Newcastle United: Club Sold To PCP - Official
Polarboy replied to The Mighty Hog's topic in Newcastle Forum
I know bugger all about the law, but I'm sure I've heard it was the case that if a solicitor gives advice to someone on one side of an argument, they have to recuse themselves from further involvement on the basis of a conflict of interest. Maybe it's more of an Americanism in terms of the law, but then again I'm sure they follow English common law. Granted I know about this from hearing that rich US couples race each other to get advice from the best divorce lawyers so the other can't hire them, so admittedly not the most highbrowed or relevant of sources. -
I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that Fulham are playing well but not getting the points that perhaps their play has deserved. It's all about whether their luck in front of goal breaks for them. You'd hope that given that it's been a season long problem it won't.
-
It should be massive pressure either way. Either we have keep our three point advantage, or we have the chance to go six points clear of them. I won't count my chickens, but so far, touch wood, Spurs are looking quite good.
-
Or players like Lascelles will make it clear that there's no point in cutting our nose off to spite our face in the middle of a relegation fight by downing tools to get rid of the cabbage. I'd say it must be nice to live in such a binary world as Edwards, but he likely thinks himself, falsely, quite the Machiavellian.
-
Benitez is in no way perfect. He's definitely a PR craftsman to the extent that it can be purely self serving at times, but the crucial thing is that he's a great fucking coach, and for the vast majority of the time he uses PR so the team, and obviously be extension him, are successful. In other words Benitez is a very smart, if perhaps a little too calculating at times, man, and Bruce is a fucking cabbage headed muppet.
-
So what's the bet that Bruce isn't given the sack until after the international break at least, by which time we're down to nine games to save ourselves from relegation, which sounds hauntingly familiar doesn't it 😐 Just give it to Jones immediately. He really can't be any worse, and we're not going to get anybody better to come in this late in the season anyway.
-
Murphy has been decent this season when called upon in fairness to him.
-
If I were to put a positive spin on it, at least Dubravka redeemed himself with that late save, and given the run Wolves have been on a draw is decent, and what I would have taken before the match. Especially when we had three players off with injury. We aren't giving ourselves an leeway at all against the likes of West Brom, Brighton etc, in terms of the points we need to pick up from them unfortunately. How OK or how really bad this match could be for us will only shake out once we know the extent of Almiron and ASM's injuries, and what kind of result Fulham manage against Palace tomorrow.
-
Fuck up Coady you scouse twat.
-
Ritchie is fucking shite. Brilliant goal line clearance for Joelinton's effort in fairness.
-
It does seem to be a constant thing with teams he coaches, but my guess would be he'd blame the amount of matches in such a short space of time because of covid, which pundits will likely accept unquestioningly, without looking at his career as a coach as a whole.
-
Well it's kind of hard to prove in the absence of a decent coach, but I do believe he has potential. Maybe he's not right with regard to his attitude, but whether that's inherent or could be coached out of him I don't know.
-
And what sage advice, encouragement, and or training do you think he's getting from the cabbage? I'm not saying he'd be a world beater regardless of who our manager was, but I've seen enough athleticism from him to know he could do a job if he was coached correctly.
-
Lewis was the type of buy that you bring in for the future, not throw straight into the team. He has the potential to be decent, but Cabbage head is not the person to bring him through. Funnily enough the Cabbage has a decent eye for young players, such as Robertson, but he's not the one to bring them to the next level.
-
Wolves can't play this badly for 90 minutes. We need to take some of these chances at the very least before half time.
-
If we don't score in the next ten minutes we're fucked. We rarely play this well, and if it doesn't result in a goal, again we're fucked.
-
Was just thinking that Big Joe is looking fairly tidy tonight, then he does that cross 😂😭 Willock should have smashed that into the corner.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Liam Kennedy was saying that they might rearrange the previous match to Sheffield Utd at St James so that it happens after the lockdowns are eased. So in that case at least we'd have one home game with a crowd of ten thousand. Lets just pray that we don't have to rely on the final two, let alone final game of the season to stay up. The next three gameweeks should be crucial. If we can't pick up more points than Fulham with matches against Wolves (h), West Brom (a), and Aston Villa (h), when they play Spurs (h), Liverpool (a), Man City (h), then we really deserve to be in the shit. -
Cabbage's special friend Edwards has said that he's hearing, i.e. the cabbage told him over a pint of whiskey, that Dubravka is going to replace Darlow for the Wolves game. So that's something I guess. If Dubravka and Fernandez come into the team and we still don't improve in defence, and subsequently more generally, we may be shit out of luck. I'd also throw Dummett in at left back, because he can't be any worse than Lewis. All this shite about him being better in attacking areas than Dummett, what has he actually done in attacking areas apart from that assist against Everton. Even Dummett can produce the odd assist, very odd, but still. It's a big miss that Manquillo is injured, because our best back five is probably him, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett and Dubravka.

Baby Face's Red Disgraces vs Brucie's Bright Boyss

As Important as Wilson is to the side it's arguably just as important to get both Dubravka and Fernandez back into the defence. I don't know for sure if it will stop us shipping so many goals, but it certainly can't do any harm. Darlow as well as he's done in general is always prone to doing something like letting one in at his near post like last night. I'm also not convinced he's much of an organiser. Fernandez by stats is probably our best defender when he's in the team. He leads with clearences, headers etc, and both he and Dubravka seems to be the most vocal when it comes to organising the back line, which could be why we've been so bad in defence. We won't score many without Wilson obviously, so tightening up at the back is crucial. At the moment we need to score at least two to get any sort of result, which of course isn't happening. -

Does Humphrey's on BT read Newcastle fans twitter, blogs, message boards? He seems to mention talking points from us all the time. Can't imagine it would be disingenuous, I mean why would you try to lick our arse 😄 -
Pogba, Cavani, van de Beek, are out, and Martial and McTominay are doubtful. van de Beek hasn't been starting anyway of course, but he's a decent option from the bench for them. I know this is expecting actual competence from the Cabbage, but this could actually be a good time to play them and have an actual go. It can be seen as pretty much a free hit in any case the way the season has gone. I expect we'll try to hold out for a draw and they'll score towards the end of each half and win 2-0 in a very scrappy match. Let's hope my predictions are as good as usual when it comes to this season 😉

McTominay it seems had to come off with an injury concern tonight. As ridiculous as it sounds with all the superstars they paid big money for, it's McTominay who's been very influential in keeping their midfield ticking over. If he doesn't make Sunday it will be a big plus.
