  1. bit of both I think. nowt to stop a red dipper from joining as a member next week and taking a punt at getting a ticket in the home end. and that's before you even start on the seating debacle. ludicrous to stick some poor old fucker with dodgy knees, hip and fading eye sight up in the back row of l7. likewise I'd be tempted to sell a ticket on if id got one in the front row next to the corner flag, although not at a profit obviously. whole thing has been done without any thought other than maximise revenue and it's a major fuck up by the club. not that I'm bitter or owt about not getting a ticket!
  2. had a bash at the resale queue with a few devices. I'd imagine there was only a handful of tickets up for grabs, didn't deter at least 34,000 chancing their luck! best place of 2400 got me on the website after 12 minutes and there was 80 or so 14-17 year old tickets dotted about the leazes/milburn for £15. I like to think of meself as the peter pan of newcastle's support but would have to concede I'm probably not gonna get away with looking like I still go to school! tv it is then.
  3. any ballot folk heard owt? not a peep here.
  4. bearing in mind he spends his entire life thinking about us you'd think the laws of average would mean he'd get something right eventually..... but no.
  5. just popped on to rtg and somehow I'm allowed back on parsnip, anyway just thought I'd see what they make of our new signing, surprisingly.....
  6. about time we bought somebody. price easily covered by the extra memberships sold and the hike in aston villa ticket prices. our non season ticket holders are heroes.
  7. I think the main difference between medieval sunderland and the present day one is that in those days it wouldn't have been just seagulls whose virginity was at peril but also that of the common crane. it could well be that mackems were responsible for its extinction by the 16th century.
  8. inevitable really when they're all hand wiping their arses with kestrel lager.
  9. I'm linked to my mates membership but for some bizarre reason the star next to our names which allow you to purchase tickets on each others behalf has disappeared. my mate is currently in the queue to enter the ballot for 2 tickets for us but I'm unsure whether or not it'll allow him to do it without the star being there? thought I'd ring the box office in the meantime while he's waiting to get the star put back on and I'm 89th in a queue to get to speak to someone! losing the will to live with this shite!
  10. don't you think the good people of consett had it bad enough when the the steelworks closed in 1980? why in the name of god would you want to inflict 25,000 mackems every other weekend on the overwhelmingly black and white north west country durham town? bit of a nimby you I reckon, hang your fucking head in shame.
  11. ps.... apparently n.u.s.t. aren't impressed either.....
  12. well and fucking truly. no choice in where you want to sit, a linked application whereby you might hope to get a seat with a mate counts as one entry in the ballot rather than two, fucking ludicrous, they've as good as obliterated the opportunity of taking your child to the match unless you're happy for them to sit at the opposite side of the ground to you. waste of £37, I hope the cunts get bombarded with complaints. just as an aside, I noticed the other day you mentioned you thought n.u.s.t. were complicit in the new membership scheme, you still think that's the case? there's not many bigger critics than me of the useless twats but even I don't think they could have had any input in to this shite, the club probably don't give a flying fuck what they think. anyway, £44 for a home game against villa, they can go and fuck themselves, that's a 30% hike on last seasons price along with the near 40% increase in the membership cost. back to hoping for the goodwill and generosity of others for the odd away ticket for me, well, until such time as they're made digital too.
  13. @LongTimeAdmirer... I felt like you do now when craig bellamy was shunted off to celtic, I was so distraught I wanted souness to walk past a giant magnet. I still think about little craig every day, there's a good chance you'll never get over this. I genuinely feel for you.
  14. aye my thoughts too. think it's an absolute knocking bet they'll grade memberships next year, pay £100 and you'll be guaranteed to come out the hat on 5 occasions. pay £200 and you'll be guaranteed to come out the hat on 5 occasions plus you'll get a cheeseburger and a pint of carling etc. pretty sure arsenal have at least 3 categories of membership at the emirates.
