moon. They eventually ended up with a much more versatile version of the Moonrock but nobody really knows how close to the New Moon it really is.
  13. @Tom Haha. I'm actually glad you posted the wrong one first, that's a fucking Glenn Wylie Moonrock in the background. Not something you'll see in the wild very often.
  14. Looks a beaut. I've huge soft spot for these and the Gretsch semi-hollows, really love the sound and feel of them but they're a bit of a headache to work on at the best of times and a lovecraftian nightmare to fix if someone else has already been in there and fucked about with the wiring. P90's should still be viable for high gain. Pickups aren't my forte but in most scenarios id have thought they could be made to do a job. Jason from Legendary Pickups might a good shout to talk to on that subject, he's a high-gain junkie and knows P90's inside out.
  15. Probabaly the stupidest thing I've ever wasted on, but I finally got the Hypnotoad finished.
  16. This is almost as insane as getting a dog for Christmas and hoping your kids wont notice until you've stopped it shitting on the carpet and announce "we got a puppy!" sometime around February.
  17. Nice. I still need to get to grips with my looper, still really hit or miss if I get it in sync. I probabaly just need to practice with a metronome until it clicks (or just practice more in general). > sometimes I’ll make a loop with the regular pedals and if I’m playing lead I’ll put that over the top. Looking forward to actually recording with it too. Aye the Rangemaster should cut through any mix like cold nipples through glass. 32dB centered around the upper mids and top end right up to 10kHz is lunacy by today's standards. I love mines, only ever swap it off my board for downtuned sludgy doom stuff.
  18. Caught a few minutes of it, was more than enough. Fiona Bruce pretending to play devil's advocate in a panel full of Tories just reaffirmed my idea of how far gone we are. Talk about limiting the spectrum of debate.
  19. Strikes me as the next step in phasing out the notion of social housing. "Right to buy" all over again but this time everycunt is skint and there's barely any social housing left.
  20. @Tom nice to see you're getting some use out of the treble boost! I wouldn't have associated it with Van Halen but it does have a some similarities with a slow phaser at the "peak" of it travel. Theres loads of Rory Gallagher footage that had folk speculating he must've be using a phaser but for my money its all Rangemaster (and maybe some badly wired cabs).
  21. Ah you got me! Wish you'd just messaged me on pornhub though, I get you lot are fairly liberal but this feels a bit awkward now.
  22. I'm fine with dives I think, I'm just a ham fisted dunce that leans too hard behind the saddle when I'm not actively palm-muting and pulls everything a bit sharp. I'm not even a big fan of Joe or his band, just the thought of an HH Tele with a Gibson bridge sometimes gives me a semi.
  23. Tom playing a Floyd Rose is almost as amusing as that fella Ibanez that plays Jackson guitars. That Floyd would probabaly be wasted on me. I can't play any kind of floating bridge for shit, thankfully the Duplantier sig is a TOM bridge.
  24. Looks awesome. Is it the San Dimas Pro-Mod range? I'm still lusting after the Joe Duplantier signature.
