Have to say, another nice play from Santon on the run there.
-
Nice cross there.

Announcers struggling on the US broadcast. Have referred to ManU twice so far as "United". Would be a good drinking game if not so early here.
-
"> She's a beaut Tom.

Care factor at an all time low it seems. Would be great to double them up, just don't see it. Moyes' squad has had some colossal flame-outs though this season - who knows. Yeah.... Newcastle United 0 3 ManUre Pards to "push Rooney away with his head" for fun.

Not offended mate. Put off by generalizations and such. Your numbers don't really tell the story. So of homicides, Americans use guns more often than Canadians (who are much more skilled with a B.C. two-hander or a good cross-check) in perpetrating said crimes . Not very meaningful. Yep the US is tops in gun ownership with about 88 out of 100 on average owning guns. Despite the fact that they are clear and away the most "gun crazy" as you put it, they aren't even top 30 in gun murders per capita globally. And the position is skewed mostly by data from Chicago, Detroit and New Orleans. Rife with gang crime with illegal arms. Here are some facts on guns and crime ... A Harvard study shows that banning guns has actually seen an increase in crime: http://www.law.harvard.edu/students/orgs/jlpp/Vol30_No2_KatesMauseronline.pdf And how has the gun ban worked out in England and Wales? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1223193/Culture-violence-Gun-crime-goes-89-decade.html Oh dear. Well how about down under? The Australian Bureau of Criminology states its murder rate in 2006 with firearms was the highest ever at 16.3 percent. The ban started in 1997. In 2006, assault rose 49.2 percent, robbery 6.2 percent, sexual assault/rape 29.2 percent and overall crime rose 42.2 percent. Since the ban, women in Australia are 3 times more likely to be raped than women in the US. Beyond that, I think some might have a misconception of the so-called gun nuts in the U.S. It's not the wild, wild west folks. I'll let the cat out of the bag here - and probably crystallize the opinion some of you now have of me. I belong to a gun club. There it's out We have a few hundred people as members of our club. Great range facilities: indoor, 3 outdoor at different distances, trap and skeet, clubhouse. We might have a quarter to a third of our members show up at meetings and that's enough to jam pack the hall. Thing is, most members, myself included, are there maybe 3 times a year for non-event time. Most guys will go down twice a year to sight their rifles in for deer season and that's it. There's more activity with outreach programs like Pheasants Forever which is a youth program that focuses on things like conservation, nature, gun safety, etc. People aren't prowling the streets with a piece and 3 or 4 mags in their waistband. The typical guy will have his rifle out a couple times a year and for hunting season. A guy may carry if he has to venture into a place like Detroit or Flint at night, but the new Chief of police in Detroit has even advised homeowners to arm themselves for their own protection (Detroit is a topic we can go on about for pages). Even though it's popular to glamorize and sensationalize the thug lifestyle that occurs in the bad parts of some big cities - that's not America.

Relax, it was the miniature variety... and air hockey. No one was injured or senselessly murdered in the activities

Name calling tooner? That's ok. Don't think you get it, maybe I 'll try to explain a little better after golf. But you seem fairly closed minded. Cheers

Not sure of stats elsewhere. Those were from 2010 CDC stats (latest official). I know the rate has dropped since then. Canada has much tighter restrictions on gun ownership from what I remember. You also can't ignore the cultural implications. There are serious differences between the countries in that respect. I live within an hour and a half to two hours of 3 of the 12 or so worst cities in the US for homicide: Flint, Pontiac and Detroit. Most of those crimes - the VAST majority - are committed by weapons that have been obtained illegally by gang bangers and thugs who go through back channels to obtain them. I am all for clamping down on illegal gun sales and transfers and improvements to the turnaround on getting felons, psychos, etc into the database. All licensed dealers must perform a background check through the govt database before a sale. If there is are improvements to be made, it is to improve the database management, MUCH harder penalties for those who don't go through FFL's and aggressive police efforts to cut criminal channels for illegal sales - not further prohibitions on law abiding citizens. We saw how well prohibition worked out with alcohol. Also interesting, California state rep. Yee has been a very aggressive liberal anti-gun crusader. He was just popped by the Feds for arms dealing... Including shoulder mounted stuff. Off take the boy golfing.

Sophistry. I can provide anecdotal stories of armed citizens stopping murderers after one or two shots fired where they could have killed 20. You can find them too if you look. The latest homicide rates from the CDC is 5.3 persons in 100,000. The homicide rate by firearms is 3.6 in 100,000. Homicide is the 18th ranked cause of death in the US. I think some of you have a caricature view of the American public's attitude on firearms. It's not what you see on TV, film or read in the rags.

Thing is, there's plenty of laws on the books to keep psychos from owning guns. You will never be able to stop all of the people with evil intent from doing what they want to do. As you've seen yourself, you still have the butcher sawing a head off in the streets of London. Ban knives yet? People with evil intent and drive will find ways to do harm and the law is the least of their concerns. Defending yourself and the innocent from such evil is a moral prerogative and I don't understand the resistance to it honestly. Even though the famous quote about Admiral Yamamoto's reservations about invading America may be dubious in attribution, it holds true from a logical standpoint.

Just want to clear some things up, because the media is ... well, the media. As he has not been officially diagnosed with a mental disorder, he was of legal age, etc. there was nothing to prevent him from buying that handgun from the shop. If he is not placed into the system from a diagnosis or by the courts, no reason for the shop to think there was an issue. The bigger problem - and the one our media over here refuse to touch - is this : You wonder how someone could get off shots on so many people on a military base? Nidal Hassan did much worse damage in fact on that same base 5 years ago. That's because President Clinton made it illegal for military personnel to carry firearms on base. All weapons are locked up in the armory. This is the same reason that the school shootings were so bad. They were 'gun free zones'. Do you know what a gun free zone says to a cowardly criminal like Lopez or Hassan or any of the others? No one to fight back here. Fish in a barrel. How is it that we trust the police to be armed in police stations, but we cannot trust our military - who go through much more rigorous training and screening - to carry on base? Preposterous. Cowards like Lopez and sudden jihad syndrome sufferers like Hassan know that he has a bunch of helpless victims before him. Incidentally, they keep talking about Lopez and PTSD. He was a truck driver in Iraq in 2011 and was only there for 4 months. He never saw combat. See what comes out about him or if the story fades to the back pages.

But you see Fist, I am

Ouch, you lot are starting to give me a complex
-
Good to hear. I was afraid they might apologize to them for offending thier culture or tender sensibilities or something.
-
You realize that the 2009 shooting was sudden jihad syndrome right? "Aloha Snackbar!" This one yesterday was a vet returned and undergoing evaluation for PTSD. What ever happened to the two wanks that sawed off some guy's head on the streets of London and bragged that no one had the minerals to stop them? (another sudden jihad syndrome case if I remember right).

I'm sure he was just looking to spend that money to better the club this summer. (Did I do it right?) Wonder if this setback will increase his efforts to find a buyer.
-
Nice. I'm not nearer a decision on mine yet.

That will not save him from relegation next year. He'll have to make other moves. I still think he's in talks with a prospective buyer honestly. Someone from the east with slightly deeper pockets and will change the strip colors to his lucky colors or some such.

Understandable. Valiant effort while it lasted. Too bad you can't set up a macro or something.

I miss the "blah blah blah" filter. Who turned that off?

Didn't some ManU fan get a 'Moyes Out' tattoo recently? Seem to remember seeing that or reading about that somewhere. (Edit) Here it is : http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/moyes-out-tattoo-manchester-united-3188136
