And it needs saying that Joselu, Manquillo, Murphy and perhaps even Yedlin is £25m worth of players that are as bad/worse than what we already had. Murphy in particular is a baffling signing. He's a less promising player than Aarons. If we hadn't signed him we could have tripled our striker budget.

The concerning thing for me, at a risk of sounding all troops, is that we went into our last Premier League transfer window with better players than this, spent more than anyone else in the league and still went down. It's not like we can target a couple of areas either. We're short in every position.

Where are we going to get a quality premiership striker and #10 in January that will pull us out of this?! I've no doubt we could sign better than we have, fringe players from top sides or whatever. But are those types going to keep us up? Fuck knows.

I was desperate for us to sign Reina when we were linked mind. Even if a takeover goes through quickly it's difficult to think what we can do in January. This squad is so inadequate where do you even start? Who would come?

If there's a risk of his injury recurring then I question the decision to put him on the bench at all. For me, he's been passed fit, our defence is shite, we need a leader on the pitch. If we got an hour out of him we might have got something from the game.

If he's fit enough to play 45 in case of injury then he's fit enough to play 45 irrespective of whether there's an injury to other players. Our defence is shocking and he should have played if he was fit enough to make the bench

Can't see why he'd make the bench ahead of Mbemba if that was the case.

He should get in that back line half fit. Even if he didn't see the game out, fucking hell. When was our last clean sheet?

He isn't going to more than double our transfer record to bring in a capable striker. Which is the absolute minimum one will cost.

I'm usually the first to defend his team selections but leaving Shelvey out and in particular Lascelles is fucking bizarre behaviour. You'd think we'd been defending well in his absence and that he needs to force his way back in.
