I stuck a daft fiver on us at 66/1 to win the title which is probably the stand out reason why we won't! looking at arsenal games immediately after the break and through january they've got a far more difficult run of games than us. freakish really that they've not drawn a game this season compared to our run of 5 with the defeat at anfield in the middle of it. fine margins and that. if we can get 7 points from the next 3 matches with 3 of them coming at arsenal then its not beyond the bounds of possibility the gap between us could've all but disappeared.by the beginning of febuary. spent a couple of hours in the gunners (inadvertent pun!) on saturday getting as many irons in the fire as I could for an arsenal ticket, desperate to get to this one, we fucking annihilated them at our place last season and think we'll beat them again in january.

mrs bd did the great north run for the first time about 10 years ago and we travelled up on the friday, as it was getting a bit late to turn up at me parents and expect them to cook us a meal we pulled off the a1 and ended up in the pax inn at boston spa for some food. do you know it? was really nice actually. anyway, we were chatting waiting for our food and the landlady must've overheard us talking and asked the wife if she was running for a charity, she told her she doing it for tommy's , which is about prevention and support for still born births. when she brought our food 15 minutes later she also had an envelope with fifty odd quid in which she'd collected from the locals in the pub. my mrs was in tears, one of the most gobsmacking acts of generosity from total strangers either of us has ever come across. we both to this day still doff our hats to the good folk of boston spa.

I'll do one them pm things mate during the week and we'll sort it out. the premier inn, like most of them, is in industrial estate land. I've had a few pints on several occasions in the pub attached to it there post work too, it's not bad, just a bit souless with transient people. the canterbury is a 5 minute stroll and a better bar, tewkesbury town centre a further 15 away.

I tend not to leave the house much after dark for fear of the marauding gangs of 15 year old crack heads! I'm in cheltenham mate about 10 minutes down the m5, my watering hole here is the rotunda tavern. not an expert on tewkesbury pubs although I'd sometimes have a couple post work in the canterbury, which is practically on j9 and quite close to the premier Inn. where's your work putting you up then? I'd be delighted to have a beer with you, think it's probably only a matter of time before one of you poor fuckers draws the short straw in bumps in to me eventually!

right then, for reasons discussed elsewhere wednesday's game pretty much passed me by but I'm up tomorrow for this hoping for a bit of distraction. @Gemmill, there's 5 of us headed up and following on from the forest game i refuse point blank to spend 10 hours cramped up with 4 other blokes in a renault captur being driven at 60mph by me disabled mate so might well have to drive meself. in which case, you, like everyone else should be concerned for the landlord of the percy's profit margins. still hoping for a 6th ticket as the recipient has already volunteered to drive, fingers crossed, especially for me and the landlord! anyway, wildly optimistic prediction.... I thought we'd win this anyway but following on from bruno's bizarre penalty miss which I've read about but haven't seen (but have been advised not to watch anyway) I reckon he'll be fired up to make amends and will get at least a brace in the usual 4 we score. here's hoping!

thank you all so much for the kind words, they're much appreciated by both of us, I've shown them to the wife too. @Monkeys Fist.... he was 10 in that photo at the falls of falloch, spaniels seem to maintain their puppy enthusiasm well in to their life, especially where water and mud are involved! @Gemmill.... i grew up with cats, my parents still have one now and theyre well in their 80s. ive had it said to me in the last couple of days that the final act of kindness a good pet owner can give to their animal is to prevent it suffering. i accept this completely, but by god it didnt make saying goodbye any easier. @OTF.... most people think ozzy's name was a connection to osbourne, but was in actual fact the closest we could get to naming him after ozora festival in hungary, he went there in 2011 and was like a magnet for stunning hippie chicks, something which pleased me immensely, I walked him by myself quite a lot that week! @PaddockLad.... i dont doubt for a minute youll get every bit as much enjoyment and love from your first dog as weve had from ours I think my one regret now is that I didn't get a dog till I was 47, however better late than never. enjoy mate, they change your life for the better. finally, from this normally grumpy old cunt, I got ozzy in september '09 to coincide with me having packed my season ticket in, I'd already developed to a deep, deep hatred for ashley. I shortly afterwards set about converting a lwb sprinter. ozzy was a proper van dog and quite possibly part otter. off the top of me head he swam in scottish lochs, lake annecy, up the gorge du verdon, lake bled in slovenia and illegally in plitvice lakes in croatia, and many other bodies of water in between! I know we gave him a fantastic life, but he enhanced ours more and I miss the little fucker so much.
