I did a bit of research on all 3 of our cl opponents at the time with an obvious view to heading over there and trying to pick up a ticket and the likelihood of getting in with a passport that didn't match a personalised ticket. dortmund was by far the most lax as you say, even the info on their website didn't indicate you'd be taking much of a gamble. I read that at the san siro they were looking at people tickets/passports with not much more than a cursory glance and waving you through. loads of people got in with tickets that didn't match. even those checks sound more strict than when I was there in the early 00s, as I don't recall anything at all. mind you, I was fucking hammered on beer being sold illegally by turks from the underground car park next to milan train station!