  15. well like I said last night when I went on a bit of a ramble I was always gonna come back once ashley went, if it meant starting again with a nufc i identified with from the lower divisions and doing a bournemouth I'd have been happier with that than the saudis, especially if it meant the fat cunt lost every penny of the £1/4b he spent creating the abomination he did. but that's just me. as far as the saudi's themselves go, I've said before I don't consider it my job to be the guardian of footballing morals, sport sold its soul a long time ago. besides, I was 61 on sunday, it would be nice to see us win something..... before I'm no longer here, for that reason I can live with them and you never know, I suppose there's always the chance their involvement over here might bring about some changes in their own country. fingers crossed.
  16. for fucks sake! I wasn't gonna bother this morning because in the link that I posted yesterday from nufc.com they implied that the club were making membership numbers unlimited. they're now saying that it's unknown whether they'll limit them or not. I mean, even taking out the multi log ins, that a fucking colossal amount of people, if there's 30000+ members your chance of getting a ticket for games in a ballot is slim, getting a couple together probably miniscule!
  17. logged on with 6 devices just out of interest in the sale for memberships. best place 15,497th, bringing up the rear was 40,643rd. seems like there's a lot of interest!
  18. as regards the highlighted bit above..... in what respect? the football? we were getting crowds of 30,000 and averaging twenty odd thousand (of which only a handful were season ticket holders) during sustained periods in the 2nd division, when the odd gem was routinely sold, the ground was falling apart but more importantly the region was on the bones of its fucking arse. blokes were making it to the match despite fighting to save their jobs down the mines, in the shipyards, the steelworks or all the engineering companies who relied on the above to stay in business. we had 25% of the male working age population on the dole but folk would still find a way to get to sjp despite this and the abysmal football on offer. the ashley years changed that for people like me and a shit load of blokes who'd previously trawled up and down the country through really shit times following this club. you couldn't have got me to put a cross next to the tory candidate in a polling station if I'd been dragged down there with a gun at me head, would've been a shit self sacrifice mind when the rest of the country was seemingly hell bent on voting thatcher back in. but I could do something about ashley, I could stop paying the fat vindictive cunt to tell lies about the supporters making death threats to his family, treating club legends with utter contempt, renaming the stadium after his tat shop, letting it fall apart other than the thousands of shiny new sports direct logos from foundations to roof, employing lickspittles like llambias, kinnear, keith bishop, lee charnley, pardew and bruce to lie through their teeth to the supporters while he ripped the soul out of the club and took the piss out of the city with a smirk on his face. I walked away and it broke me fucking heart. even now he's gone as long as I can still draw breathe he or anything he's associated with will never get a penny from me, there's many like me. been done to death on who was right, those who stayed or those who walked away and I can't be arsed with it anymore, but I know I was always coming back when he fucked off. given the choice of rich saudi owners with the possibility of winning trophies or spiralling down the leagues and playing forest green rovers and acrington stanley whilst ashley lost every single penny of the £134m and £70m of debt he saddled the club with due to his own malice and incompetence I'd choose the latter every time. be a lot easier to get a ticket anyway.
  19. pretty much the take of nufc.com...... https://www.nufc.com/ I wasn't aware of this bit mind, not seen it referenced anywhere else, can't say I'm surprised, although I can't really see why anyone who owns a season ticket would fork out extra to buy a membership to buy a match day ticket for anybody else, surely you'd just be telling your mate to buy a membership for themselves? As was previously announced, existing season ticket holders are no longer automatically designated as members and would now need to sign up (and pay) separately in order to access those benefits
  20. also..... in a ballot how would they sort out seat choice? first names coming out the hat given first choice of seats available? can't remember whether it was leicester or arsenal game last season when I missed the member sale so tried me hand on the general sale, go a really low queue number and had the choice of a seat with a view obscured by the corner flag in the first row of the leazes or £65 in the milburn...... watched it on the tele instead.
  21. aye. it was all pretty much a lottery anyway, I think just about everybody had cottoned on in the end to using multi log ins. tickets were selling out pretty much by 10.45 if you were anywhere above 8,000 in the queue you could pretty much give up as tickets were being bought in multiples by linked accounts and this at a time when membership numbers were limited. it was the norm towards the back end of last season to see queues in excess of 25,000. I don't think it's implausible the club will sell an extra 10,000 memberships, canny little earner for them anyway!
