  1. Guessing someone's picked something up on one of the half dozen chest x-rays I had a hear and a half ago when one of lungs collapsed (first in about 13 years, but had a bit of a history of them late teens/early 20's). Had a CT scan when I was 22, where you can clearly see the early signs but it seems to have been missed at the time (I'd guess because that's not what they were looking for at the time). Doctor I seen today had the initiative to go back at look at the 15 year old scan. Thought today would be a routine check in at the respiratory clinic. Ended up doing a bunch of breathing tests and then getting shown that ancient CT Scan. Binned the tobacco already. Now fighting the urge to bin-rake and have a smoke.
  2. It will still progress but hopefully not as fast. Good news is it's not COPD (yet) but basically will be if I don't quit immediately. So looks like I'm going be a crabbit bastard this year. 🤷‍♂️ Guessing it's pretty bad if I'm already 15 years in. Not sure I'll know much more until the do a CT Scan.
  3. Well, shit. Just been told I've got emphysema, which in all honesty isn't a massive surprise given how heavily I've smoked all my adult life. The surprise was learning I've had it since at least 2008. Wonderful start to the year.
  4. Aye its a bit frustrating that even now with what we know about the police cover-up and media coverage people are still blaming fans. I suppose though having him been there and witnessed it first hand, you're dad can maybe be mostly forgiven for refusing to change his view. Bit different from folk who are willfully ignorant and delight in using it as a stick to beat folk from Liverpool.
  5. Aye. I was doing back shifts in a local boozer for a second income at the time of the last Hillsborough inquest outcome. Some of the shite I heard spouted about Scousers was more sickening than some of the sectarian bile that would kill your career up here. Maybe that's just because I'm largely desensitised to a lot of the sectarian shit. Weirdly I probably came out of those few weeks having earmarked more folk as bona-fide bigots than I have in nearly 40 of living between Stirling and Glasgow and observing old firm fans. Swear I can't recall anyone disputing the outcome of that inquest that didn't resort to throwing in words like "rats", "scum" or "Heysel". What was that, ten years ago?
  6. Sounds fairly typical, especially for that neck of the woods. Just for clarity, while I probably do have a pretty unhealthy relationship with alcohol I only drink at breakfast on very special occasions. Birthdays, Christmas, cars in for for expensive repairs, severe hangovers etc. Since I had kids the bulk of my drinking is done at night.
  7. I've lived here for nearly 40 years and never been served my morning whisky in a pizza box. Now I feel like I've been missing out.
  8. Well if Kuol is as promising as it sounds, Hearts are almost nailed on for top four. He'll be fine up here, Snoddy will keep him off the deep fried mars bars and pizza crunch and worst hatchet job up here he won't face until April. Not a Hearts fan by any stretch but they seem to have their shit together lately with transfers.
  9. Wish I could understand why folk devote so much time towards getting outraged over the Harry thing. His mam was no saint, his "dad" is a bit fucking weird and his family spent a pretty insane amount of money covering for his nonce uncle. I've little to no interest in reading his side of the story but he's fully entitled to tell it. I'm far more worried about the folk who seem so emotionally invested in it all. I'd have thought most of us commoners had far bigger fish to fry right now.
  10. Craig Hope now saying the Kuol to Hearts loan deal is done. Dunno who or how reliable Hope is, but if it happens I honestly don't think it will be a bad move for him, and it's only 6 months. Don't massively rate the current Hearts manager (and the Brora Rangers cup result was fucking hilarious) but their recent transfer policy has been on the money and worked well for them compared to their Edinburgh rivals. Might even go as far as saying it's been better than Rangers (and I'm not just referencing Snoddy, but there is that). Plus it's Edinburgh. Cunt can practically commute.
  11. He's been in decent form for them from what I gather. A few eyebrows must've been risen given his age, but he's a model pro and looks a much smarter bit of business than, say Hibs taking a punt on a crocked Aiden McGeady.
