Okay, I've managed to not fuck up the cake bit, which is a start. Not decorating properly until tomorrow so you'll have to reign in the excitement

Well the cake bit is in the oven. I figured that the decoration is going to be a crashing disappointment so I thought the cake itself should be decent. So I've made a dark chocolate and orange cake which I'll be filling/covering with orange liqueur ganache. Lah-di-dah-di-dah Managed to grate my thumb whilst zesting the oranges though. Hope I don't get that bit

Gents (and Jill) - it's Cake Week. Prepare to be....... erm, amused probably.
  4. Somebody is feeling sorry for himself! You always buy crisps when you're huffed Last thing I bought was a Kylo Ren lightsaber. Well Santa did....
  5. Thought we'd have a change from it being all about you for a bit.
  6. Excessive use of my initials there Dave?
  7. It starts to change colour at 1 but optimum time to see it in all it's glory is between 3-4am. It looks pretty spectacular at the moment as it is
  8. I was looking forward to this until I found out it's happening about 3am.
  9. Someone needs to put CT's face onto both of them lasses
  10. "Now all week, Friday was referred to as "The Day We Drive to Cape Town" and was looked upon with an element of dread. Not only did it mean that the adventure was coming to an end but it was a 400km journey on a coach through valleys and mountain passes and we'd been told it would take us all day. So how do you make the journey more exciting and enjoyable? Well.... you could make an impromptu stop at the Boplaas vineyard and wine cellar in Calitzdorp for a bit of wine-tasting. It is, after all, the port wine capital of South Africa and has been exporting it's award-winning brandy to London since the 1800's. Oh, and did I mention that this impromptu visit took place at 8.55am?! My parents woud be so proud! The shiraz and pinotage were particularly good if I may say so. Pretty views OH, and then we stopped at Barrydale for coffee around 10'ish and were encouraged to try a shot of the locally produced moonshine known as Vitblitz. Coffee, cheesecake and tequila slammers - what a morning!" Happy days I'm now going to stay up far too late re-reading this....
  11. That was on the way to the wine region, which is why it came to mind. Vitblitz and wine-tasting before 10am on the way to Cape Town. The rest of the day was a write-off...
  12. faulknmd says: Vitblitz, doesn't that just mean "white lightning"? Talk about classy... Posted on: Nov 14, 2007
  13. Martin, do you remember replying to my blog when I was in SA? It was about 8am and we'd stopped to sample the local Vitblitz?
  14. I reckon if I was an alcoholic I'd probably have remembered it was there before I moved out 3yrs ago Actually, thinking back, there was a dodgy bottle of Baileys in the back of that cupboard too. I really hope he's thrown it away....
  15. The bairns dad text me earlier to say he'd found a bottle of red wine in the back of a cupboard that I'd bought at a cellar door in Calitzdorp, South Africa. Nice little 8yr old shiraz that I'd forgotten about coming my way tomorrow!
  16. Behave man. The last twice he's been on here he's called people cunts. Not tongue-in-cheek, not in fun or for the craic - just to be vile. Haven't got time for it tbh. There are plenty other places he can go and do that.
  17. He can consider this as his pre-ban warning should he choose to consider posting in a similar fashion.