  12. That Gakpo lad looked pretty lively in the first half, he'll tide them over on the left until Jota and whatshisname are back fit. I dunno where he fits in after those two are fit again though. Looks a steal at the price but something about it screams "bizarre transfer policy" for them all of a sudden, emphasised with them bringing on Elliott and 17yo Ben Doak to chase a win. They've fucked it this season though not bringing in another #8. I still maintain Klopp is no tactician and has been living off Buvac's genius long after they parted ways. The well of Buvac's ideas has just finally dried up and this "pep" cunt isnt in the same league.
  13. Nobody else massively disappointed the Dumbarton v Stirling was called off? Just me then? Was planning on heading through for a rare away day on one of the few Saturdays I get off. Bit of a shitter to see it postponed.
  14. Not taking anything away from Wednesday - thought that was an unreal performance from them - but Newcastle had more than enough chances to come back there and on another day you do. Good game for us neutrals though. Feel thoroughly vindicated in my long held unpopular opinion that Palmer should have a fuckton more Scotland caps after watching that.
  15. That game was before my time man, know it well but won't claim to "remember" it. Send him up here if he's ever down on his luck, like Snoddy he's an bonafide local hero.
  16. Hate them and their shite haired cunt manager, but I'll concede tynecastle is a good testing ground for an 18yo loanee that already has full international experience and genuinely look forward to seeing the lad up here in some of the more hostile fixtures. My love for Snoddy is routed in him single-handedly getting us (Stirling Albion) promoted during his short loan back in his youth. It's rare we see a player like that pass though these parts and go on to have such great careers.
  17. He looks a fair bit like that god-loving Tory cunt with the same surname. Hope you didn't mean this as a slight on Snoddy though. Not fucking having that, was entirely serious when singing his praises a few comments ago.
  18. Could be a good move for him if he gets game time in the big matches. And the absolute fucking legend that is Robert Snodgrass is there to keep him on the right path.
  19. First few bags of old kids clothes brought down from the loft she wanted to look through to see what might fit our youngest. A problem that was quickly solved by presenting her with a further 20 or so bags of the same shite. Thanks man. Dunno if luck will solve anything here though, what I need is a bigger skip, more whisky and a total frontal lobotomy.
  20. Aye man, thats mostly what's filling the skip, swear I could chuck in a match and have a mostly empty skip again come morning. The good drawings she's taken pictures off and posted on social media anyway. We'll be sound. Didnae mean to hijack this thread, just absolutely fucking plastered and seemed relevant to the whole "new year = fresh start" bollocks.
  21. Wishing we'd done the same (still an option to be fair, good shout!) just a bastard of a time of year to be moving, extra bank holiday up here on Tuesday really complicates it more. Need to be ready to move on Wednesday, could all get delayed. I've been trying to get bits and pieces cleared out most of December but my missus took the "let's just get Christmas out the way first" approach and she's the boss. Three of our four kids were born here and it feels like we've thrown absolutely nothing out since we moved in. Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be absolute pandemonium. Looking forward to it right now but that's probably down to the two full days of living off Dutch Courage.
  22. Swear it's one of the few times I've woke up and thought "fuck it, more whisky" since my student days. I've fair enjoyed this first day of 2023 so far though, maybe a bit too much. Skip is full, garden is starting to resemble 742 Evergreen Terrace in that episode where Homer fell out with the bin men.
  23. If that floats yer boat Spyres might be another band from this neck of the woods worth keeping tabs on. Some of their stuff is quite similar to Dead Pony. Im stretching "new music" a bit, but in my defence I only discovered this stuff this year.
  24. Woke up still drunk and just kept going. Moving house in a few days, clearing the loft completely shitfaced wasn't how I intended to start to the year. I've probably accidentally thrown a lot of stuff with real sentimental value in the skip, but fuck it. Out with the old, in with the, eh.....Johnnie Walker? Happy New Year.
